Crowdsourcing is the use of customer feedback or consumer review. It has now moved forward to be common in advertisements such as the Dorito’s Crash the Superbowl ad, “a program that relies on the consumer to turn its Super Bowl airtime into one of the most memorable ads of the evening” (Erickson 2012.) The Internet has influenced the power of crowdsourcing by making it available to everyone in a click of a button.
The Dorito’s Crash the Superbowl ad has inspired other people in marketing to use crowdsourcing through out. In the article “Crowd-Powered: Why Doritos Lets Fans Make Its Super Bowl Ads” Erickson states that, “USA Today ran a Facebook Super Bowl Ad meter, with a separate $1 million up for grabs. The new AdMeter allowed users to view and vote on the ads.” (Erickson 2012.)

Social media has allowed crowdsourcing to expand campaigns like the Facebook Super Bowl Ad. Being able to vote on ads, pictures, and who wins contests is becoming a new fad in this day and age. BBC News lists several big name companies that use crowdsourcing such as; Linux, Android, and Wikipedia where people are able to write their own programs and submit their own definitions. (Castella 2010.) Castella also makes a great point when he states, “the employee suggestion box has been around for years.” (Castella 2010.) Jared Kleinert, a contributing writer to Forbes, states that the phrases crowdsourcing and “internet of things” is "Overused because they cover a variety of activities and companies. Crowdsourcing can mean raising money on a platform like Kickstarter or Indiegogo, and it can also mean getting people together for an impromptu flash mob. Internet of Things can refer to almost any pairing of hardware and software that makes our “stuff” smarter.” (Kleinert 2015.) Moving crowdsourcing online has given companies viable options to take these suggestions in a faster, easier way that includes
The Superbowl Commercial I thought was good was the one with Antman and the Hulk. In this commercial Antman had a mini coke and the Hulk was chasing Antman for it. They both stopped on a buildings roof and the Hulk told Antman that he wanted it. Antman gave the mini coke to the Hulk and he could not get it open because his fingers were to big. Antman jumped onto the coke and opened it for him.
If this was your thought, then you should be surprised to learn that a multi-billion dollar company like Doritos has hosted a contest for the past 10 years to see who will create their ad.
The program that I viewed was Kids Junior Chopped on Food Network. It is considered to be American reality based cooking television game show that has junior kids competing for an end prize. In the short little breaks that are given for commercials to be shown, there was over 6 different commercials and they all happened one right after the other. I have never been really fully conscious as to how quick and short commercials really are, but after viewing this 30 minute show it was brought to my attention that commercials can’t be too long because they need to be able to hold your attention and in the short span of time it needs to be something that will catch a viewer’s eye. Although, often times there are commercials that we just want to end
In the past twelve months, there has been one advertising campaign that has stuck out amongst the rest. This advertisement can not only be seen on television, but also at your local movie theater before the opening credits. This advertisement campaign is Geico 's "Spy" commercial. This commercial features a US spy that is combating operatives when his cell phone rings. When he picks up, his mother is on the other side of the line complaining about his father refusing to hire pest control to get rid of the squirrels, as it is personal this time. The commercial then goes on to say, "if you are a mom you call at the worst time, it is what you do. If you want to save 15 percent on car insurance you switch to Geico. It 's what you do" (Mother Knows Best, 2015). This paper will discuss the success of the Geico advertisement.
One of the best examples of a memorable image in an advertisement is the doritos superbowl commercial for 2016. In the commercial, there is a women pregnant in a hospital who has her husband with her. The husband is eating doritos as she is hooked up to ultrasound. Now, the baby, seeming as though it likes doritos, tries to reach for the dorito in the husband's hand. The baby went quite far to try to get the dorito, and I am leaving it at that. Now, this commercial is quite memorable since the thought of a baby going after the dorito will stick in people’s mind, for the better or worse. The next commercial that had good image was Lay’s: Do us a flavor commercial. In short, the viewer was shown 4 new flavors of Lay’s, and asked them to try
Firms like Google and Facebook have created profound shifts in the way firms advertise and individuals and organizations communicate. New technologies have fueled globalization, redefined our concepts of software and computing, crushed costs, fueled data-driven decision making, and raised privacy and security concerns.
