I remember once hearing: “To reach the impossible you just have to try a little harder”. Sometimes I feel like I don’t try my hardest, therefore I don’t get the results I want. I’m in high school right now as a junior, meaning that the decisions I make from now on are crucial and will affect my future. A big step to accomplish what I want to do when I grow up, is planning for what I will do after I graduate from high school and how I’m going to surpass the obstacles that will be presented to me. Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC), home of the blue beards, is reputed for being a “Military-Friendly College”. DMACC is a “Community College” meaning that the prices for tuition are hundreds even thousands of dollars cheaper than the tuition for a private or public four-year-university. For example, Wayland Baptist University charges about four times more than DMACC for tuition making DMACC a more appealing option. Having how to pay for College is one of the most important things about it, and is crucial to know your options. As a first option you have the money you and your parents have saved for college. The second option and the better shot is the financial aid and scholarships acquired, to continue the education. A third option is working while attending college, which is not a bad idea to keep students occupied and help the pay for college. The last option and not the most convenient unless needed is student loans. Student loans are money that is borrowed from federal or state government, or private banks. (“Student”) They are known for being very hard to pay and they remain on the borrowed record until they are paid. (“Student”) Once a student found a way to pay for its higher education there are other factors to consider, for example fees and expenses but most importantly: where to live while attending college. There’s also options for this problem, either you rent an apartment, you live with a relative or you live on campus. In case of wanting to live on campus the residency requirements are: proof of residency and completion of the DMACC Request for Residency Status form.
