Propaganda is a form of communication that is aimed at influencing the attitude of a community toward some cause or position.
As opposed to impartially providing information, propaganda, in its most basic sense, presents information primarily to influence an audience. Propaganda often presents facts selectively (thus possibly lying by omission) to encourage a particular synthesis, or uses loaded messages to produce an emotional rather than rational response to the information presented. The desired result is a change of the attitude toward the subject in the target audience to further a political agenda. Propaganda can be used as a form of political warfare.

The Creel Commission provided themes for speeches by "four-minute men" at public functions, and also encouraged censorship of the American press. The Commission was so unpopular that after the war, Congress closed it down without providing funding to organize and archive its papers.
The war propaganda campaign of Lippmann and Bernays produced within six months such an intense anti-German hysteria as to permanently impress American business (and Adolf Hitler, among others) with the potential of large-scale propaganda to control public opinion. Bernays coined the terms "group mind" and "engineering consent", important concepts in practical propaganda work. The file Century of the Self by Adam Curtis documents the immense influence of these ideas on public relations and politics throughout the last century.
The current public relations industry is a direct outgrowth of Lippmann's and Bernays' work and is still used extensively by the United States government. For the first half of the 20th century Bernays and Lippmann themselves ran a very successful public relations firm. World saw continued use of propaganda as a weapon of war, both by Hitler's propagandist Joseph Goebbels and the British Political Warfare Executive, as well as the United States Office of War Information.

Propaganda refers to when biased information is spread to influence a certain audience to promote another political opinion. Propaganda greatly influenced the home front by convincing civilians to get involved by downplaying the WW1. They came up with many ways to convince homefront to defend their country and claimed that it would be a very “swell” place to go.
As you may already know, propaganda is biased information spread in a way to convince people to think a certain way or to support certain causes. The strategies best fit for your campaign are Stacking the Deck,
Walter Lippmann (known for the term ‘Cold War’) and Edward Bernays (considered to be the father of Public Relations) were in the trenches for the first strikes of the propaganda “attack”, and both considered propaganda to be an essential tool for war. They might have been right as to this day we see warring countries use propaganda to justify their actions.
Propaganda is hard to define as most definitions do not cover the full meaning of the word. The Webster's Illustrated Encyclopedic Dictionary defines propaganda as " the systematic propagation or discrediting of a given doctrine or cause by circulation of polemical material, such as posters and leaflets" (1353). However, this definition does not cover the full scope of the of the word. Terence Qualter also feels the definition for propaganda needs to be more refined for its new usage. The definition that he gives is "the deliberate attempt...(to) form, control, or alter the attitudes of other groups...(with) the use of the instruments of communication" (27-28). He goes on to say that the propaganda must be aimed at the group in general because that is the basic nature of the word, in that the most effective propaganda is the propaganda which has a large audience. Qualter does mention, however, that there need be no difference in the propaganda to persuade one and the propaganda to persuade the many (28). Germany did this by controlling the flow of information into the country.

The word propaganda came into use in 1914 during the end of WWl but the use of propaganda actually started a very long time ago, but the term propaganda wasn’t used, there was no name for it. Propaganda is a word for the distribution of information that reflects the views and interests of those advocating such information. In other words, if the government is the source of the information, it is probably pro-government. Propaganda manipulates you by directing the aggression that would normally be directed at them, to another entity or group, such as Hitler blaming the Jews for Germany’s poor economy. It can also work to destroy the very logic that could be used to resist it, such as claiming that two plus two is five. Propaganda also tries to silence or discourage any of those who oppose it.

A government cannot be controlled by one person, it needs to be controlled by everyone. Therefore, propaganda needs to be abolished, taken out of our society, so we can function as one again. Propaganda is used in societies to persuade citizens state of minds, can be seen throughout history, and has many different forms, therefore, propaganda can influence how citizens trust the government.

Oxford Dictionary of English defines propaganda as “information, especially of a biased or misleading nature, used to promote a political cause or point of view.” OK, so far so good, I can agree with that.
First, one must define propaganda and since many have done so already, I shall use the Sheryl Ross model. Her model defines propaganda as “an epistemically defective message designed with the intention to persuade a socially significant group of people on behalf of a political institution, organization, or cause.”
Propaganda is defined in the Merriam-Webster dictionary as ‘the spreading of ideas, information, or rumor for the purpose of helping or injuring an institution, a cause, or a person’.
