There are many ways to write a story, but only one way for each individual. Ever since I started school, English was my hardest subject. Math, art, and language class came easy to me, while I struggled in English. I have many weaknesses as a writer and not many strengths. However, the way I approach the writing task may have something to do with the fact that writing is not one of my strongest points.
I do not like to write essay’s or research papers, but when my teacher assigns a paper, I have a specific method to write it. Let’s say for example the topic is pollution. I first think what I know about pollution, such as, CO2, littering, plastic in the ocean, etc. Then, I research those topics and write down information about them. I use each

When given an essay, my classmates usually finish their papers in an hour or less, while it takes me three or more hours to do the same task. I would call myself a researcher because I don’t start writing until I know all the facts about the topic I am writing about. This gives me a disadvantage to other writers who write on the spot when given a topic. My mind does not roam the same as them. I am all about the facts and it is hard for me to be creative. Even though I have all these weaknesses, I do have some strengths as a writer. I always make sure to spell everything correctly and make sure my paper is in the correct format. I think I have these strengths because I consider myself good at math, and in math, you have to follow formulas the correct way to get an answer. This correlates with writing because you have to follow a specific format to write a paper.
I hope that by the end of the semester I am able to write a paper in under an hour. This is going to be difficult for me to do because I need to open up the creative side of my mind, which is pretty small. However, business writing is about being concise and does not require the creative side of your brain. If you are writing a letter to another business, they won’t have time to look up big words they don’t know, and they don’t care if you jibber jabber about random things. All businesses care about are the
Writing is always a struggle. You have to analyze texts, search for sources, write multiple rough drafts, check for spelling and grammar issues, cite your sources, and support your statements with facts. The list goes even longer, but this is just enough to make anybody stressed. Everyone can relate to the struggles of writing, and personally, I have fallen victim to many of these struggles. However, even though writing is very difficult, you can gain experience on how to write successfully.
How can I become a better writer? Throughout my writing experiences, I have learned I have many weaknesses along with strengths. My experiences with writing has not always been the best, but over time, with lots of practice and instructions from my instructors, I can proudly say that I have gained a better understanding on the layout of essays and papers. As well as understanding how to write correctly my goal as a writer is to learn how to overcome my weaknesses and use my strengths to my highest ability. I have many strengths, weaknesses and goals that I plan to achieve and overcome in my college career.
To be honest, I have never really enjoyed writing that much. Even though I don't enjoy the activity, years of english classes have made it easier and more bearable for me. In addition these classes have taught me numerous techniques and tips for crafting a fine paper. Even though I have a few good qualities that make me a decent writer, I believe that my greatest one is my ability to plan and structure essays. When I write a larger paper I start with an outline that plans out my introduction, main points, sub-points, and conclusion. This outline helps me organize my thoughts, so when it comes to writing my actual essay the process is faster and my ideas are coherent and easier to understand. Outlining my papers before I write
The art of writing is a complex and difficult process. Proper writing requires careful planning, revision, and proofreading. Throughout the past semester, the quality of my writing has evolved significantly. At first, I struggled with the separation of different types of paragraphs, and I found writing them laborious. Constant practice, however, has eliminated many of my original difficulties, and helped to inspire confidence in my skills. As a collegiate writer, my strength lies in my clear understanding of the fundamentals of writing, while my primary weakness is proofreading my own work.
Finding your own writing process is crucial for a writer in order to write a successful paper. Everyone is unique and everyone’s writing process is going to be unique as well. A writer’s notebook is a perfect way for people to record random thoughts, dialogue you hear, and any other ideas you might hear. Brainstorming is a key technique to get started when composing a paper. Brainstorming allows you to think of different topics that would fulfill the requirements needed on your topic assigned. Freewriting, clustering, listing and outlining, and collaborating are also some other techniques that when practiced could come very useful when writing a paper. Having the ability to use either of these five techniques would help tremendously when composing a paper.
The best way to get better at something is to practice and have peers critique your style and fundamentals. As a student, I have my professor and my fellow peers to proofread and critique my writing. With these corrections I have learned I have many new strengths and weaknesses in my writing since before I started school at COTC. I have also been given many different types of resources to help improve my writing.
