Is the U.S. considered anti-immigrant or just playing it safe? As you read these two accounts, you will come to find out that they both discuss the issue and hardships of refugees and war. A refugee is a person who has been forced to leave their country because of a natural disaster like the Holocaust or an ISIS attack. A big issue that is dicussed in these articles is the amount of refugees being let into the country.
We know that years and years ago there was an attack caused by the Nazis called the Holocaust. Because of this, the people who survived and wanted to get out of Germany. These people are refugees. There tens of thousands more refugees from all over when there has been a disater. Now adays, the United states has a limit on how
For instance, they have to have a good background and they have to be watched in the United States to make sure they aren’t part of a terrorist attack. Also, some refugees are in serious danger from the country they are in now and really need a place like the United States to go to because of war and terrible events happening. Everyone in the country may not agree with what is going on and want to have the same culture as the United States. For example, Luma in Outcasts United didn’t believe in women being looked down in Jordan and as she visited the United States she decided she liked the culture and ended up staying here. There is two different sides in the government right now and they’re letting the refugees in but regulating them strictly, the other side is not letting them in at all.
No one is prepared for war and the most challenging decisions you will have to make to survive. Although each character in Refugee, by Alan Gratz, is from a different time and place, they each share similar hardships and challenges in their experiences, such as they were all forced from their homes, they all lose a family member, and their problems begin in their own country.
“Doesn’t the world see the suffering of the millions of refugees of Palestinians who have been living in exile around the world or in refugee camps for the past 60 years? No state, no home, no identity, no right to work. Doesn’t the world see this injustice?” (Ismail Haniyeh). This is how many of the universal refugees feel. There are millions of refugees all over the world in similar situations. This is also similar to how Ha feels in the book “Inside Out and Back Again.” Ha’s life mirrors the universal refugee experience because many lives are turned inside out, they have to get used to their new living arrangements, and they have to adapt to a new world.
More and more Muslims are escaping their home country at an astonishing rate, but the question is who will let them in their country? The article “Brave New World” written by Melissa Eddy illustrates the struggles of young Muslims escaping their country in order to find a new life. Countries have antagonized the Muslim refugees as “terrorists”. If the Muslims are rejected from every country they will be forced to stay in their own country. What thought to be a warm welcome turns into antagonism.
Refugees are individuals that are being forced to flee from their country of citizenship to another in order to escape war, persecution, or natural disaster. Western society tends to be judgmental towards people who do not look like their own and so it is very difficult for different cultures to be treated fairly. Recently, President Trump implemented a law that band Muslims, due to the stereotypically classifying them as terrorists. Muslims are being classified as others and treated very poorly due to their religious beliefs and instead, that should not be the case. In the media, Muslims are also portrayed poorly and they are seen as individuals coming to America to take over the country, when in fact they are just regular individuals seeking
In 1944, former president Franklin D. Roosevelt signed an executive order forming the War Refugee Board. As briefly explained by ushmm.org, “the Board is responsible for devising and carrying out programs for the rescue and relief of victims of Nazi persecution.” During World War II, the United States help settle refugees who couldn’t be in their own country because of the war. This was a great thing to do and shaped the future we live in today. Letting Jewish refugees into the United States “was a turning point in American immigration policy and established a precedent for later refugee crises,” according to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. What is happening today with refugees is no different than what happened in the past. The Washington Post uploaded an article January of this year stating “If the order is enacted, among those immediately affected would be potential immigrants and visitors from seven
It is noted that, refugees and asylum seekers come to United States due to fear of persecution and also escape war in their country of origin. The main intention of refugees is protection of their family’s lives and therefore, they migrate to another country for the
In many cases individuals are label as refugees after being permitted to stay in the United States after applying for admission. Most of these immigrants have fled due of the fear of persecution due to their race, social clique, political officially, religion, or national origin. The admission of refugees turns on numerous factors, such as the degree of risk they face, membership in a group that is of special concern to the United States (designated yearly by the President of the United States and Congress), and whether or not they have family members in the United States. (American Immigration Council, 2016) After the events of September 11,2001, the number of approved admissions fell due to the increase in the complexity of security checks. The Department of Homeland Security determined the total amount of refugees’ admission permitted into the United States for 2016 was approximately 85,000. For those that individuals that reach the United Stated before applying for refugee; there is option for them to seek out asylum within the country. The individual must declare that they are seeking asylum at any port of entry or within one year after arriving in the United States. Currently, the immigration policies don’t limit the number of individuals who are granted
The demographic in some areas of our country is changing rapidly with the arrival of
Over 300,000 refugees are waiting at the borders of our country waiting to be accepted into our country. My question is why. Why would our great country want to weaken ourselves by letting illnesses and terrorism into our country, especially when they did not help us in the past? The United States should not accept refugees because of many reasons including terrorism, stealing jobs from U.S citizens and bringing sickness and unknown illnesses into our country. Hundreds and hundreds of terrorist attacks have occurred in our country the only blameable menace are us letting in refugees in. Thousands of refugees are working immediately, and illnesses are spreading to Americans in our country as soon as these refugees enter our country. Knowing all of these issues is it really worth letting them in?
Based on the immigrants controversial in the 2016 presidential election, it is cleared that the United States is not anti-immigrants rather illegal aliens and terrorists. United States is one of the humanitarian countries that has hosted half of the world’s refugees. United States is a country that provides everyone with equal opportunity irrespective religion, culture, sexual orientation etc. United States embraces diversity which allows everyone to pursue their
Refugees should be allowed into the United States under certain conditions only, including a positive background, Eligible for a job and will respect our nation as well as the people in it. Just imagine that your little town is being attacked or even a natural disaster may be occurring and having nowhere to go, what would you do? How would you survive? By the US starting to turn away refugees thousands of people's lives are being taken away when we could easily be helping them out by taking them into our country and helping them out. Sure some people that enter the country might commit crimes but regardless that doesn’t just mean we should turn all of them away it would cause way more harm than good. All of those innocent lives are just
What if you were called a refugee one day? Many of Syrians are losing their homes to terrorists. They are now facing a similar issue Jews faced in WWII. Nearly 1/3 of the Jews on the St. Louis died after they tried going to 2 different countries and were denied by both. So, Syrians today are alike and different in many ways from Jews.
Have you ever thought about how big our world is and what things happen in it?
Refugee warriors are citizens of one state who crossed the border as a refugee and live in in a neighboring country. Citizens live in camps on the borders of the state that they were born. In the camps the refugees live in the refugee warriors conduct war against the regime that is in power or control. Sometimes we feel sympathy for what they do and in other instances we may disapprove. Whether we approve or disapprove their actions they are refugee warriors and if they have and if they flee from their home and live in neighboring countries like refugee communities and start attacks against the regime that is in power in their home from bases in the neighboring countries. There are conditions in being a refugee warrior and to be a member a person’s parents or grandparents fled from a region in their place of origin and secondly the person uses violence to remove the regime that is in control. The base for carrying on the conflict is placed in refugee communities in neighboring countries. Refugee warriors weaken the regime in their home country and their host state but that doesn’t mean that refugee warriors are bad because free their own people from persecution.
