Dietitians deal directly with other people most of the time about sensitive issues so having an appropriate attitude is very important. I am already a people person so this will help me in my future career. Some key traits are attention detail, self-control, and concern for others. These traits will help when dealing with patients, which can sometimes be difficult. The ability to be outgoing will help when teaching large groups of people and giving presentations, which is also a major part of a dietitian’s career. Scientists strive for objectivity, a value that requires some elimination of variation in seeking to find the one truth. These basic foundational rules of science limit what can and cannot be recommended by the disciplines that science informs. Dietitians are also bound to the same rules of scientific understanding by the principal of evidence-based practice, and can only provide clients with what the science says at this time. Unfortunately, it is impossible to reconcile the understandings science currently has regarding the human body with optimal dietary recommendations.

This is my first year at Brigham Young University and I declared my major as Pre- Dietetics. Interested in Dietetics as I am, however, I still want to challenge myself with Nursing. The major is intensive itself and highly competitive. If I am qualified for the rigorous Nursing program, I would graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree after four years of college. If not, I would pursue a bachelor degree in Dietetics and after that I would go for a master degree in the field. I would like to work for a nursing home or a hospital if there is an opportunity, since I like helping people in need, especially those on poor health condition.

After I obtain my BS at ASU, I will do my internship at a hospital or a clinic to get my 1200 hours that is required in Dietetic/Nutrition in order to take my exam. The Healthy Lifestyle coaching program will give me the ability to help coach people in the areas of food choices, fitness lifestyle and overall disease prevention by teaching clients to eat healthy.
The science related career that I chose was a dietitian. The main parts of this job are to help and tell people about healthy eating and living. Some of the other tasks of a dietitian are, giving people advice about healthy eating, making presentations, doing reports, making sure that people can accept their illnesses, explain health nutrition to the public, helping people with dietary changes and knowing all the key health needs. Dietitians are trained health care professionals. They have to know how to help people change their eating habits to help people with sometimes life threatening illnesses. A dietitian researches new ways to improve health care and can prepare future dietitians for their jobs.
