The National Honor Society is a very prestigious organization designed to help students gain endless, lifelong opportunities. I am absolutely honored to be considered as an applicant to become a member of NHS. Since I arrived at this campus, I have admired the members of NHS and have observed their achievements in hope that one day I can reach their success.
This organization’s function is to enhance its member’s personal character and academic performance. This club serves as a stepping stone to become a college ready student and advance in experience while giving back to my community. I feel my participation in NHS is vital to prepare myself for college, and strive to pursue my lifelong dream of having an occupation in health care.
Being chosen by my teachers and other leaders to be a candidate for membership in the National Honor Society is a great honor for me. Joining the National Honor Society will provide me with the skills to apply myself towards helping the community of Manassas Park. As a junior, I wish to challenge myself towards furthering my ambitions. Contributing to NHS would allow me to bring my skills from volunteering and my experience job shadowing and use them to help the community of Manassas Park. Volunteering and job shadowing has helped me feel a greater sense of pride and identity towards myself. As a determined, respectable student , joining NHS will allow myself to grow and contribute to my community. I am writing in response to the letter that I have received to apply for the National Honor Society, and I am interested in becoming a member. NHS was first brought to my attention my freshman year, through peers and some teachers who would talk about all of the good outcomes and opportunities that can come about from being a member. From that point on, that has been my goal. I have worked as hard as I could to get up to where I am today.

In order to be accepted into the prestigious organization known as National Honor Society, four main requirements must be met. These requirements are scholarship, service, character, and leadership. Throughout this essay I will strive to show that I hold all of the previously stated qualities to a great measure. I believe that during my three years at Holy Trinity Diocesan High School I have properly exhibited and expanded these qualities to their fullest potential therefore qualifying me for the position as a member of the National Honor Society.

The National Honor Society is an organization that serves the community while building the character of the individuals who are members. The National Honor Society provides the opportunity for a member to serve their community, and earn experience that will influence the rest of their life. Individuals are not separate from their community, and the NHS will provide its members with the opportunities to enrich the community together. As an individual, my capacity to serve my community is limited by individual talents, but as a member of the NHS I will better be able to serve my community in a group of like-minded individuals with different talents and abilities. Upon entering high school, I hoped that one day I would get the chance to apply for the National Honor Society. Now that the day is finally here, I believe it is such a high honor to be considered in the company of so many students whom I admire for their impeccable intellect.
Throughout middle school, I participated in NJHS. I enjoyed the club and my advisors always recommended that I join NHS in high school. I like to think that I deserve this honor and this chance because I have worked very hard to get here. Leadership is one of my greatest attributes, and helping others is a passion of mine. I see this society as another avenue in which I can challenge myself, and set myself up for success. There are many benefits of being an NHS member, scholarships and recognition being some, but these are overshadowed by the effect of the expectations applied to students. Leadership, character and community service are all required for each member. These are lifelong skills that are sharpened within NHS.
