Refugees Persuasive Essay

Much like many white people in the South believed black protestors had no right to infiltrate their cities in the 1960s, a large number of Americans are against the idea of letting refugees or anyone that follows a strongly stereotyped religion into their country. However, like King says, “injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere” (78). Over the course of history, the United States have established themselves as a major power with the intentions of helping others. Whether the tactics for this have actually been successful in the past is a different discussion, but if the motives are pure, then this country has a moral and ethical obligation to help those in need. In this case, that would mean allowing these refugees into the country and not continuing to stigmatize an entire group of people any further. This country turned away refugees during World War II, and a portion of them were killed in the Holocaust. The exact same thing could potentially happen if these refugees and muslims are banned from traveling into the United States.

Imagine that you are in an airport trying to flee your country because there is a war going on, all of a sudden you get stopped by a security officer saying that the country you are trying to go to does not allow refugees, What would you do? The debate about refugees has been around since World War Two when Hitler was trying to torture or kill all the jews and other people he did not like. Here in America we did not let refugees into the U.S. during the war and a bunch of them were killed, however some did survive. Some people think that we should let them into the United States of America well, others say they should not be allowed to enter the U.S. In the year of 2016 there was around thirty-eight thousand refugees that were allowed into the United States. There were a bunch of other refugees that applied to come to the united states but got denied, because the U.S. did not choose them or they did not pass the test to become a refugee. The idea that refugees should not be allowed into the united states because they could bring disease, they could be a criminal or a terrorist, and they use up our land and resources deserves some merit. However These arguments do not realise that if we bring them into the United States we could save their lives, or give them better living conditions. In this article I will argue that we should allow refugees into the United States, but only under certain circumstances. Those circumstances are they should be allowed into the united

My first reason to why refugees should always be welcome is, how badly some get sexually abused or assaulted, how poorly they are treated and are seen as things instead of humans. picture this, you a five year old child, the village has been raided, your family have been killed except your uncle and one of your sisters, she marries an older man, whom she does not love but needs safety and security… this is a story that has happened before, a story that has happened many times, to many people. All of us, should be valued and treated with respect, regardless of our skin colour, cultural beliefs and/or background.

Intro: Refugees face a far worse life than most people can imagine, and there is no easy way out for them. They first must get out of whatever dangerous place they are in, then travel long distances with almost no resources, and even if they do make it safely to the USA there is a chance they will be sent back or even put in jail. The refugee experience is defined by risks and belonging.

Today we watch the world rage in war, bathe in chaos, and live in destruction. Where there is war families are being torn apart. Children watch family members be killed in front of them and many homes are destroyed. They are forced to leave their country and seek refuge in a neighboring one. In the book Outcasts United, the main conflict is how refugees are readjusting to life and how they are treated. Many characters have waited years to get into the u.s.This has made me realize that the way we deal with refugees is a big problem today. The camps they are put in are unsanitary. It takes years for background checks. And even after they get an okay to come here, they still struggle. Money can only go so far. I believe it is time to help them. Refugees are people and need to have another chance at life.

America is a great place. It is filled with hope, dreams, love, and success. Immigrant families choose to come over to America because of those reasons. These families have the American Dream in mind. One particular group that comes to the United States is the Somali Refugees. The Somali Refugees see America as their second chance and lucky them, America is able to give it to them. There is one problem though. Many Americans are not willing to contribute or agree to help the Somali Refugee population. Somali Refugees go through a lot all because of their culture and Americans should help them feel welcomed and wanted here.

Refugees are people who are forced to leave their home due to war, or natural disasters and try to start over by fleeing to a new country.Refugees are going through a lot, fleeing their homes, and having their lives turned inside out. For lots of families who are fleeing their country due to war or a natural disaster, it’s hard for them to adapt to their new lifestyle, learning a new language, new education, and bullies. Fleeing to America gives the refugees a fresh start in life, helps them to start over and more opportunities than they had in the country they fled from. “Children of War” “My graduation is next year, so I have to think about college...America is giving us a better future than we could have in Bosnia”(Brice-26).

There are a few good things that could come from being a refugee. They are able to collect welfare and get into public housing immediately by living in America. The elderly parents are given the opportunity to collect social security income without even working a job in America. The government assists refugees with community assistance. The community helps the refugee learn English by setting up a class for them. Little children learn English faster than others. Children are able to adjust to America quicker than most. The refugees could get great benefits from coming to America. However there are some bad things that could come to America by the refugees coming here.

