1. Describe the organization and physical setting of the classrooms you observed. Pay particular attention to safety and accessibility, the physical arrangement of the room, the classroom environment and appearance (Danielson 2e): There are seven groups (of tables) in the classroom. Each group has 4 chairs except the group in the middle: that one has six. There is a sufficient amount of space between the whiteboard and desks for the teacher to walk around. The teacher’s desk is located in the front by the whiteboard. The class has many Spanish posters, however the classroom is for different levels of Spanish ranging from Spanish 1 to Spanish 4. The room is safe and I do not see anything hazardous. The classroom environment is calm …show more content…
Describe how the teacher conveys behavioral expectations to students, handles student misbehavior, student awareness of and compliance with classroom rules and expectations, uses specific types of motivational strategies (token economies, detentions, etc.) (Danielson 2 d) One the first day of school, my teacher told her students that if they respect her, their classmates and themselves it will be a good class. I have rarely seen her class loud, her class is one of the quietest I have seen at my observations. On the other hand, I have seen a teacher make a social contract in the beginning of the year, and have the students sign, so they know what the expectations are for the class. However, my cooperating teacher says that she treats them with respect because one day her students will be driving a two-ton vehicle and that is a great deal of responsibility so she treats like the adults they will become. Her number one rule is: no phones. When she sees a student with a phone she gives them a warning then after that she takes it. There is one student who is always on their phone and my teacher keeps in contact with her parents. One time the student said that their father was texting her in …show more content…
Describe how the teacher creates an environment of respect and rapport with students (showing interest in student activities, use of humor, etc.) (Danielson 2a) My teacher creates an environment of respect and rapport with students by finding ways to ask about their lives. On Mondays, before class begins she asks how everyone’s weekend was and if they did anything fun. The environment of the class is normally peaceful. During class, she often tries to relate the vocabulary to the students. During the food unit, she asked what type of vegetables they eat and which restaurants they go to. Frequently, students pronounce words wrong and my teacher tells the class to repeat it and they can say it right next time. 5. Describe how the teacher establishes a culture for learning (conveying the importance of content, rigorous expectations for achievement, use of the growth mindset, etc.) (Danielson
1, Explain what your main role & responsibilities are as a teacher/trainer in Education and Training (1.1)
A teacher is an elder and figure of authority to all students, and deserve and need to be treated as such. By not respecting their teacher, students are less likely to get a valuable education, as instead of being able to focus their time, attention, and resources on educating their students, they instead have to focus these valuable qualities on trying to control their students and keep them in line. Even if only a few students cause problems, this still harms the entire class, as teachers still have to take the same class time to stop other students’ misbehavior, which is beyond unfair to the students that are behaving in an orderly and respectful manner. Finally, there must be respect for the classroom environment. While a chain of inter-respecting persons is a start, if the students do not respect their environment- vandalizing desks, writing in textbooks, playing in their phones, etc., their learning experience will be cut short, and more permanent damage can harm the learning of succeeding students, as many times, especially in public schools, most resources are reused and are not personal
2. I believe teachers should communicate rules and expectations in a clear and respectful manner in order to minimize confusion and allow students to know what is expected of them and how to succeed in class.
A safe indoor and outdoor environment of a school is very important for the young children safety and wellness. It is important that the indoor environment should be free from all hazards. It should be attractive and functional. The class should have safe equipments. I will arrange a safe and attractive classroom for the 2 year old children because furniture and good indoor environment support children's well being.I will use the furniture that will be comfortable and will have appropriate size. The children will be able to use it easily. The chairs and tables will have comfortable size for eating and working. “ furniture is an important part of the children’s environment.
Describe the observed teaching situation, including seating arrangement, classroom décor, and any additional criteria necessary to present the learning environment.
As environment is one of the first things that must be addressed when welcoming these students into the classroom, it will be the first to be discussed here. According to research, the arrangement of the physical environment can affect not just the students, but the teacher as well. (Weinstein, (1992) The classroom environment should be arranged for optimal access and safety for all students and to accommodate the daily functioning of the
3. How do you engage students in the content? What do you do? What do the students do? How are students leading instruction? (Differentiation)
If one were to spend time in Mrs. D’s classroom, one would quickly notice the established classroom structure. While Mrs. D does not have many rules posted around the classroom, there are several rules and procedures that have been established to ensure that the class is an effective learning environment. For example, the students know that they are supposed to be settled down in their seats and ready to work by the time the tardy bell rings. They also know that unless their seat assignment was changed the previous day, they have assigned seats. Furthermore, since Mrs. D does not spend a significant amount of class time disciplining students or calling attention to misbehaviors, the students know that if
Last Friday, the November 6th, I did a Second Grade classroom observation at an elementary school for curriculum study and I focused on subject matter. According to the textbook, the authors stated that working with young children is exciting, exhausting, and rewarding. For teachers, to do job well requires to build a professional knowledge base that leads to effective teaching (Developmentally appropriate curriculum, p.40). The first preparation of the curriculum practice, a safe, spacious, and comfortable classroom is need to provide student a better learning environment that make students be more focus. When I walk into the classroom, I could see everything was in well-organized. The middle of classroom is couple groups of desks, it is as same as what we learned in the class that young children do not typically sit at desks in rows; the wall near the door was covered with some notes; the opposite wall had some poster with useful information on it; and there were many books below the poster. It looked simple, but it was big enough and built a good and safe learning environment for students.
Which section of the lesson allowed students time to explore their ideas? Observe one group of students and describe what is happening during this time. (If possible, list a few student comments.)

27), having a lesson designed to teach students about self- discipline ( Logan, 2003, pg.3), and addressing all of the different kinds of learning styles to students (Dinsmore, 2003, pg6). Rules that elementary teachers should tell their students in a classroom based upon these guidelines include: keeping folders in a retrievable place (Mandel, 1995), Being on time and coming to school everyday (Macleod. 2004), staying quiet while listening to a fellow classmate speak (gigglepotz.com, 2003), speaking appropriately, respecting one another, not touching anything that belongs to another classmate (LeonHardt, 2000), telling the students to sit in his seat and be quiet until spoken to, being prepared with appropriate supplies for class, and be respectful to the teacher. Having rules in a classroom setting are designed for a teacher to carry out everything he or she has planned each day so that the students can have an enjoyable experience in school.
In this classroom, the teacher was able to manage her students socially, but still give them some social freedom. She managed them well by being very firm and consistent while also being caring and insightful. Because of this, the students were well behaved and most of them focused on the teacher during class. She gave them some freedom by frequently having small group assignments and letting them work in pairs. This let the students interact and learn with each other while still maintaining control of the classroom.
When an organization knows that customers or people are going to be spending a significant amount of time in a physical setting, they must plan accordingly and provide a functionally and aesthetically appealing environment. Yet, when their goal is to serve them as quickly as possible and encourage them not to linger, they want to provide quick service, but not put so much time into comfort and aesthetics (Fisk, Grove, John, page 69, 2014).
The quality of teacher- student relationship is the keystone for all aspects of classroom management. (Marzano and ,Marzano, 2003)