Along with disadvantages of my writing also come the advantages which make me a half way decent writer in my perspective. In writing papers I include many interesting facts about the topic that I am writing on. This skill of being able to research topics good is something that I think is one of my major strengths because of the ability to take the time and patience to weed through tons of material. I am able to take this research that I find and incorporate it into my papers in a fair enough manner that makes my papers have way decent. Another strength that I posses is my
This argument is clearly valid; the conclusion follows necessarily from the premises. Spinoza justifies all of these premises. Premise 1 is true because according to Spinoza an attribute is that “which the intellect perceives as constituting the essence of substance”. Following this definition it’s clear that there cannot be two or more substances with the same attribute as sharing an attribute would mean sharing an essence. If two substances share the same nature or essence then they cannot be distinguished in anyway.
A stronger writer will always know when they have done their absolute best. A lot of people often ask themselves of other people “Am I a strong writer?” In all honesty, I personally do not think that I am a stronger writer. I think that because I don’t like the to write. If I don’t like something I don’t put my time and effort into it. Though I do enjoy writing in my journal. Now when it comes to writing papers for school I have a hard time and don’t usually enjoy it. Most of the papers students are assigned are based on someone else’s writing and you have to summarize it and give your opinions and thoughts on it or what would you do if you were in that type of situation. I don’t find any pleasure in writing those types of papers.
I have some strengths and weaknesses in my writing structure. Overall, my writing is quite strong, I scored 8/10 on my PELA and I do not need to complete the SUCCESS program. However the PELA was under different circumstances to how I would normally complete an assessment. When writing an essay I would usually have more time to read, proofread and reflect on my work before submission. Nevertheless, I am still proud of the standard of work in which I have produced in this circumstance.
As a writer, I feel that my weakness is struggling with time management and trying to get my best draft as my first draft. I have always struggled with trying to put forth the best draft on the first one and just making little adjustments and then turning the paper in. Another weakness I have is to over complicate my writing and over think submitting the final draft. Every single essay that I have had to write throughout this semester I have struggled with these problems. Particularly the research paper, since the paper was worth such a big percentage of the grade in the class. I was extremely self-conscious about submitting and writing the paper. I took a long time just to finish a rough draft. I reviewed the final draft for hours before submitting the paper. I also experienced the problem of being extremely self-conscious after I submitted the paper and question everything I choose to write on.
Noted American author H. Jackson Brown, Jr. once said, "The best preparation for tomorrow is doing your best today." I like this quote because I have been learning to do my best every day so that I will be able to do even better tomorrow. This semester I have improved my reading and writing skills, become a better student, learned effective strategies, and pondered my goals.
After having done three essays, I have learned a lot about my writing weaknesses and strengths. Most importantly, my strengths have been improving and little by little becoming talents. I have realized that being consistent and fair with every point of view I analyze is a good quality for academic writing. However, sometimes it is necessary to be neutral to get an accurate essay.
Writing is not just as simple as putting words down on a document or a piece of paper, it is a process. Within this intricate process are steps that involve more than just writing, such as critical thinking, planning, and editing. Using these steps has not only helped me when planning an essay but also when composing one. Throughout this course, I have managed to improve many skills and gain a lot of strengths, but I still possess some weaknesses. Overall, I believe my strengths have definitely outgrown these weaknesses and have led to a better, more high-quality writing process which leads to improved essays.
Writing has always been something I dread. It’s weird because I love talking and telling stories, but the moment I have to write it all down on paper, I become frantic. It’s almost as if a horse race just begun in my mind, with hundreds of horses, or words, running through my mind, unable to place them in chronological order. Because I struggle to form satisfying sentence structure, it takes me hours, sometimes even days, to write one paper. It’s not that I think I’m a “bad writer,” I just get discouraged easily. Needless to say, I don’t think highly of my writing skills. When I was little I loved to both read and write. I read just about any book I could get my hands on, and my journal was my go to for my daily adventures. Although it’s