And the United States themselves should be able to accept as much refugees as they can due to the fact that there are some Americans that would do anything to help refugees out. For example, I read a document from the Boston Globe, titled “An Outpouring of Support for Refugees” and basically talked about how Cheryl Hamilton from Lowell asked many people to help her out to support refugees arriving from Congo, Syria, Myanmar, and Iraq. Cheryl and others basically gathered a collection of kitchen supplies, winter coats, blankets, and much more, just to give them to the refugees that have arrived to a totally different place than what they were used to. And it also said: “Volunteers walked into the office and said, “I can’t stand watching the news anymore. How can I help?”” This shows that there are some Americans that have no problem with letting in refugees, and are willing to do anything for them, because it help seeing what type of conditions they were living in, as well as what is going on in their home countries. For example, there’s a photograph from Time which shows a young boy covered in blood, and says: “Footage shared online by the Aleppo Media Center is said to show a boy who was pulled from an airstrike on Aug. 17 in the Syrian city of Aleppo.” which I remember

Immigrants and refugees have some similarities, and some differences. Immigrants and refugees have many similarities. Similarities are that they want a better life in a new country, they start working menial labor jobs, and there is a language barrier present while talking. Although there are similarities between them, there are also some differences. Some differences include immigrants choosing to leave, while refugees flee to get away as soon as possible. Some refugees also need to do illegal things like smuggling to survive. Last, some refugees may want to return home when situations become better in their home country. Even though immigrants and refugees are different in many way, and they are similar too, they are two different

Can you imagine that your little town is being attacked or even a natural disaster may be occurring and you have nowhere to go? What would you do? How would you survive? You would have to flee your home away from the tragic disaster. You would have no place to call home and all you would have is the clothes on your back. Some in the process of leaving their town never get to see their family again and are lucky if they survive. This is why I believe that refugees should be allowed into the United States under certain conditions. These include having a positive background, being eligible for a job and respecting our nation as well as the people in it. As the US turns refugees away, thousands of lives are being taken away. We could easily help them by taking them into our country. Although some people that enter the country may commit crimes, that doesn’t mean we should turn all of them away. It would cause way more harm than good. Most crimes that happen in the United States are caused by the people that are US citizens rather than the refugees. All of these innocent lives are just being taken away and as many Americans sit back and do nothing about it. When we could be out there saving lives. Our country has to step in and do something about this serious situation. There are solutions we could use to solve these problems by making sure all people that enter this country are good at heart. When refugees come to the United State they must rebuild their lives from disturbing and heartbreaking conditions. Majority of the refugees newly adopted homeland with great energy and success, they go on to work, attend universities, build professions, purchase homes, raise children and contribute to their communities.

America is a country that is very powerful, and because of its supremacy, it is the leader of the free world. And as the top country in the world other nations look upon it when they’re in need. Although America has brought in many immigrants, a number of thirty one states have declined the recent immigration of Syrian Refugees. Deciding not to bring in refugees who are suffering in another country isn’t the way a leading country should operate. The crisis in Syria wasn’t something the Syrians could control, as a result the innocent are punished and left in tragedy. These civilians are left without homes, food and other necessities. Because of incidents like the terrorist attack in 2001, I understand that America has been put in a certain situation where they can’t trust certain people, but if they used things such as background checks and other methods to find out exactly who they’re letting into the country there won’t be a negative effect that comes from it.

A refugee has a well-founded fear of persecution for reasons of race, religion, nationality, political opinion or membership in a particular social group. Most likely, they cannot return home or are afraid to do so. War and ethnic, tribal and religious violence are leading causes of refugees fleeing their countries. When people flee their own country, and seek sanctuary in another country, they apply for asylum – the right to be recognized as a refugee and receive legal protection and material assistance. Refugees are people who are forced to flee a country because of persecution or because of serious human rights abuses. Refugees can help with things like the economy and by letting in refugees we can prove to Isis that we are not scared of them. Although it can be unsafe trusting machines to detect anything wrong, we are letting in families that need help, not singular people that are just looking for a place to live. Should refugees be allowed to come into a country that is peaceful and safe?
