Too many people have been murdered in Miami, and the number of people who have gotten killed has increased during the passing of the years. City-Data.com rated that Miami had a total of "65 murders for every 100000 resident in the year 2002." For every year the murders in Miami have increased drastically, and the murder rates for 2014 went up from "65 to 81 murders for every 100000 resident." Most of this murders were caused by guns, and the worst part was all the small innocent children that had gotten gunned down in Miami-Dade County because of the accessibility of guns, the brutality of gangs, and the irresponsibility of parents.
Guns can be legally bought in both online stores and local stores, so the accessibility of guns is the main

Irresponsible parents, who had left their guns loaded and hidden in a place where their kid could reach, have caused the death of their children or of other local children. Local Ten News on ABC channel reported, "Rahkel was in a parked white Mercedez-Benz in front of her grandfather's house in northwest Miami-Dade. She was with other children on their way to the fair when a 6-year-old boy playing with a loaded gun killed her." Why was there a 6-year-old with a gun? Rahkel's family got scared because of this incident and so did the poor 6-year-old boy who was not at …show more content…
As mention in the Alert Newsletter, "The Juvenile Services Department will seek to identify youth who are at risk of becoming involved in gangs and other criminal activity… young people will be enhanced, and the Gang Resistance Education Training will be reinstituted." The Miami-Dade police department had started to fix this problematic matter of gangs after "the shooting of a six-year-old child… and the killing of a seven-year-old," and bought kids got gunned down in Miami-Dade County in 2015. Unfortunately, people could still "keep and bear arms" because of the second amendment, so the deaths of small children had not stopped completely. It is true that Miami-Dade County compared to other counties or states had not been the most dangerous place for kids, but too many young life have been lost in Miami-Dade County because of
In the story, The Most Dangerous Game, written by Richard Connell, the main character, Rainsford, who is an avid hunter, falls off a yacht and finds himself stranded on a tropical island where he learns what it feels like to be fearful as he fights for his life while trying to avoid being hunted by the antagonist, General Zaroff. In the film, High Noon, written by Carl Foreman, the main antagonist, Frank Miller, is coming back to the town of Hadleyville to seek revenge on the main protagonist, Will Kane, for sending him up to jail; however, Kane is unable to find any deputies or people to help him fight. In the film, High Noon, and the story, The Most Dangerous Game, there is an apparent similarity between the two main characters, as well as
Woods’ novel raises questions about the effects gun violence has on communities, which leads into how it can have negative mental effects on children, and how more laws should be passed for the expansion of
The number of murders every year committed was about 512; some were either homicides or gang related. About 80 percent of the murders committed were done with an illegal firearm. Evidence conducted by Tracey Meares, from Yale, found the high crime areas, committing murders or possessing illegal firearms lived in indigent and isolated communities. Chicago’s Project Safe Neighborhoods developed small community programs to reach out to felons and offenders. Developing small programs for felons and offenders was a way for Law Enforcement to understand their attitude and outlook on gun violence or possessing a gun. For Law Enforcement they wanted to stress the consequences of possessing an illegal firearm and get an ex-offender to share with felons the importance of staying away from a life of crime. There is no other better way to get through to a felon than an ex-felon sharing his own tragic life experiences.
This averages out to 2 murders and 10 shooting every day. Most of the murders were unrelated to any gang and were innocent people. Gun violence is turning to an epidemic, with more people being murdered every year through a barrel.
