I recently read chapter 1 of the book Next Steps: Research and practice to advance Indian education, edited by: Karen G. Swisher and John W. Tippeconnic III. This chapter is titled: The unnatural history of American Indian Education. The chapter was about the colonial education and stereotypical beliefs about the culture and capability of Native Americans. I noticed the words natural and true showed up quite often, natural to me means not human made and true meaning the truth with facts. It was stated that there are four tenets of colonial education (the reculturing and reeducation of American Indians by the secular and religious institutions of colonizing nations). 1. Native Americans were savages and had to be civilized. 2. Civilization

Again, students must analyze the use of the terms, not define them. However, it would be difficult for a student to analyze something which he could not define. For example, a student might be asked a question about how hyperbole contributed to the humor in a passage. He would have to know that hyperbole was an exaggeration before he could answer the
Chapter 7 in Writing and Revising talks about strategies for developing. Developing an essay is a great way to back up the points you make in the essay with evidence that can pull the reader into what they are reading. One way is to give examples. When you give examples, you show the reader that your points make sense. You can start by giving examples of things that happen in your past, or you can use examples of things you get off of research. Providing details is another way to develop an essay. Giving details can make any image seem real for the reader. The details that you provide should be true to what the readers might see, hear, or experience in that situation. The details in the essay must also serve a purpose and they have to support the idea you are trying to get across to the reader.
From time to time we all hear that dreadful five letter word; “essay”. Even though I am sure that we would all like to delete the word from existence, unfortunately, it will go on being an annoying part of high school. Many students hear this word and immediately begin to worry about whether or not they have a sufficient amount of time to write it, or if they can even write an essay good enough to get an acceptable grade on it. They struggle with not knowing how to write an effective essay. Most students really struggle getting across the idea that they want to tell their readers. "When I came to write my first assignment, I cried," says Daphne Elliston (from essay writing trips you up). "I just didn't know what I was doing." The writing in
The general purpose of an example essay is to express the author's general sentiments through examples. Within an example essay the examples help express the author’s generalization, or main idea of the text (Kennedy et al. 196). For instance, an author writing about human sacrifices during the Aztec empire could include historical accounts from the elaborate rituals that preceded the sacrifices. An example essay’s generalization often represents the thesis statement of an essay (Kennedy et al. 197). For example, an author writing about education inequality includes various examples that express his or her sentiments regarding the lack of funding for schools in low socioeconomic neighborhoods receive.

The author may use intricate sentences and lengthy paragraphs to develop the sophistication of their ideas.
and today the concepts are often used interchangeably. However, they do refer to different kinds
Overall, Young by Anne Sexton, is effective and I have given it a second degree rating. The poem is simplistic and doesn’t address heavier issues during that time period. Simplistic isn’t necessarily a bad view, just different. The tone of the poem is more sensitive and heartfelt versus a political theme. Young is relatable to most as everyone is young once.
