Forgiveness is for Everyone (An Analysis of The Prodigal Son) In the King James Version of the Bible, there is a parable told called the Prodigal Son. As this story is told in Luke 15:11-32, we are told of a story where a wealthy man has two sons. One son stays behind and decides to work for his father and inherit a good life beside him. The younger son decides he will ask for money from his father, and leave him behind. As time goes on, this son goes out into the world and shortly after, loses all of his money he had received from his father. Because of this, he is ashamed and takes his time on his way back home. It can be so easy to take one simple look at someone and become so immune to the things in which we have. When it comes to jealousy, we can easily lose sight of the good in which we have inherited for ourselves. It is sad to watch someone only place themselves in worse situations due to their idea that other people have it better than them. It is often easy to desire to be exactly as someone else, which can damage your self image. Jealousy is so prideful, and can hurt one so easily. When the older son saw his brother and knew of the rejoicing that came with his homecoming, the Bible says, “And he was angry, and would not go in unto him: therefore came his father out, and entreated him” (line 28). When his father made the discovery that his older son was not accepting towards his younger brother, his father was very disappointed. He began to scold him, and tried reasoning with him. The father tried to point out that his brother was finally home and was no longer lost, trying to get his older son to realize the importance of the homecoming of his sibling, rather than focusing on himself
