One statutory sector that helps Daniel with his ADHD is ‘Add-NI’. This organisation helps Daniel by providing one-to-one counselling. Daniel participates in 8 sessions over an 8-week period. During these sessions the counsellor tries to encourage coping methods for Daniel on how to deal with his ADHD and how to control it.

There were a few close ups during the film, that appeared to only focus on the actors or actresses when they were to express some type of action or expression. One close up would have to be when Cesare woke up from his 23-year sleep which was also to appear to be a long shot. Combining the close up with the long shots during the film, created emotions that could be established with the audience. “The help” film is a perfect representation of how the south was and gives an idea on how bad African Americans were treated even if they were being paid and not only that but it also shows how different everything was back then. For example, as shown in the movie the women back then were quite different from today. Skeeter the main character is described as a very independent woman compared to the rest of the white female characters. She doesn’t seem to have an interest in men now but considers finding a dependable job unlike the other white females. Skeeter was also an educated woman and even had a bachelor’s degree. Back in that specific time frame this was rather odd for a lady to be educated. Skeeter tries to advocate for the events that are occurring within southern homes by writing the experiences of the Jackson, Mississippi’s black maids. Meanwhile, the film shows southern culture in great detail.

For this part of the assignment I am using examples from a 50 minute session recorded within the learning environment. I play the role of the counsellor, and another student plays the role of the client. In order for me to answer the learning outcomes, I have watched the DVD recording.

The decision to take this course was rooted in a deepening interest in psychotherapy, self–development, the welfare of other people and in a desire to gain a theoretical base to enrich my current arts and health practice.

Cognitive-behavioural therapy is widely short-term and concentrates on enabling clients to deal with very particular problems. Often six weeks to six months sessions of course depending upon the problem it is pacifically goal directed and places great weight upon self-help as a long term coping tool that the client can take away with them and successfully use. Cognitive-behavioural therapy believes that clients can learn the wrong ways of developing and making sense of information during their cognitive development. This can often lead to distortions in the way they identify reality, it’s the job of the therapist to enable them to work this out.

D-The patient arrived on time for his counseling session. Reported stable thus far and he recently accepted a dose increase. According to the patient, he tends to feel the withdrawals-difficulties sleeping and yawning. Denies any recent relapse, at which this writer provided a positive feedback. The patient is confident that his UDS result will be negative for this month and moving forward, if not, the patient will be referred to the clinic's self-help group, mainly the cocaine group.

There are several different Psychological themes throughout the movie “The Help”. In this paper I will be discussing 3 of which I feel are very important. My intentions throughout this paper is to make everyone aware of not only the Discrimination shown in the movie but also the way that Peer Pressure, and perspective ties into making this a powerful movie. Hopefully I can use this paper to make others aware of the hardship and oppression that not only African Americans went through but all African American Women especially. This movie shows how racism is not inherited but simply passed down from generation to generation.

This essay is an evaluation of two counselling models applied to a situation where a client has experienced loss and how a counsellor can create a therapeutic relationship with the client using each counselling model. It will also contain other skills a counsellor could use to obtain/maintain a good therapeutic relationship with the client.

The movie, The Help, is based on the book written by Kathryn Stockett. It was released in 2011 and directed by Tate Taylor (Taylor, 2017). The Help is set in Jackson, Mississippi in the 1960’s, and it is about the experiences black women had as maids for white families. These women decided to risk it all and tell their stories in an effort to show what is was really like for them (Taylor, 2011). The Help illustrates how these women fought racism and prejudice by becoming unified with one another. This paper will address how prejudice, discrimination, stereotyping, and inequality affect the characters and their relationships in the story.

The director uses multiple camera shots to highlight the love during troublesome times and the emotions that are present. A wide shot is used when the audience watches Guido marching in front of the soldier shortly before his death. Guido does this as he is aware that his son is watching and still wants the experience of the camp to be a fun game and does not want Giosue to be afraid of what is happening. Close up shots are commonly used throughout the film to give more detail into the emotions that the characters are feeling. A

One particular scene uses close up to effectively show the emotions displayed on Mani and Lola’s face. Mani portraying fear and anguish while Lola has a face of stress and her body language gives of the feel of her feeling responsible. This scene takes places as the start of the film and gives the story of the plot and an opening to the story. Close ups are used to get the audience's empathy or connection to the character. It gives a clear view of the emotions that are being depicted by both Lola and Mani.

Counselling sessions can help us work through a range of personal issues from everyday hardships to potentially life threatening situations. In this reflective essay I propose to put theory to practice by analysing and reflecting upon a one hour session with a professional counsellor. The session is to be recorded so I can refer to particular instances during the session.

“Therapeutic building blocks” (Young, 2001, p. 30) is a phrase used to describe the helping relationship and the components of that counseling relationship. The ability to facilitate the client into relaying their story is the basis of therapy for change. I have listed my therapeutic helping skills below, and have described an example of each.
