The strategy used during World War II was island hopping and the next island to hop to during that point in the movie was Iwo Jima. The tactics used would be fire and maneuver which is shown in the scene where the marines assault the beach. Some marines stood back and provided covering fire for marines that were advancing on Japanese fortifications. The main weapon that was used by the majority of the marines was the M1 Garand. This weapon is seen in just about every scene shown on Iwo Jima ranging from the beach assault scene to the flag raising scene. The main pistol that the marines used was the M1911A1 and was never actually seen fired, only holstered. Another weapon used by the Americans was the Browning and was only seen during the beach assault scene. The main rifle that the Japanese used was the Arisaka Type 99. This was carried by most Japanese soldiers during the movie. Some Japanese fortifications were using a Light Machine Gun called the
For our final group project we had to pick an ideological lens and apply it to a piece of text we had gone over as a class to create a screenplay. I’ve had the songs from Hamilton stuck in my head since the beginning of the semester when the musical was assigned so I thought it would be of good use to take what is already so prominent in my head and get creative with it. Hamilton is the main character and hero of this play, who is based off of Alexander Hamilton, one of America’s founding fathers

East Germany in Wolfgang Becker film «Goodbye Lenin!»: Does the movie paint a positive or negative picture of life in communist East Germany? East Germany, its demise relayed through the mass media of recent history, has in popular consciousness been posited as negative, a corrupt bulwark of the last dying days of Communism in Eastern Europe, barren and silent. The other Germany to its West, it’s citizens free, was striding confidently ahead into the millennium. Recent cinema has sought to examine

the facts are presented or the assumptions made by the journalist. It would be inaccurate to suggest or imply that the press and the media are always responsible and truthful. After all, stories with sensational headlines or titles that greatly stir our emotions tend to get the most notice. We must learn to recognize the methods by which news is camouflaged so we can discern fact from fiction Every time we turn on a radio or television, open a book, magazine or newspaper someone is trying
to movies, many directors are good at their jobs. However, other directors are great in the art of film making. There is no doubt such statement is considered utterly subjective, but what would life be without subjectivity, for it is our differences that make us thrive against a monotonic existence. By the same token, Alfred Hitchcock and Christopher Nolan utilize their singularities to create films that for decades have impacted the movie making universe. In fact, it is their differences that provide

We live in a society that has compromised and diluted our so called “free will.” Everything that we do, say, and buy has been motivated and influenced by the media and what our world has deemed adequate and acceptable. Some of what is portrayed to us by the media is obvious, but often, companies use covert tactics to manipulate us into becoming the optimal consumers, those who will buy what we are told, despite whether or not need or even want the products that are being displayed to us. As opposed to impartially providing information, propaganda, in its most basic sense, presents information primarily to influence an audience. Propaganda often presents facts selectively (thus possibly lying by omission) to encourage a particular synthesis, or uses loaded messages to produce an emotional rather than rational response to the information presented