How will your knowledge of critical appraisal of studies (i.e. clinical research articles) allow you to contribute to the goals of your employing hospital or facility when you graduate as an advance degree nurse?
Technology and computerization has taken over almost every major industry today. More people purchase their movie tickets through an application on their phone, do their Christmas shopping online, deposit checks by taking a picture on their phone. Some people can even earn their degree without stepping their foot into a classroom, obtaining it completely online. With all of these advances in so many different
GPS, drones, spying, and nuclear war are all capabilities of the everyday items around us. These “normal” devices such as an iPhone or computer are all part of an enormous web infrastructure called the internet of things (IOT). The internet of things is a link between the online world and the physical world through connected devices which can achieve physical accomplishments such as taking a pulse. The Internet of things was said to have been discovered in 1999 during a presentation at Procter and Gamble. When Business moguls were trying to find a way to make the internet profitable, they manufactured the term internet of things. Ironically, IOT tracked its usage of term online through “Google Trends”. According to Google, since 2004 IOT was
Super Bowl Sunday is an important day not only for the NFL, but also for advertisers. Considering that over one-hundred million viewers watch the annual championship game, it’s consequently one of the most highly sought events for advertisers. Giving companies the opportunity to immense exposure comes at a cost, however. Not only does creativity needs to be at its peak, but so do budgets. The cost to air an ad is about $5 million per thirty seconds, which doesn’t include the cost of production and any other required marketing activities. Although this Super Bowl LI has proven to be a lackluster year with advertisements, there were a few noteworthy commercials that exhibited a strong understanding of consumer behavior.

Each year the SuperBowl commercials generate exceptionally high advertising revenues due to this event's ability to attract a very broad audience. Advertisers pay close attention to the demographics and psychographics of the viewers, looking for an opportunity to speak directly to their core demographic and psychographic segments with clear, compelling and emotionally stirring messages. The costs of producing and airing a SuperBowl commercial are so significant that many advertisers complete extensive tests of their concepts and multiple versions of their ads before choosing the best possible one for the expensive time slots purchased (Vranica, 2012).
The almost omnipresent Internet transforms our lives, connecting us to family, friends, and the world in ways inconceivable only a few years ago. Through social media, we actively participate in creating, editing, and consuming a never-ending stream of data. Private corporations and protagonists of political or social change all vie to reach and engage highly targeted
With the increased use of technology, there are new dangers of stolen information. More patients check their records online with their home computers, tablets or cell phones. This data loss can result from the device itself being lost or stolen, third party apps siphoning off data, or by sharing files through public cloud services. The patients are accessing their records, scheduling their doctors’ appointments via text or app, and health care providers are wirelessly sharing data. The health care industry has to acclimate to these changes in accessing patient information and make sure that their mobile access is secure and HIPAA compliant. They also need to find new ways to protect patient data, no matter how the data is being accessed. Of course, there is always the possibility of user error and the patients being at fault for divulging their personal information. Health care companies have to make sure that their staff and their patients are aware of ways to prevent compromising their data. Professionals should be trained and aware that it is not ok for them to email any patients’ records with the possibility of the transmission not being encrypted or the destination not being HIPAA compliant. The staff has to be prepared for any malicious occurrences in to protect the company’s networks. Due to increase in social media and people telling their life stories over the wide web, the privacy factor has become a grey area. Making sure that an end user is informed not to open
The Internet of Things, or as many people like to call it IoT, is a wide growing industry with technology that is advancing each and every day. Physical objects are becoming mapped with technology that us humans will eventually come in contact with and interact over the internet. The Information Technology world feeds off of this industry because the internet is storing this data that we use, and the IT industry just comprehends it. With more physical objects being mapped in the real world, the IT industry will need more people to help control all of the systems and data that is being used. An example of this is if a company lacked a certain product then that problem would be reported to the company and further deliveries would be conducted (Weber, Pg. 23) This fast growing industry is remarkable, and the developments of the legal, social, ethical, and security, can be just as astounding.
