In my opinion, cursive writing should not be taught today. First, it takes too much time. Second, it’s frustrating for parents. Cursive writing hasn’t been taught in schools for a while and will result in increased difficulties for students now and in the future. There are many things that involve cursive writing such as writing signatures or reading old documents. I think cursive writing should be taught because cursive inspires creativity, can be used as a tool, and develops motor skills for our brains. In my opinion, because cursive has many benefits, this form of writing should be taught in schools today.

In both of these articles the authors discuss and give reason on why cursive writing should be taught in schools, and why cursive writing is obsolete. The author of "Cursive Is a Powerful Brain Tool" believes that cursive is essential for making our brains more stronger and functional. The ways cursive helps, is that by writing things down by hand it helps us process material better and medical brain scans show that it also helps with "fine motor-skill development and stimulates both the right and left parts of the brain". People with brain injuries might lose the ability to read in write, but in some case were still able to read and write in cursive. Based off the knowldege and facts of the last two articles and my own opinions ofcourse. I feel as though cursive writing is just a waist of time considering all time it takes to teach and how so many people including a certain amount of teachers cant even write in cursive. writing in standard form is alot more simpler considering that everyone can read it, and for cursive not to many people can distinguish the dialect and letters its alot more complicated then it seems.

Taught more than thirty decades ago, cursive writing has a famed and legendary past. It was once a vital element of American education but is now becoming an archaic artefact as technology advancement and the requirement of more regulated tests push it out of the education system. Cursive writing should be scrapped out of the education system for there is no need of wasting time and resources to continue teaching a skill that won’t be beneficial to the students in the near future.

In the first article the author states "Writing by hand helps individuals remember ideas better than typing". From my own experience i can say that cursive writing for me would help me perform better on tests. Learning cursive can help millions of people. The article also states "It requires students to summarize ideas rather than simply recording every word the teacher says". This shows that cursive writing isn't useless; its a tool we can still use.

I also think that cursive should be implemented immediatly in High Schools since High Schoolers have a immense amount of information they might need to retain for a job in the future. There has been an issue all around the United States for the past twenty years. Should cursive writing be taught in schools? Schools may think that computer literacy is a better topic for kids to learn, but writing fluently should take place of that class. We all need to start considering cursive handwriting as a class topic instead of computer courses.

Why wouldn't you want to learn cursive writing? Cursive writing is good for our minds. When writing it down on paper, you remember what you wrote better. Cursive writing is good for people that have brain injuries or weakness. All teachers need to teach their students cursive writing.

One cool fact I found was that 41 states don’t require cursive anymore. That’s more than half of the U.S! In my opinion, I don’t think students should be taught how to write cursive, it’s a waste of time. Although, I think students should be taught how to read it. To begin, with there is still a lot of cursive in the world, next, reading cursive helps our brain with many things, lastly, if schools don’t teach students how to read cursive are we going to read old documents.
