Ever since I was young, I had always thought anyone could go to college, that college was the next step after high school. Although this is technically true, there are people that cannot go to college like other students. Whether it is because of money or conflicts within the family, there are some people that never got the chance to have a higher level of education.
Seeing people that will be graduating with me this year not able to go to universities or get further education made me realize how great of a privilege I have. I have been fortunate to have been born in a family that can afford to send not only me, but my other siblings to college as well. This is why I want to go to college, in order to make the best of my education not only
I am fortunate enough to have parents that can afford to send me to college, and support my choice to pursue a higher education. By attending college, I will eventually graduate with a degree and later earn a high paying career. Along with this, I have found college to be a way to discovering who I am. I have been able to move out, take over my own bills, and earn responsibility by doing so. Unfortunately, not everyone is able to attend college. Financial reasons typically hold individuals back from attending universities, and that later may affect their lives. Although I attend class daily, the true effect college will have on me in the future goes unnoticed. An education is something that is highly valued, and so important. Everyone should have the chance to have an education, but unfortunately, it does not happen. College for me, is a privilege. Therefore, I will work hard to earn my degree, and later put it to
With America growing at the rate it is, it is very important to grow with it. College is the best way to prepare someone to be out in the workforce and survive. Going to college is not essential for success, but it will give someone the extra skills that will help them in their career and in life. College helps people get a good job, prepares them for adult life, and will help them make more money.
Furthermore, achieving higher education and attending college sometimes just cannot happen. Simply put, not everyone can and or should attend college. Think about it like this, if everyone had college degrees, people would feel entitled to good paying jobs.
I do not understand why we would control who could attend a community college in the first place. The community college is a resource that serves communities and the four-year university system in many different ways, from continuing education to general education classes community colleges cater to the needs of every student to a degree. To think about limiting this resource is to deny someone an education and that is not how the U.S. was founded. Granted we are working towards free higher education through programs like the Tennessee Promise, but college is obtainable for the most part through financial resources that students have available. College is often times a barrier enough for students, but to begin limiting it to certain groups
As a 30-something going back to (or already back in) school you may be in one of the following situations:
When most teens getting ready to go off to college think of getting away from home, but
Coming to college has shown me information and knowledge I never thought I was capable of learning and it will be knowledge I will use for the rest of my life. I came to college last year for my own personal growth and to expand my horizons. I thought about what I wanted to do after high school and continuing my education was number one on my list. I’m here simply to better my future, expand my knowledge, increase my potential, and learn more about myself. I want to make my family and myself proud by completing college and getting a degree. Bettering my future and making sure I have the information to be able to do my future career is my top priority because it’s the only thing I have continually been working for since the 9th grade. Expanding my knowledge in these courses that will soon get me to the school I need to be at is a compelling reason for me to stay motivated enough to wake up in the morning and push myself to come to school. I hope to increase my potential and develop into
Coming to college is a monumental thing for me and having the opportunity to go to the College of Design is equally as big and frightening. I am excited and ready to start the school year and to learn all that I can during my studio classes but I am worried about the time commitment it entails. I see this as a challenge though. A challenge I’m willing to go through. I would say this is my biggest concern about the College of Design but not my only one. I have seen examples of older student’s work and seen how they have improved tremendously and although that fills me with awe and ease, I still feel a sense of worry because it takes me a small amount of time to pick up new methods of learning.
Since I was little I dreamed of going to college and become a nurse. Education is important to me because none of my family members had gone to college, and if I go it will be a family accomplishment and but also a personal one whereas helping people in need is one of the things I like the most. Besides, as a first generation going to college I will be an example to my younger siblings. I will be able to show them that if we work hard and commit to our dreams, we will accomplish them. I am planning to enroll full time in college and join clubs aligned with my degree. When I came to the United States the unknown of the English language was a challenge I had to overcome. However, it did not stop me to pursue my education, I started to create
“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” This quote from Nelson Mandela always clicked with me, because while many things can change the world, education is always at the root of it. The Ottawa County Early College program is an opportunity for me to practice with this essential tool. I feel that I am a good fit for the program because I have passion for my studies, am proactive in them, and I flourish under challenge. This amazing program excites me because it will help me to achieve my overall goal for my education; to positively impact the world. While I have many different ideas with what I want to do with my education, Early College will allow me to explore many different paths within a budget I
Going to college and having an education is the must impotent thing I can do to succeed in life. One, of my reason for going to college, is the better my life. The way I can better my life is with a good education. Going to school it no easy job to do, you have to work hard and manage you time. Personally, to make a decision of going to college was hard, I been trying to go to a college of the last ten year of my life. By going to college expand my knowledge and used that has a tool to do better in my future. The second reason, why I'm going to college is because I want to have more in life. In my experience no having a good education you have to work so hard to get what you want. By going to college, I'm making a big sacrifice but I know
I believe that every person should have the opportunity to go to college in order to thrive. However, a lot of kids decide not to because of the issue I am also facing, finances. I do have a job, but after bills are paid, not much is left over. I have to give my dad money every month for my car insurance and my mom money for my phone bill. This past year has been incredibly difficult on my parents. My father had an extreme cut in his work hours by almost 20 hours per week. This has created an extreme burden on my family. My mother and father did not have the opportunity to go to college themselves, simply because they could not afford it. My mom is an LNA at summer crest and has a low salary, due to only being able to be part time. My father is a steel maker at Rugers, and due
Attending college has been one of my goal setting because it would take me to the next level in life in order for me to be a successful person. Also, others around the world do not have the same education that I have and to not attend college means I would be throwing something away that others would like to have. One person that has motivated me was my mother because she had to drop out of middle school to go help her parents with work and pushes me to go beyond my limits.
When I was little, I dreamed about going to college somewhere warm where I could escape the snow. As I became older I realized that the dream I had as a kid was fading. At the beginning of the school year, the thought of going out of state was unimaginable. The only place that came to mind when I heard the word “college” was the University of Iowa. Shortly after the end of football season, my high school football coach, Coach Krusey would call me and a few of my teammates down to the conference room where coaches from various schools, sat down and talked to us about playing at the next level and furthering our education at their school. When other coaches also came to the school to speak to us, they opened my eyes to different options, soon
Going to college was one of the biggest choices I’ve made in my life so far. The doors that have and will open will change my path for the better but choosing which door to take was not so easy. All these choices, all these opportunities I didn’t what to do but in the end choosing to go to the University of North Texas at Dallas was the choice I made for several reasons.
