These will include the needs and requirements of the children/young person firstly. The service should meet the needs of the children and young people, such as changing the service to suit the children and young people’s individual needs, age and abilities. The Childcare Act 2006 measures the important strategic role local authorities play, through a set of duties.
Food Hygiene Legislation 2006 focuses the responsibility on food business operators to produce food safety. It states that the methods you use to ensure food safety is maintained should be effective and proportionate.

In my work place we ensure the safety of our staff and the young people who attend the college by following The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, it is the employers duty to put policies and procedures into place to ensure that our setting is meeting the standards of the Health and Safety at Work Act. We follow this act by ensuring the building and environment around the building is well maintained, clean and safe for the young people and staff to use. We have systems in place to ensure the safety of the young people and staff that attend the building, such as the Fire Alarm system (which is tested once every two weeks), the signing in book (all visitors, staff and students must use the signing in book when they arrive in the building and

The children act 1989 has influenced some settings by bringing together several sets of guidance and provided the foundation for many of the standards practitioners sustain and maintain when working with children. The act requires that settings work together in the best interests of the child and form partnerships with parents or carers. It requires settings to have appropriate adult to child ratios and policies and procedures on child protection. There are many legislation acts relating to health and safety. These include :- • Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 • Control of Substances Hazardous to Health regulation (COSHH) • Manual Handling legislation 1992 • Reporting of injuries, dies eases and dangerous occurrences regulations (RIDDOR) • Food Safety Act 1990 • Health and Safety First Aid Regulations 1981 1.2 The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 states the employer, employees and service users have a responsibility to ensure safety is well maintained in your place of work. Policies and procedures protect people by providing a set of rules and regulations that must be followed by care staff and organisations.
The fundamental point of the regulation is to diminish risk by requiring the evaluation of all potential dangers and the establishing plans in the case of emergencies. The regulation forces an obligation on employers to review all likely dangers for all their employees. Employers must complete and review all risk assessments at set times and make adjustments to security plans if there are any critical changes.
When looking at the indoor area, it must have equipment that can be used safely and effectively when needed however there must also be no open socket that the children hurt themselves, there must be a reasonable area of space so that they can get around without injuring themselves. Indoor area must have fire exits so that the children are able to get out in case of fire.
Work place policy and procedure these policy explain how the organisation takes the responsibility of health and safety procedure and they take a responsibility of ant accident that happens in their organisation. They prepare their own statement which include “risk assessments, fire safety, first aid, accident reporting, electrical safety, work equipment, hazardous substances, manual handling and other workplace issues”(http://www.healthyworkinglives.com/advice/Legislation-and-policy/Workplace -Health-and-Safety/health-safety-policy) and it must be bring to the attention of all employee.
