Dream Guy It’s been a long day for Riley and it wasn’t over yet, she still had night school. Sure, it was only 4 hours, but the kids wore her out today as 4 and 5-year-old and 6 months old can be a handful for anyone, especially a 16-year-old. The agreement with her parents, in order to quit school to help her cousins, Angel and Mike, with their kids, was night school. Night school was sort of a highlight though, although she enjoyed being there it was quite different that home. Riley had friends to hang out with, was able to walk to the movies, the store or could catch a bus anywhere. Consequently, there’s just the little park, down the end of the graveled road. Mike, his sister-in-law, Deb, and her niece, Diane, went to night …show more content…
Captivated by his broad shoulders, thick neck, and shoulder length sandy blonde hair, she was busy fantasizing. “So do you like night school,” he asked facing her. Concerned, he could see her heart pounding out her chest, she muttered, “It’s okay.” “Pretty easy stuff, huh? I hear though, you can still get into trouble at night school,” he said, his hazel eyes glistening. “Wow, news sure does travel fast around here. Evidently, it’s possible,” they both chuckled. “Yeah, you would know,” Diane interrupted sarcastically, grabbing David’s attention. The bubble she conceived, that it was just her and David in the room shattered, and with that, she moved to the floor. Engrossed in thought she could barely hear them even though they weren’t but five feet away. Thinking . . . I just want him to reach for me, put his hand on the back of my head, pull me close, and give me the softest, slowest kiss. “Hey! Riley! Everybody’s leaving,” Angel said, tapping her shoulder. Startled, “Oh, okay,” turning towards them, “Bye Donna, Bye David, it was nice meeting you.” “Yep, see ya,” David replied, walking out the door. Riley hopped on the couch to see him through the picture window when suddenly he turned looked at her and smiled. She fell right onto the couch, grinning ear to ear. Unable to sleep with thoughts of David running through her head, she
How would you feel if someone promised you something, but then changed their mind? If you were told you were safe, but the rug was pulled out from under you? Over a half million teenagers and young adults who illegally immigrated to the United States as minors were recently confronted with this reality. DACA, an act passed during Obama’s term that protected them from deportation, was rescinded by the Trump administration on September 5, 2017. After these people, known as Dreamers, had begun to come out of hiding to legally obtain jobs, attend college, and live without fear of deportation, this rescission suddenly suspended their dreams. Now their future is in the hands of Congress. Although many people would like to eject this group, statistics are in favor of their continuing residence. The Dreamers comprise a diverse and valuable group that deserves to stay in the United States. They are not a threat to the United States, nor a financial burden.
Different authors have different styles just as humans express the way we feel by the clothes we dress in or the items we put on our bodies. Styles of types of writing are diction, syntax, and imagery. One author that can easily express his style with these ways is the author Robert Fulghum. In his short story “Dinner Dandruff” his style is expressed greatly by stating his point of views on a serious tone but adding just enough humour.
She forgot how good it felt to have someone pet her, as silly as that sounded. Her eyes closed as her head leaned into Fallen's hand. A long need filled moan slipped free as Fallen's lips once more met hers. The feel of his arousal throbbing in her hand made her ache. She rocked her hips as her thighs tightened around his hand, as if begging for more. Dizzy knew she wouldn't be able to hold out long, she needed to be taken. Even if it was just in this dream world Dizzy needed to feel herself filled, and to feed off the energy that always rushed through Fallen's body.
“Oh,” Castiel smiled and she could almost see him puffing up his chest a little as he wrapped his arms around her and she laid her head on his chest. “Well I’m glad.”
Awake in Owen’s arms she listened to his heartbeat. As the slow thump soothed her mind, she finally let herself think of her relationship with Owen.
In the first chapter of the Some of My Best Friends are Black, where they discuss the bus kid, what I found most interesting was the discussion of Brown v. Board of Education. I had forgotten that this took place in 1954 and was in Topeka. I did not know until reading this book that this was one of many Supreme Court cases that would be consolidated one case, from different states. I figured with this court case being one of the landmark decisions of the civil rights movement, I needed to find out more about it. I got online and found out they had made the Monroe school, the segregated elementary school Linda Brown attended, a national historic site. I went and visited this school because that is how much the Colby book moved me to find
Alivia giggled. “I wasn’t sure if he was going to kiss me, but when I gazed into his seductive blue eyes, I knew.” She hugged Erica. “I’m so happy he did. I feel so warm all over. All I want to do is kiss him again.”
The best part of a long, hard-working day is when you finally get to lay in your bed, close your eyes and let your imagination run free. As you sleep your mind takes you to another place far away from the real world. You begin to dream. Over the night, you may have several dreams. In the morning, you may wake up and wonder what your dreams were suppose to mean for you and your life. By analyzing your dream, it "gives a true picture of the 'subjective state'-how we really feel about ourselves-which the conscious mind cannot or will not give" (Wietz 289). In order to find the meaning of a dream, you have to pick out the most important symbols and define them. But you may be wondering what exactly is a symbol?
"You're beautiful," he told her. The skirt of her dress laid across her back, leaving her ass exposed. As self-conscious as she was about her appearance, Bennett's words rang true. With a push he returned inside of her, and Quinn moaned and tucked her head against her folded arms.
She didn't notice his dread-locked hair had flared out, like a mane as he spoke to her but as she backed down his body language changed. He softened up, purring at her, giving her, a wide space.
When thugs bother Butch, Billy helps her and they begin to form an unlikely friendship, but both Butch and Robbie misinterpret Billy’s relationship with Penelope. Penelope also warns Butch to stay away from Billy.
In this story, the effect of word choice could affect a certain passage and/or sentence in order to bring life or a new meaning. In “Dream of a Ridiculous Man”, one passage that includes the use of diction and syntax include “Dreams, as we all know, are very queer things: some parts are presented with appalling vividness, with details worked up with the elaborate finish of jewellry, while other ones gallop through, as it were, without noticing them at all, as, for instance, through space and time” (Dostoevsky, p.3, Section 2, Paragraph 2). The effect of word choice is shown in this passage due to the fact that the sentence was structured in order for the protagonist to express his views on certain subjects that affect his conscience which happens
To many people, dreams are the thoughts that occur while sleeping, having almost mystic qualities. For millennia the significance of dreams has escaped even the brightest of philosophers and intellectuals. Many people have speculated about why people dream and what meanings the dreams have but in recent times two theories have gained credibility in answering those questions. The first theory is Sigmund Freuds and the other is known as the cognitive theory of dreams also known as biological determinism.
Barack Obama’s Dreams From My Father is exactly what it claims to be by title, a story of race and identity. Barack Obama comes from a diverse background, which he explores throughout the book. Having a white American mother and black Kenyan father, he has a different experience than the majority of people in society when it comes to race and identity, however still it seems similar to the experience of many blacks as described in William E. Cross’s Black Psychological theory, the Nigresence Model of Racial Identity Development. While Obama’s experience does not necessarily occur in chronological order according to Cross’s model, in my opinion, it portrays a good example of how someone enters each stage of
