Its great to start taking college courses, which are offered through a student's local high school, so that he or she may better understand what college will be like. Along with this, when taking courses in high school, students often get a bargain, for these class credits are usually much cheaper. Yet, taking early college classes also have some negative aspects. First of all, because these subjects tend to be harder than regular high school classes, they could give students the wrong idea of what college will be like. Second, a student's overall high school Grade Point Average, (GPA), may suffer, if the student is not quite ready for college level studies. Nonetheless, by taking early college classes, students are able to take advantage of an excellent opportunity to work on their first college level subjects, in a more familiar and less threatening high school

My purpose for attending college again is to enhance my opportunities within the field of education. I have been teaching high school level social science courses for over a decade, and I am ready to advance into administration. Having already attained the administrator endorsement on my teaching license, I believe it would be beneficial to have a degree in Business Administration to stand out in a pool of candidates. Running a school is not greatly dissimilar from running a business. If this helps me with my career goals, I will consider it to have been time well

Furthermore, this plan would restore an inspiration in many students to stay in school and motivate other people to go back to school. Older people who couldn’t go to college or dropped out would be inspired to go back and achieve their dream of obtaining some type of college degree. According to Rosabeth Kanter, "Imagine that future: fifty- and sixty-somethings gathering on a college campus for a year or two of advanced study…to eradicate diseases, end poverty, reverse global warming, raise literacy rates” (qtd in Neal). This elaborates on the wisdom and experience that older people have; they just need the knowledge and credits to take their leadership to the next level.

The first key point that Levy discusses is the motivation for why people go to university. Levy identifies three main reasons for students to attend university. The first reason is vocational. What this means is that students go to university because they have recognised that gaining a higher education and furthering their studies will provide them with a wider range of career opportunities. The second reason is scholastic. This means that students go to university for personal enrichment and for a love of learning, as they believe that a personal interest is essential to remaining at university studies. They are not solely driven by the desire to gain more money. The third reason is social. This means that students go to university for the social life. Levy discusses that the reason for why these students have this motivation is due to them living close to the campus or still living with their parents at home. He later discusses that they were unlikely to progress beyond the first year of university a number of them realised that university is not about partying, it is all about working hard.
Living in America I am given many opportunities to pursue my education such as being surrounded by fantastic colleges and being the first person in my family to graduate high school and attend college.I am determined to have a great profession and make my parents proud. An important short-term goal is attending Mercer University for both undergraduate and graduate school with the most financial aid as possible My parents emigrated from India and came here with nothing. They have suffered through many hardships financially and personally to provide for my sister and I. Due to my dad’s health issues he is forced to retire and stay home. Our expenses solely rely on my mother’s income and the income I receive from my part time job. Since my family’s funds are limited, applying for financial aid is critical in order for me to attend college.
Why did I decide to attend college? I chose this path for my life when I was very young, both of my parents attended some form of higher education. They both ended up living fairly well, I decided that I wanted to be successful in life as well and that going to college would be an integral part of my future. I want to be able to live in comfort; be able to be a productive member of my community still, become an adult, and be able to understand things in a new light.
Knowing that most students want to get a degree as quickly as possible, some colleges and universities have offered accelerated programs that allow students to use life experiences in lieu of course credits. One such institution, Friends University has offered life experience credits for several years. These life experiences may be based on a student's work or volunteer history. Some students, in fact, are able to gain half their college credits for such activities as working as a nurse's aide, volunteering at a battered women's shelter or starting a business. While the ability to accelerate getting one's college degree; does get a person into the work world, quickly going through college at a fast pace have a downside? Traditionally college
