Everyday there are teens getting into crime. In the book the Outsiders by S.E Hinton there are a group of boys that are called Greasers and they get into a lot of trouble late at night. They get into fights with another group called the Socs, which are rich popular kids. Many people believe that curfews would not have helped the characters. A curfew would have impacted the characters greatly. Many parents think that having a curfew is bad for their child because it takes away from their free time. I feel that a curfew keeps them from having time to do illegal actions. Parents that have responded to Are Public Curfews Fair? explain that kids that have curfews take away from their free time. As stated in the text “ Curfews violate a Minors right”. This shows in the Outsiders when Ponyboy got into trouble for staying out till 4 O'clock in the morning with Darry. That led him to running away and a becoming a witness of a murder scene. However, there is an alternative which is to have a curfew. Having a curfew will keep kids out of late night crimes. Studies show that when a curfew was set …show more content…
However, it helps adults with kids that do not listen and keeps them in Earlier. Lots of adults have spoken out about how Law set curfews wouldn't help their child get inside earlier. “ We don’t need laws to keep our children in at a certain time”. If the greasers had set curfews for laws it would have kept them from bringing nuisance to the neighborhood. Anyway there is a benefit if curfews are set because many kids don’t listen to their parents but with a set curfew it can help get their kids in earlier. From experience i see kids that dont listen to their parents and a set curfew helped the parents get their child in earlier. Just like in The Outsiders Johnny never listened to his parents but with a set curfew he would have been at his house or friends inside and
My opinion is that curfew was set to protect minors but, there are plenty of reason why a minor would be out passed curfew and there should be system where some minors can exempt the law like having parental permission.
Although having a curfew for it to be illegal for teenagers to be on the streets after ten o’clock p.m. on weekdays or after midnight on weekends would be beneficial in exceptional and deficient ways, many citizens will disagree with having a curfew. The eminently important reason Dierks, Arkansas, should have a teenage curfew is for the security of the teenagers. Another reason is for the parent to have control over their child, instead of their child being undisciplined. On the other hand, having a curfew could hinder maturity.
Another important factor is the way in which the enforcers respond to the curfew violators. Sometimes, these minors may not be out after hours because they want to, but because they have no other choice. There are some children who do not have anybody to look after them so they have to make things happen on their own. It is important to be very delicate in situations like this because it could trigger some emotions from the child and they may already be going through a tough time.
Some minors receive fines for curfew issues up to five hundred dollars, or even have to do work for the community. A curfew is a time you have to be in at night. Although many people in The Outsiders didn’t have a curfew, I believe if they had one, it would have helped them.
Sadly, the law is loosing a way to fight for public curfews. A public curfew is when the law has a curfew set for the town, and anyone who breaks the curfew gets arrested. In the book the Outsiders by S.E Hinton, a public curfew would have been highly unnecessary. Out of all of the main characters, Pony was the only one who had a curfew. In the book he normally had passed that time, and Darry was never balmy about it. Some reasons to support no curfew would be about crime, rights and the fact that the law “stands up for parents”.
A curfew is a set time people have to be indoors at night. Some argue that there should be curfews, and vice versa. In S.E. Hinton’s The Outsiders, it can be debated whether a curfew would have helped the characters or not. Almost the entirety of the book’s major events happen in the nighttime; some are good, but some are not. Although a curfew would have given the characters in The Outsiders some disadvantages, it would have helped them in the long run.
In many towns, in many states, and in many countries, there are curfews. In The Outsiders by S. E. Hinton, the boys Pony, Soda, and Darry have gone through many crimes that have coincidently occurred during the hours of the night. In the article, “Are Public Curfews Fair?” by ReadWorks, it discusses whether public curfews are fair or not, as the name suggests. A curfew may have helped the characters of The Outsiders, but by the way it looks, there are many reasons that show that curfews wouldn’t have helped the characters.
According to what was just said people say that curfews don’t lower teen crime for towns or cities. However in the book Outsiders the crime is horrific, there is gang fights and robberies everywhere. A curfew would help the crime that has caused issues all over the town where the greasers live. “ Hey whatta ya know. He said a little unsteadily, “ Here’s the little greasers that picked up our girls.”
Many teenagers have a set time they have to be home by their parents. Usually teenagers must be home from dates and nights out with friends by anywhere from 10 o’clock at night to 2 o’clock in the morning. Each parent has extremely different curfews set for their children, based on the individual level of responsibility and trust levels. Some local government decides to set their own curfews, to keep teens off the streets at night and out of trouble. Many people argue whether this actually solves anything, or is even legal to do, since it is taking away a piece of teenager’s freedom. Although there are many good and bad points to enforcing curfews, they should be less enforced because they do not necessarily keep teens out of trouble,
Curfews give teens the chance to change and it works because they have less time out to cause the trouble and get Pregnant do vandalism, go stealing take drugs, smoke Cigarettes, and have under age sex get involved
In addition to everything previously mentioned, curfews can also greatly improve a teenagers relationship with their parents. Knowing that your teenager is home safe and sound at a specific time definitely beats waiting up every weekend until the hours of the night wondering if he/she is
One other reason why curfews keep teens out of trouble is that curfews set by parents are a way of showing that the parents care about the teen. (Boekestein, 2010) suggests that teens actually want to spend time with their parents but do not know how to. A curfew is the brainchild of parents all over the world to make sure that their teen is safe and also to be able to spend quality time with them while they still can. Without the curfew, teens would spend all their time with their friends but miss out on the most important people of all, which are their parents. Although it might not seem that curfews are a way to spend time with the teen, it surely is. According to (Boekestein, 2010), a teen said what all teens were trying to say, which is they don’t care about other things in life, they love their parents and would like to spend more time with them than they normally do. A teen also said that he only talks to his parents in the car or during dinner as their hectic schedule demands the parents to be on their toes all the time.
My first reason is that parents should decide their child's curfew . For example , it may not bother a parent that their child is out late with their friends
After work, many drivers don't go straight home; some may go out to bars, while others may text and drive and drive tired. These dangerous drivers can threaten the lives of both other drivers and the pedestrians they pass by. Malicious people also become more prevalent in the evening hours, such as pedophiles, rapists, and murderers. All of these previously mentioned groups pose very clear and present dangers to today's youth; by adopting a curfew, parents will know that their children are not exposed to these dangers and the government will possible see a decrease in the commonality of these dangerous and potentially life threatening incidents. Many people, however, disagree with the necessity of the creation of a curfew, stating that it would interfere with teen's lives and the maturation process. While it is important to take into account what a teen may wish to do, it is most important that their safety and security is ensured. Part of growing up is learning to handle more things on your own, and perhaps a curfew would interrupt that process; however, a teacher and mentor of any quality would never simply toss his pupil out into the world without any measure to ensure the
Having a teenage curfew is ineffective and useless. Many people argue that the curfews are necessary because it will keep young people out of trouble. They also say that teenagers are more likely to get in trouble late than they would during daylight. Teens are looked at as the age group that causes the most trouble, and society targets them when it comes to matter for crime, however many people believe that teens are responsible for a large percentage of crimes and that having a curfew in effect will help lower crime rates. I disagree with this because I don't think teenagers should be forced to follow a ridged time schedule because of a curfew.
