I believe a communication health and wellness process at Shaw University would benefit so many people. I struggle with communication from trauma caused at a child. This is something I would directly be interested in. The essential message of the center "know thyself" is very powerful. I really do not know I am. I know I tend to lead to what people say I am.
Ever since I have begun life at college, I have found going to bed on a decent time each night a very troublesome task. I wake up feeling very tired the next morning, and I always seem in a rush to get my day started. Because of staying up so late and then not waking up on time, I am sometimes late to work or class. In addition, I find myself very tired and stressed throughout the day. This in effect makes me often irritable toward other people. I am tired of living my life in a constant flurry every morning. Thus, the behavioral change that I would like to alter is my sleeping schedule. Being tired after a night of sleep just leads to anxiety and causes even
Supreme Court Justices are known for interpreting the Constitution. They are seen as leaders who know what is constitutional and what is not constitutional. Their interpretation of the Constitution is known as law throughout America, and not many people choose to oppose their decisions. Their word becomes the law, and their law reigns. When the justices are told to make a Constitutional decision they have one of two processes. They can either make a decisions from judicial restraint or judicial activism. While both methods are effective, judicial activism allows for a more fair decision.
During the Personal Wellness Assignment, various factors influenced my fitness, nutrition, energy, and sleep numbers. I noticed that my nutrition, energy, and sleep scores were higher on Saturdays and Sundays because I didn’t have school on those days so I had more time to eat and sleep. My energy scores were high on those days because I was happy that I didn’t have school. I also notice that my fitness scores are low most of the time, except on Tuesday. This is because I have an extracurricular activity only on Tuesday. My graph shows that when my sleep scores are high, so are my energy scores. This indicates that I have more energy when I sleep for a longer time. My graph also shows that the nutrition and energy scores are exactly the same.
In the Institute of Medicine (IOM) report in 2006, Preventing Medication Error, more than 1/3 of the 1.5 million adverse drug events that were recorded in the United States each year occurred in an outpatient setting. Likewise, in 2008 IOM released a report that laid emphases on the need for setting universal standards within prescribing and dispensing practices. Multiple studies reported that an increased prevalence of patient adherence to taking prescribed medications can be compromised by their inability to comprehend or understand the directions for taking the medication (Wolf et al., 2016). The inability to understand and interpret prescription drug labels were recognized as the leading cause of a large proportion of outpatient medication error and adverse events, as patients may possibly accidentally misuse a prescribed
Briefly explain your public health message and justify why you believe it would promote change within your target audience
The burden of chronic diseases in the United States claimed the lives of over 90 million Americans (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, as cited in Parker & Thorson, 2009) with 2.9 trillion dollars spent on health care expenditures in 2013 (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2015). In the United States (U.S.) Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death, which affects over 70 million people (Thom et al. 2006). The American Heart Association (AHA), estimated one in two women and two in three men are affected by CVD (AHA as cited in McKee et al., 2011). Cardiovascular Disease In the sub-minorities like the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHOH) population are neglected and disproportionately affected. The disproportion

A veterinarian, a professional that treats animal health problems, is a career I yearn to pursue, due to the opportunity to keep any animal surviving, the ability to receive a high salary, and the chance to work with animals all the time. I have been interested in the veterinary field since I was seven years old. When I was seven, I had a german shepherd who was very sick. I went to the vet with her and I sat through the whole appointment. It was extremely hard for me when they told me that she had to be put down. It is very hard to see animals suffer in pain for a long time. Even though putting animals down is tough, sometimes euthanasia may be the easiest and best way to put animals out of misery. Since then, I have had a major interest
Finally, by testing a preventative health care strategy would prove to be beneficial in the long term basis, generally simply due to the need for the public to promote the benefits of feeling fit and being healthy. “The Gale Group (2001) reports as a preventative measure for good health, many organizations or institutions have designed programs that inform the public or specific persons with specific problems about information that will benefit that person or persons. Preventative measures are for diabetes, heart problems, cancer, and many other focused subjects. According to the American Dietetic Association, current interest in health promotion in the United States involves disease prevention and the problem of obesity. Health promotion is
To broadly examine the potential health and financial benefits of health information technology (HIT), this paper compares health care with the use of IT in other industries. It estimates potential savings and costs of widespread adoption of electronic medical record (EMR) systems, models important health and safety benefits, and concludes that effective EMR implementation and networking could eventually save more than $81 billion annually—by improving health care efficiency and safety—and that HIT-enabled prevention and management of chronic disease could eventually double those savings while increasing health and other social benefits. However, this is unlikely to be realized without related changes to the health care system.
The program should be applied to different levels of preventions based on short term or long term needs in the community. Primary prevention approach is required to promote and maximize health and wellness in the community before injury or illness occurs (Vollman et al., 2017). Therefore, the program focuses its attention on providing the community with information on cardiovascular health, nutrition, exercise and stress management (Harkness & DeMarco, 2012). The first idea for primary intervention is providing the community with free blood pressuring and heart rate screenings to recognize the population in risk. The information about this part will be provided to the community from different sources such as news, healthcare facilities, schools, community association, and churches. The monitoring will be done through the family physicians, nurses and different stands that will be set up in different locations of the community such as pharmacies, shopping malls, churches and health facilities. Growing up in Arizona, I was surrounded by a wealth of cultural experiences and traditions from the people of Mexico. When I turned 18, I graduated from high school and moved to Southern Arizona to attend college in the city of Tucson. Located approximately 45 minutes north of the US-Mexico border, the City of Tucson had a high percentage of people of Hispanic descent, with a bulk having undocumented immigrant or refugee status. Throughout college, I spent time volunteering at a community Emergency Department halfway between Tucson and the closest bordering city, Nogales. My time volunteering in this ED was particularly a unique experience that exposed me to the health care disparities faced by immigrants and refugees of Mexico, and the issues faced by health care providers treating these patients.

If you visit any medical organizations web page and look to see what their goals and objectives are you will always find solemn pledges of providing patients with the best health care anyone could ask for in the safest manner possible. This in its self is a very broad undertaking and leaves people wondering the means by which these pledges are obtained. Quality is not something organizations just have like the equipment they buy to run the organization. No, quality is attained via implementation of work practices, monitoring those practices, and improving on the process as it unfolds over time. Hospital organizations have a specific branch of monitoring, managing, implementing, and improving quality health care practices. Jackson Health
There is a certain way to do almost all things. There is a certain way to drive a car, solve math problems, play guitar, and write an essay. Personal health is the way people take care of their bodies. People put sunscreen on their skin to keep from burning or possibly getting skin cancer. People brush their teeth to keep from having tooth decay or getting gingivitis, the first stage of gum disease. People cut their fingernails and toenails to keep from getting hangnails and/or ingrown toenails. Personal health is what keeps people from getting sick and having health problems later in life. Therefore, everyone in the world should take care of themselves. There is no downside, only benefits. If people took breaks while reading and wore something to protect their ears when it was cold, they could protect their eyes and ears from damage. Life is short, but personal health care could help make it longer for some people.
