Nhs Accomplishments

First and foremost I would like to thank you for recognizing me as a candidate for the National Honors Society. I hope that you will see me as someone that can bring new ideas and positivity to the group, as well as being open to trying new things and growing within my faith. Including myself in all types of service is very important to me. I am very passionate about helping and bringing joy to others lives when they are in need of it the most. There is so much more I can bring to the table and I hope that you will see me as a great addition to NHS.

I believe that I do merit selection for NHS. One of the main reasons that I believe that I should be selected for the National Honor Society is my work outside of school hours. Outside of school I keep score for basketball and am very heavily involved at my church The House Mountain Grove. Other things that I do outside of school include various community projects including the Cabool “Seniors Rock” 5k run three years ago. At school events I represent Mansfield proudly, I have been first chair tuba in Summit Conference for a consecutive three years, and I made district band my freshman year. Many only see the National Honor Society as an organization that will look excellent on college applications, and although that may be true, the National Honor Society is not an organization that can be taken so lightly. The National Honor Society is so much more than a scholarship-granting organization, the NHS is an organization that helps develop the requisite for render service and the development of leadership and character. The growth and success of the NHS relies on not only its members, but also those outside of the organization. Its members can only do so much on their own. Part of building character and leadership is to encourage and rely on others whom are capable of helping. The members of NHS shouldn’t let their pride and achievements

I am excited to be considered as a candidate for National Honor Society (NHS). Through friends and family, I know the main characteristics a NHS member must hold include scholarship, leadership, service, and character. Through hard work, I have been able to hold a GPA over 3.8 in both 9th and 10th grade; this shows my strong dedication to scholarship. I am a dedicated person who enjoys giving back to the community; I have participated in many volunteer activities, and I would love the opportunity to continue my volunteer work as a NHS member. If I am given the privilege of NHS membership, I will continue to uphold my commitment to service and leadership.

“We all have dreams. But in order to make dreams come into reality, it takes an awful lot of determination, dedication, self-discipline, and effort.” When Jesse Owens said this, he probably was thinking about success in sports, but this quote can be taken in so many more ways. I view it in the way where it inspires others to have the willpower to achieve life's’ goals. To have full devotion to the task at hand is a major quality of an honors student. I have reached the point in my life where I am able to dedicate my time to something as important as National Honors Society. The honor of being considered for NHS is not something I should take so lightly. There are still the four aspects of being a member that the honors society values deeply; leadership, service, character, and citizenship.

The National Honor Society is for high school seniors who have “demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, and character”. At John Marshall we really push the “service” area. There are so many different reason I wanted to be a part of NHS; It gives me satisfaction that I was able to become a member of such an elite society, it also is very rewarding to give back to a community that has done so much for me. Each service project I have volunteered at has taught me something different. Since July, I have volunteered at eleven different projects (over 32 hours), and I have learned something new every time. When I volunteered at the Marshall County Family Resource Network’s gift packaging for teenagers at Cameron High and Middle, Moundsville Middle, Sherrard Middle and John Marshall High Schools, I didn’t realize there were so many of my peers in need of simple hygiene products. It inspired me to help and give back to them by donating to Paws for a Cause at John

Scholarship, leadership, character and service are all characteristics found in a National Honor Society member. I believe that I possess all of these characteristics and should be given the honor of receiving this NHS scholarship.

Though my primary goal is to ameliorate my leadership skills, there are many reasons for my wanting to become a member of the National Honor Society. Not only would my membership appeal to colleges to whom I may be applying to, it would challenge me in such a way as to further develop valuable life skills, such as responsibility and character. Any collective efforts or activities made would allow me to build teamwork capabilities, hone project management aptitude, and make friends. My acceptance into the NHS would also guarantee future access to applications for the NHS Scholarship Program, which will financially aid me in entering the college of my choice.

Being the Vice President of the National Honor Society (NHS), it was of paramount importance for me to present the benefits of not only being a member of the National Honor Society but to present all of the opportunities available from being a member as well. I feel honored to have the opportunity to be a part of the National Honor Society. There are several reasons, such as having a strong character, earning a scholarship to a dream school, demonstrating my leadership skills on and off of the club, and the service I’m prepared to sacrifice to the National Honors Society. However, after reviewing all of the reasons, the pillar in which I excel is leadership. I believe it is the most suitable quality for the NHS. I've played a variety of sports in my life ranging from basketball, football, track, and baseball, and they’ve influenced me not only as a player and my performance, but have also aided me in various aspects of my life that have fulfilled my qualities as an individual.

I remember last year after receiving the letter from NHS that I had not been accepted into National Honors Society, as dreadful as it was to receive that bad news I learned many things that emphasize and describe my character. I noticed how throughout Freshman and part of Sophomore year of High School I was just a student who focused heavily on school work rather that combining school work with a social and meaningful life. After realizing my past I had to act on that and change the way I once was, I recognized how much I lacked in leadership and service within the community. After completing my twelve year studies at my local Sunday School I decided to help the school out by assisting the office and teachers by completing the tremendous amount

Hello , im Jenna sunderland, I would love to be a part of the National Honor Society. Being considered as a candidate is a huge honor. Being conducted into NHS would be an atonishing achievement for me. This is my first year even being cinsidered in the three years ive been in Moore public Schools. Im filled with great excitement!

The National Honors Society allows students to be build and create traits that are essential in a successful adult. I truly believe that hold many of these traits and joining the National Honor Society will grant me the opportunity to expand on these traits and grow as a person. Thus far I have focus greatly on the scholarship aspect of NHS and have been dedicated to my academics. I have held my GPA above 4.0 and have always been devoted to maintaining that high level of academic success. The skills I have shown in devoting myself to my academics can be easily translated into my dedication for the other aspects of leadership, service and character. On Oct. 21, students were selected to be in National Honor Society during a “tapping” ceremony at the high school. Almost all of the students and staff at GHV are in attendance of the ceremony and act as onlookers. During this ceremony, students who are either juniors or seniors meeting the NHS requirements and having submitted an application wait in anticipation as current members walk around the auditorium delivering paper slips of admission.

I am deeply honored to be recognized as an eligible candidate for the National Honors Society. After learning about the National Honor Society, and what the organization represented, I knew it was something I wanted to participate in. This organization works hard to better educational opportunities for students across the nation, and that is something I would like to play a part in to further the outstanding reputation of the NHS. I believe that this is an opportunity I deserve due to my recognizable hard work. I am aware that the NHS is known for recognizing students with outstanding grades and commendable characteristics, which is something I believe I have obtained throughout my years of hard work.
