To be a member of the National Honor Society is a great award and achievement and it means you have worked hard and achieved in school as well as volunteered and been involved in both the school and outside community. However, once you are a member it doesn't mean you can halt all your work and coast through the rest of your high school years. You must continue to work at good grades and more importantly you need to keep working on ways to benefit our school and outside community. You need to be generous with your time and ingenious with your ideas in order to create a lasting impact. If accepted into the national honors society, I plan on contributing to that lasting impact with my previous experiences with volunteering and leading others, as well as my dedication to the society and the moral code it upholds. I have a variety of experiences volunteering with a variety of people, but specifically a lot with younger children, including Tilly’s kids, coaching, and babysitting. So, that leads me to believe I would excel in the tutoring and Thursday school programs. It also leads me to believe that I would be able …show more content…
Despite it being middle school, my leadership of the first ever NJHS at Sparta Middle School, taught me valuable things about leading and being part of a club with such prestige. As the inaugural chapter of the society, we ran the student-faculty basketball game, baked cookies for Project Self-Sufficiency, and collected food and then visited a local food bank. I learned how much a group of students could impact the community with their actions, something I had previously thought impossible. I will draw from those experiences when presenting my opinion on new service projects and will also try to introduce successful techniques that I used back during my time spent as President of
My community, Lisle, is a small, predominantly Caucasian, middle-class town. I can walk down the hallway and recite the first name, last name, and a fun fact of about seventy percent of my peers. Because of its size, I have has the opportunity to get to know majority of my neighbors and become quite familiar with my environment. While the kindness is in abundance, many of the people I meet in town have a confined perception of society. Entering high school, it did not take long for me to notice how prominent labels and groups were and how I did not fit comfortably into any single category. I liked being on the math team, playing soccer, and spending time with friends. But the academics, athletes, and social crowds were distinct, and people seemed to only interact with those of the same race. Nonetheless, at Lisle High School, we have a common saying, “One Pride” which symbolizes both our school mascot, the lion, as well as the unity of the community. I chose to focus on unity, rather than disparities. Following this mentality has

Qualifying for National Honors Society is a great honor and is the apotheosis of my highschool career. As a highschool student in arduous honors classes, I am faced with challenges on a daily basis that might discourage me from achieving my goals in life. Because high school can be rigorous and stressful at times, I have realized how these hindrances should be the reason for me to persevere towards greatness and to learn who I truly am. A National Honor Society member showcases leadership, service, exemplifies positive character, and an outstanding academic excellence at the same time. I believe that I display these characteristics, and would be an asset to the organization .
My decision of joining the National Honor Society is based on my passion for volunteering and my desire to spread the positive qualities that the National Honor Society stands for: leadership, integrity, and scholarship. By joining this group, I wish to help my community by helping with NHS sponsored events and other local functions. Being in the National Honor Society impacts more than myself, it impacts the ones around me; I will use the skills that will be strengthened with this opportunity in my other current involvements to better the lives of people in my day to day life. I wish to be apart of the National Junior Honors Society because I have always been a determined and hardworking person and being accepted would continue my journey of greatness. In all the activities I have participated in, I don’t ever do it for acknowledgement or respect from others. I do it for my enjoyment and success.
The National Honor Society is a prestigious organization that I, as a student, am striving for acceptance. At the end of seventh grade, I was accepted into the National Junior Honor Society and ever since then I have had my eyes set on the next level of education. I have had outstanding grades throughout my academic career, which has taught me leadership and how to show my service to the community, all while building my character into the person I am today. Ever since I was little, my sister has held me to high academic standards to see if I would be able to achieve higher scores and obtain more awards than she did when she was in high school. One of her highest student accomplishments was being accepted into the National Honor Society.
The National Honor Society definition of character illustrates that not only is it important for one to uphold the values of honesty, general regard for other, and kindness, but also it is imperative to retain these values in school, work, and personal life. It has been proven that what is done in each aspect can easily affect the other. In my opinion, a good character is one of the most important things one can possess
The National Honors Society allows students to be build and create traits that are essential in a successful adult. I truly believe that hold many of these traits and joining the National Honor Society will grant me the opportunity to expand on these traits and grow as a person. Thus far I have focus greatly on the scholarship aspect of NHS and have been dedicated to my academics. I have held my GPA above 4.0 and have always been devoted to maintaining that high level of academic success. The skills I have shown in devoting myself to my academics can be easily translated into my dedication for the other aspects of leadership, service and character. Having previously held a officer role in the National Junior Honor Society I have gained experience
I am honored to have been selected as a candidate for the National Honor Society at Forest Hills Northern High School. I understand that selection is a true honor, an opportunity, that is not granted to everyone. Membership is earned through true character, outstanding academics, community service, and exemplary leadership. Throughout my high school career, I have strived to integrate similar aspects of good citizenship into my daily life, which is a true testament to my character and my aspirations of membership in the National Honor Society. I have wanted to be a member of the national honor society ever since I saw my brother received his diploma wearing a blue stole.
I’ve been wanting to join this prestigious organization since I first heard of it back when I was in middle school. What I’ve heard about the National Honors Society is that if you’re chosen, you have the opportunity to apply for more scholarships than others. Like any other ambitious student,
Everyday, countless amounts of people are working hard, trying to change the world for the better. They are researching cures for cancer or taking twelve hour shifts to help keep oceans clean. There are people who are working towards a better world, and making life safe for the children in need, the animals in danger, and the men fighting for our country. Seeing these changes happen has motivated me to want to be a part of these developments. I wish to serve those around me, and believe that if I can have a positive impact on my community, it can affect the rest of the world. Therefore, I have made it my goal to be a part of the National Honor Society, in hopes that I can help my school, Middleville, and all who have impacted me. I believe that I represent the characteristics of scholarship, leadership, service, and character, and hope to use these qualities so that others may benefit.
The reason that I am interested in becoming a member of the National Honor Society is because the National Honor Society represents all of the values that I find most important in my education and life. National Honor Society requires academic excellence throughout high school. At the beginning of my Freshman year, I set a goal to graduate with a 4.0 GPA. I have worked diligently to achieve and maintain this grade point average while taking several advanced classes. So far, I have taken three classes for college credit and plan to take multiple more during my senior year. Through the course of my high school education, I have realized how important it is for an individual to develop and maintain these studious habits. All of the habits I have developed through becoming an excellent
