Both articles are considered research that produce qualitative data, which Elisa J. Sobo describes in her book, Culture & Meaning in Health Services Research, as “narrative data that consist of words, sentences, or visual images (pictures, moving, or still). Qualitative data include particular stories, which often are discussed in terms of the more general story they tell”(Soba, 2009, p.43) Since Paul farmer’s research was conducted on one particular infectious disease, it is common that most would argue that it can be used again if need for another infectious disease that might arise in the future. Again, this means that his research has verifiability, “its findings confirmed as sound, the definitions of concepts and methods must not only
CH 204 – Introduction to Chemical Practice Experiment #1– (Qualitative Analysis of Cations) Ashley Gilbert* Claire LeBovidge TA: Ravi Teja February 15, 2017 RESULTS & DISCUSSION The purpose of this experiment was to have found the identity of unknown cations having used qualitative analysis. The unknows were composed of metal nitrate salts and contained either lead or silver and calcium or barium. Also, cation flame test was performed to test and observe the color the flames turned when a wooden stick, dipped in a metal chloride solution, was waved over the flame. If this experiment was to be repeated, a way to improve the current procedure might be to describe exactly what the test tubes should look like in steps that may be confusing, for example in step 11, it
The authors of this article method of data collection was based on a five-focus group and three individual interviews on the clients that participated in the MBSR training. They analyzed and constantly compared methods to develop a grounded theory (Schellenkens & Jansen, 2015, pg. 1813). They determined that their focus group involved participants that were open for
together with the same reactants used before. Thirdly, mix 0.1M Na2SO4 with those reactants. Then, mix 0.1M NaOH with the same reactants used before again.
Nurses are responsible in providing holistic, quality care to their clients. In order to effectively provide such care Boswell and Cannon (2009, p. 2 & 7) states that nurses must base their provision of care on the most current, up-to-date health information available and sound nursing knowledge. This is where evidence-based practice (EBP) comes in. Polit and Beck (2010, p. 4) defined EBP as "the use of the best clinical evidence in making patient care desicions". This usually comes from research conducted by nurses and other healthcare professionals. Thus it is pertinent that research reports are critically analyzed.
The stated purpose of the article was to evaluate not only pain control in adolescents who underwent a spinal fusion, but also the emotional/psychological and physical affect it had on them. Another stated purpose was to uncover the pre-operation education and preparedness for the surgery. Is it enough to prepare
To answer Research Question 2, the researcher analyzed the responses of childcare staff on the SIS. Wage and program quality data were collected from the Supplemental Information sheet (SIS) created by the researcher (see Appendix B). Two levels of quality were: Level 1 corresponded to state licensing such as acquiring a Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) license; Level 2 corresponded to accreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
In this assignment, various research with regards to different agendas will be discussed and broken down into the approaches that were conducted and the results of these researches. The first study that will be analyzed will be; Factors Involved in Recovery from Schizophrenia: A Qualitative study of Thai Mental Health Nurses. The authors for this research study were; Kaewprom, Chettha; Curtis, Janette; Deane, Frank P. The main point of this study was to investigate international methods, such as those conducted in Thailand and compare and contrast them with American psychiatric approaches in order to improve the
Nkechi Okpara is a second-year graduate student at Montclair State University. She obtained a B.A in psychology at Villanova University, class of 2015. There she conducted qualitative research on the topic of White privilege alongside her mentor Dr. Krista Mallott. Under Dr. Mallot’s supervision, Nkechi co-led a group at a women’s half-way home, and for many events that Dr. Mallot sponsored. Nkechi was involved with the urban Philadelphia school district throughout her undergraduate career. There she was a mentor and a tutor to the elementary aged students and seniors in high school. She started Montclair State University in the fall of 2015. Now she is the vice president of the honors entrepreneur society, as well as the nutrition student
Research methodology generally involves qualitative research or quantitative research, or a mixture of both. A quantitative research methodology involves the analysis of data collected from a large number of surveys or interviews. On the other hand, methodologies for qualitative research often involve using surveys or interviews to collect information about people — their attitudes, experiences and behaviors.
Qualitative research seeks to answer the “why” and not the “how” of the research project that is being conducted, this is done through a complex system of analyzing unstructured information such as survey’s , questionnaires, interviews, interview transcripts, open end survey’s, focus groups, observations, emails, notes, video’s, feed back forms and photo’s; most of the time a qualitative report won’t depend on statistical evidence alone it must be accompanied by detailed facts and proven facts and not hypotheses or in accurate data, this can lead to misunderstanding of data findings and can through the whole aim of the research project off and waste valuable time.
In this lab, it was determined that the overall conversion and recycle ratio of this chemical process system (see figure D.1) are dependent on the fractional recovery of A in the separator, as well as the fractional recovery of B and the fractional conversion of A into B. It was found that in the quantitative analysis of this lab it was found that as the fractional conversion of the reaction (A B) increases, the recycle ratio decreases and the overall conversion of A increases as well. This makes sense, as when more A is converted into B, there is less of a need for recycle. More of the A is consumed and converted into B, and as a result, there is less A to recycle. Similarly, the overall conversion of A to B increases as there is less A
In respect of the overall adopted approach conducted, it is a qualitatively oriented research. By correctly and thoroughly researching current literature and analysing secondary database using a range of bibliographic techniques, the author tries to reinterpret themes and raise implications in an insightful way based upon critical understanding and thinking. Dissertation thus includes an element of original research which mainly be achieved through reflection and reading. To be more specific, towards key questions to be addressed and responded, the writer pulls together and creates a combination of different resources and synthesises common theme and different ideas, thus come up with sufficient analytical detail. Still, the potential resources mentioned are mainly but not limited to existing literature, but also contain world-wide web resources, personal anecdotes, and observations. Because the accuracy of some of the data may be difficult to verify, cross checks of data from multiple sources are expected in order to theses biased factors. Findings eventually are derived from different nationalities globally from a ‘helicopter view’, and this board conceptual study intends to supply an informative picture of motivating Gen Y.
The total amount of surveys to be analyzed was 110, and it was decided to break up each question as much as possible in order to make it easier to analyze.
Through exploratory qualitative research and measurable quantitative research, I will be discussing a final research document which will consider implications of how thought processes work as well as progression groups, and unique techniques through counseling will be applied to substance abuse, as well as addressing how the thought process works and how emotions play a large impact on personal recovery. In the Qualitative research article titled A Cognitive Behavioral Approach to Client Anxiety, Anger, Depression, and Guilt Kevin C. Murphy (1980) discusses how counselors are often trying to find ways to address ways to reach a client to help them through the thought process, through using different therapeutic techniques
It is a time demanding design given that is a qualitative study. In order to manage, there will be research assistants that will help especially in collection of data from the respondents. The data analysis is complex and need time and finance. The thematic approach will be used in addition to prudent coding data (Li, Chen, & Zhu, 2014).
