ISTPs and virtuoso’s also have interesting career paths. “ISTPs thrive on diversity and unpredictability, on wondering “what’s next?” every morning.” My personality type are born as problem solvers and have easy solutions to everyday problems. Virtuoso's like career paths with freedom where they can make their own responsibilities and their own schedules. One sought after career for ISTP is a forest ranger where they have traditional work.
My top three interests were social, enterprising, and artistic. I was not surprised by my top two results because I am an outgoing, persuasive individual, but the artistic result did surprise me. However, as I read about it, I realized that I did enjoy integrating creativity in my work and being given some flexibility to complete assignments without a clear cut set of rules. The results also gave me some career suggestions. A genetic psychologist and a counseling psychologist both came up as results which was encouraging because it meant I was well suited to these careers. These two careers also both had bright job outlooks, and they both required a graduate degree. The prospective salaries were comparable, and they required similar
After several semesters being surrounded by smart, ambitious Business School students, I've noticed that there are striking differences in the ways people define an exceptional career. And the way people define success can have a big impact, not only on decisions about their first jobs, but also how much they achieve and happy they are in their careers.
The career, Speech Therapist, stood out to me because of the concept of helping someone overcome an issue that they may have had all of their life. By helping a person develop a common skill, you could be changing their life in a positive way. To actually hear the progress you have made through the person’s own mouth is something that would make you feel like you have a purpose and that is to help people make their lives better. The occupation of this career is to basically help people that either have a speech impediment or some type of disorder to communicate better and cope with social malfunctions they may have experienced in their life and will experience in the mere future. So
My career clusters was performing arts and I chose the career named, Music Director/Composer. Directors lead orchestras, choirs, groups, and bands while composers make music or arrange other piece in a variety of music styles. Directors ensure that the musicians play with one concert sound, balancing the melody, tuning, rhythm, and dynamic. They give feedback to the musicians or section leaders so that they can achieve the sound and style they want in the music. The work environment for directors work in religious organizations, and schools with music programs. They also spend a lot of time traveling around to and places. Composers work in offices, recording studios, or their own home. Similar occupations of this career are actors, dancer and choreographers, high, middle, and elementary school teachers, musicians and singers, producers and directors, and writers and authors. The job outlook is growing by 3% which is
Introduction: The following report sheds light on one specific career option that a group of three scholars chose and shows how their personality traits as well as their interests and employment backgrounds make them either the most qualified or the least qualified for the job position. Barbie dolls are trying to improve their race representation by creating more diverse Barbies so that little girls of different ethnicities don’t feel left out. According to Kristina Milnor, “between 1993 and 1997 the American toy company Mattel produced the “Great Eras Collection,” a series of Barbie dolls dressed to represent historical moments ranging from Eighteenth-Dynasty pharaonic Egypt through 1920s America” (215). Mattel released ten different Barbies in the Great Eras Collection in hopes of having a more diverse line, along with Mattel’s trademark Barbie. The ten different Barbies come from different historical periods that have different skin colors and have different clothing to represent racial diversity. In hopes of trying to boost little girls of color self-esteem, Mattel tried to make the line as diverse as possible, but there is a problem. According to Milnor, “here are ten dolls in all, beginning (since they appeared out of chronological order) with Gibson Girl Barbie, proceeding to Flapper Barbie, Egyptian Queen Barbie, Southern Belle Barbie, Medieval Lady Barbie, Elizabethan Queen Barbie, Grecian Goddess Barbie, Victorian Lady Barbie, French Lady Barbie, and finally Chinese Empress Barbie,” which are all considered high class status (215). This is a problem because it does not reflect all little girls. There is race representation in this line but having all the dolls portrayed as high social class does not represent most of the little girls playing with

The first section of the Self-Directed search is “occupational daydreams” which allows the client to compare their ideal careers to their career results at the end of the assessment (Holland, 1994). Stewart indicated that he would want to pursue a career as an Underwriter, Insurance Broker, Lawyer, Marine Biologist, Reporter, Social Worker, and a Counselor. Stewarts total scores are as follows: 26 for realistic, 15 for investigative, 46 for artistic, 36 for social, 48 for enterprising, and 28 for conventional (Holland, 1994). This means that his vocational code is enterprising, artistic, and social (EAS). This score suggests that Stewart has high interests, self-esteems, and competencies in enterprising, artistic, and social careers. He chose as his possible career choices: Public Relations Representative, Broker-and-Market Operator, Council on Aging Director, and Housing Project Manager (Holland, 1994). Based off of Stewarts similar codes (ESA, SEA, AES, ASE, and SAE) he chose as possible career choices: Psychiatric Social Worker, Research Director, Stage Director, Television Director, Actor, Critic, Playwright, Drama Teacher, Social Welfare Administrator, and Director of Admissions (Holland, 1994). After compiling multiple career options, Stewart was able to use the “You and Your Career” booklet in order to gain an understanding
As I contemplate what profession I am going to fully enter into as an alternative I have noticed how attention to details and being able to multi task are requirements for most job postings. I did notice from the personality profile that I do not have very many interests in the arts, such as writing music or short
Interpersonal people have high emotional intelligence which fits in with my role as a Tenancy Support Officer. It is a good fit with job roles that involve counselling, support, advice, holistic services. Psychologists, doctors, healers, carers and coaches are other examples of
Myers and Briggs created a personality test that not only will help people to figure out their personality types, but at the same time it aids in the discovery of which career pathways people should take based on their specific personality traits. Based on the personality trait INFP that was given to me from the Myer-Briggs test I have quite a few career pathways that fit my personality. Some of the career choices suited to my personality is a writer, counselor, teacher/professor, psychologist, psychiatrist, musician, or a religious worker; which seems like a pretty broad selection. Although there is a broad selection of careers that would suit my personality none of which are the career path that I have chosen; which is to become a physical therapist, but if I was not set on a goal some of these career ideas would not seem too bad. While reading the list of jobs suited for my personality I was surprised to see that psychologist was on the list because before I decided to go for physical therapy I wanted to pursue a career in that exact field. As for most of the other fields mentioned above I
What is Freedom of speech? Well, the definition for freedom of speech is the ability to speak freely without being subject to censorship or without fear of retaliation from a governing body. There are at least two documents, the US Constitution and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, that acknowledge that free speech is an unalienable right and protect it for all. There is another form of speech that may or may not be protected, depending on the circumstances, under the same documents and that is hate speech. Some of the limitations that are put in place by Government, employers, and educational facilities are a
There comes a time in life where individuals have to leave school to join the world of work whereby they will work their way up to the top. This is where career development comes into place. Career development is defined as progress through various stages in a career (Schreuder & Coetzee,2011). These are stages one goes through in order to mature in a career and for development to even exist, one has to start with making a career choice then developing it .A career choice can be defined as the relation between people’s personality types and their different occupational environment in which they work in.
I found that it was interesting that most career paths among the logistician personality type include those with respected tradition, authority, security, and established consistency. Common careers consist of military officers, lawyers, judges, and police officers. This was