On the 8th of March 2016 Jamie Gilt, a pro-guns rights activist was shot in the back by her four year old child. She had previously developed an online presence where she claimed that guns were not only safe around children but absolutely necessary for their protection. She argued with commentators on her Facebook page ‘Jamie Gilt for Gun Sense’ that children should be taught to use guns and the day earlier posted “Even my 4 year old gets jacked up to target shoot with the .22”. She had left a loaded and cocked .45 calibre handgun, with the safety off, in the back seat of her truck within reach of her child. Whom promptly picked it up and shot his mother through the back of the seat. The only thing I could find more ‘ironic’ than this is this. Now you’re probably thinking that it is pretty bad that she was shot in the back and left a loaded gun in the back seat next to her son. You’re probably contemplating why she would even leave a gun there in the first place? Especially after pointing out her sons shooting ability not 24 hours earlier. But what if someone was killed? This changes the whole perception of this being ironic. What if her son had killed himself, her or someone out the window? She would be entirely responsible for the shooting. There has been numerous cases of similar accidental shootings in the States where children have shot themselves, others or their parents with lasting consequences. Toddlers are involved in more shootings than terrorists because of
A trend analysis of juvenile homicide offenses shows that since the mid 1970's, the number of homicides in which no firearm was involved has remained fairly constant. However, homicides by juveniles involving a firearm have increased nearly threefold. In addition, during this same period, the number of juvenile arrests for weapons violations increased 117 percent. When guns are the weapon of choice, juvenile violence becomes deadly.
Currently, it is very easy for anyone to get their hands on a gun. If the laws and regulations were made to be stricter, the amount of people who die due to gun violence could potentially and would most likely decrease. If someone needs a gun fast and wants to do something illegal with it, they are not going to wait a long time or want to have to go through a long process. Guns are also rarely used for self defense. Every year there are over thousands of assaults however less than one percent of these cases end up being self defense. Many people want to own a gun to feel safe and for self defense however they end up being used for crimes. Being able to buy things such as fast shooting guns and silencers make it very easy for someone to commit large shootings. If gun control was more strict, these mass shootings could be more easily avoided. A large percentage of suicides in the U.S. are done with guns that are legally bought. If the waiting period and process for
On October 12, 2015, an article was posted about the statistics on how many children are killed from a gun being stored carelessly. In this article, it states that two children are killed a week from guns being stored in an improper setting (“Leave Your Gun Out, Go
Throughout the novel, it is clear that Hester has deep feelings for Dimmesdale. In the beginning of the novel, she refuses to name him as the father of her child, choosing to endure her punishment and alienation from society alone. She spends the next seven years yearning for him. Chapter five even states that Hester stayed in Boston because, “there dwelt, there trode the feet of one with whom she deemed herself connected in a union, that, unrecognized on earth, would bring them together before the bar of final judgment, and make that their marriage-altar, for a join futurity of endless retribution,” (Hawthorne 77). This quote simply states that Hester, while refusing to admit it to herself, chose to stay in New England because Dimmesdale was
On January 17, 2017, “Surge in the Violence” was released by the Crime lab at the University of Chicago, which had combined a report on the statistics of homicides taken place in the year 2015 and 2016. The number of homicides taken place in the year of 2016 has soared by record high of 67 percent than the previous year. Chicago is one of the busiest and advanced cities in the world and getting such high numbers in the field of crime is a shame and leaves a bad impression on the rest of the world. The violence related to guns has also increased enormously and according to “Chicago Tribune”, 2,958 people have been shot dead by now this year. Though the data shows that the homicides by gun has decreased significantly but the number is still a problem. The gun violence now is a serious problem and the current situation demands strict gun laws.
There is a wide assortment of regulations in various states to permit firearms approval. For instance, more than 66% of gun utilized as a part of a crime was in New York City - which is in a

More than 30,000 people are killed by firearms each year in the US. Most of which are caused by handguns. Homicide is the second leading cause of death among 15-24 year-olds. Most reasons for gun violence are caused by video game influence, and issues of mental illnesses. Video games are one of the biggest causes of gun violence because of the majority of in game violence that occurs. Today’s children are more prone to violence due to video games and the violent movies, but then that leads back to the way they were raised. In today’s world, both parents work, there is no family time to teach their children the main differences between right and wrong. When most people don’t know who they are harming, it makes it a lot easier for them to cause harm.
In an article in the Detroit News, Sunday, August 15, 2004 it stated that from January 2004 to August 2004 there were more than 800 people that were shot in Detroit a 70 percent jump in gun violence that experts and police blame on a variety of factors, from upheaval and scarce resources in the police department to high unemployment rates among young males and a hip-hop culture that condones gunfire to solve disputes.
