Coming to college is a monumental thing for me and having the opportunity to go to the College of Design is equally as big and frightening. I am excited and ready to start the school year and to learn all that I can during my studio classes but I am worried about the time commitment it entails. I see this as a challenge though. A challenge I’m willing to go through. I would say this is my biggest concern about the College of Design but not my only one. I have seen examples of older student’s work and seen how they have improved tremendously and although that fills me with awe and ease, I still feel a sense of worry because it takes me a small amount of time to pick up new methods of learning. I feel strongly that this core program will help
With America growing at the rate it is, it is very important to grow with it. College is the best way to prepare someone to be out in the workforce and survive. Going to college is not essential for success, but it will give someone the extra skills that will help them in their career and in life. College helps people get a good job, prepares them for adult life, and will help them make more money.
I do not understand why we would control who could attend a community college in the first place. The community college is a resource that serves communities and the four-year university system in many different ways, from continuing education to general education classes community colleges cater to the needs of every student to a degree. To think about limiting this resource is to deny someone an education and that is not how the U.S. was founded. Granted we are working towards free higher education through programs like the Tennessee Promise, but college is obtainable for the most part through financial resources that students have available. College is often times a barrier enough for students, but to begin limiting it to certain groups
College can be very helpful in more ways than just giving people more head knowledge. I do not disagree that people will benefit from learning a trade skill. In my personal opinion I think we should teach the basics of some trade skills in high school, and let the student decide if a college education is something they want to pursue. After coming to a college I do see that people should come even if it is for two years. The debt is always in issue when coming to school, but there are plans you can make to pay them off. Coming to college can do a lot to help anyone, but for the students that are coming right out of high school, college can be a safe place for them to experience the real world. In some cases it can give them some much needed
At the moment allot of people not only in the united states but in the world are indecisive about going to college. Some of them are scared of the hardwork and dedication that they would have to commit to but the money that they would have to pay. There are alot of people that didn't go to college and are very successful. Although teachers make it seem like its a requirement to go to college, it’s not, it’s the students decision. It is not gonna help the teachers out when people go to college.
Going to college is very important to because it extends my education giving me a better chance of achieving my goal, of getting my computer science degree.Well for the most part I believe that college will open up many doors and provide opportunities that I wouldn't be able to get with a high school education. Lately it has become increasingly hard to obtain a well paid job without a college degree. Why is this? Well employers are more likely to choose a college graduate for the job instead of the high school graduate, because of their more extensive learning experience. More than likely people that don't continue to college end up working in ether in a fast food joint or outside in a back breaking job. Both jobs which I wouldn't like to
Coming to college has shown me information and knowledge I never thought I was capable of learning and it will be knowledge I will use for the rest of my life. I came to college last year for my own personal growth and to expand my horizons. I thought about what I wanted to do after high school and continuing my education was number one on my list. I’m here simply to better my future, expand my knowledge, increase my potential, and learn more about myself. I want to make my family and myself proud by completing college and getting a degree. Bettering my future and making sure I have the information to be able to do my future career is my top priority because it’s the only thing I have continually been working for since the 9th grade. Expanding my knowledge in these courses that will soon get me to the school I need to be at is a compelling reason for me to stay motivated enough to wake up in the morning and push myself to come to school. I hope to increase my potential and develop into
Since I was little I dreamed of going to college and become a nurse. Education is important to me because none of my family members had gone to college, and if I go it will be a family accomplishment and but also a personal one whereas helping people in need is one of the things I like the most. Besides, as a first generation going to college I will be an example to my younger siblings. I will be able to show them that if we work hard and commit to our dreams, we will accomplish them. I am planning to enroll full time in college and join clubs aligned with my degree. When I came to the United States the unknown of the English language was a challenge I had to overcome. However, it did not stop me to pursue my education, I started to create
“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” This quote from Nelson Mandela always clicked with me, because while many things can change the world, education is always at the root of it. The Ottawa County Early College program is an opportunity for me to practice with this essential tool. I feel that I am a good fit for the program because I have passion for my studies, am proactive in them, and I flourish under challenge. This amazing program excites me because it will help me to achieve my overall goal for my education; to positively impact the world. While I have many different ideas with what I want to do with my education, Early College will allow me to explore many different paths within a budget I
Ever since I was young, I had always thought anyone could go to college, that college was the next step after high school. Although this is technically true, there are people that cannot go to college like other students. Whether it is because of money or conflicts within the family, there are some people that never got the chance to have a higher level of education.
Going to college and having an education is the must impotent thing I can do to succeed in life. One, of my reason for going to college, is the better my life. The way I can better my life is with a good education. Going to school it no easy job to do, you have to work hard and manage you time. Personally, to make a decision of going to college was hard, I been trying to go to a college of the last ten year of my life. By going to college expand my knowledge and used that has a tool to do better in my future. The second reason, why I'm going to college is because I want to have more in life. In my experience no having a good education you have to work so hard to get what you want. By going to college, I'm making a big sacrifice but I know
For the most part, I grew up in an urban neighborhood, raised by a single mother of six. For a long time, I believed that I was a product of my environment. I never had any ambitions, inspiration, or motivation when I was growing up. So advancing my educational to the next level after high school wasn’t a big deal. Going to college was never a thought for me. While in high school, I even opted out of taking my SAT. I have decided to go to college at this juncture in my life because of personal, career opportunity, and financial reasons.
My attitude towards attending college is positive and energetic because it is a must for me to attend college, to prove not only to my low-income family and community but also to myself, since most people in my family and community did not attend a college and dropped out. In addition to being energetic, I also feel scared because I would not have my family with me by my side to help me solve situations, I would be solving most situations on my own since I will be an adult.
The Freshman Convocation was a welcoming to the new freshman students that home feeling. I feel that this ceremony would benefit new students to the university because we are still transitioning from being in high school to being in CSUN and there are freshman where they don’t feel that home feeling yet and hopefully this ceremony made new students feel comfortable that this university is home. Also, there are students who feel like an outcast because they feel like they don’t belong and by hearing David Levithan say that,” People should stop seeing others on their differences because we are all 98 percent the same and 2 percent different” probably made them feel that we are all one big family and how we got each other’s back even though we
When deciding to choose the right college for oneself, there are many aspects that attract them. Aspects including financial aid issues, level of independence, and teacher interactions are examples. Whether choosing a university or a junior college, they attract completely different people. Most think Junior college does not prepare individuals for the future, but in the long run they only benefit.
Tom Landry once said, “Setting a goal is not the main thing. It is deciding how you will go about achieving it and staying with that plan.” I have always had goals and dream in my life since I was little. Then I learned every goal has a plan, a path you have to follow to achieve the goal. Same with my career path. A lifetime goal of mine is to be successful in life and have fun, to become one of the best neurosurgeon in the United States.
