Manifesto of the Communist Party
There is a threat haunting Europe- a threat on communism. All of the powerful countries in Europe have created an alliance to fight communism. The Pope and Tsar, the Metternich and Guizot, and the French Radicals and German police-spies have all turned against communism.
Is there a group that has not been condemned as communist by the powerful countries? Is there opposition that has not been thrown back by the criticism of communism, against the more powerful and advanced opposition, as well as its counter revolutionary opponents?
Two things result from this fact:
Communism is already known by all European countries to be a power itself.
It is now time that Communists should openly present their views and their goals. Now Communists should meet the enemies against communism with their own declaration.
Communists of different nationalities have now gathered in London and drafted the following declaration, to be published in different languages, such as English, French, German, Italian, Flemish, and Danish.
I. Bourgeois and Proletarians
The history of all previously existing culture is the history of problems with social class.
Free people and slaves, patrician and plebeian, lord and serf, the guild-master and journeyman, and the oppressor and oppressed were always against each other, and this was an uninterrupted fight that eventually ended, either by a revolution from a large group of people, or in the fall of the classes.
In earlier times
There is cold air during the time of the Cold War where superior countries were hostile to those behind the Iron Curtain. There were constant threats from opposing adversaries but the biggest concern was from within. Senator Joseph McCarthy gave a speech in Wheeling, West Virginia in early 1950 stating that the atheistic communist countries were going to immortalize the rest of the world. McCarthy goes on to say that Karl Marx, a communist philosopher, influenced Lenin and Stalin, Soviet Union leaders, to make a communist country and to hinder citizens from talking freely about love, justice, humanity or morality. According to McCarthy communism is taking of the world eight to five against Democracy. Democracies
The date is August 29th, 1949. The war which plunged the world into chaos is now four years passed. But, a new problem has risen in the west. The Soviet Union has successfully tested its first atomic weapon, and it doesn’t take long before American U-2 planes, flying overhead, spot its destruction. A year later, Mao Zedong’s communist party prevails in the Chinese civil war. Then, before two mere months pass, Communist North Korea, backed by the Soviets, invade South Korea officially starting the Korean War. These problems involving communism are not the first of their kind, and certainly won’t be the last. For a stretch of around ten years, the threat of communism infiltrating Americas “perfect” democracy is very real, plunging the public deeper into the already present mass hysteria known to all as The Red Scare. This mass hysteria suffered over the idea of communism infiltrating the United States government affected the country both politically and socially and still affects the country politically to this day.
In the 1950s, McCarthyism became an epidemic of false accusation towards others in regards to Communism. “Joe McCarthy … thoroughly infiltrated ... Communists … managed to plunge the country into a cesspool of paranoia and fascism… Thousands of people … lost their jobs because they either wouldn’t sign “loyalty oaths,” or because they wouldn’t “inform” on their friends and neighbors, or because someone saw them actually reading a book” (Steinski). A communist government is one where all citizens, no matter what job, are all paid the same amount and
There is not a single country in this hemisphere which has not been penetrated by the apparatus of International Communism … The Communist conspiracy is not to be taken lightly. It’s agents operate under the iron discipline of the Soviet Communist Party acting as the self-proclaimed “General Staff of the World Proletariat.” The agents themselves, in order to gain a following pretend to be reformists seeking to eradicate the evils which exist in any society.
Communism played a major role shaping the 20th century, both for the East and the United States. Its impact can be seen in the US from 1919 to the 1990s and even today. The spread of Communist ideals in the East meant the beginning of the socialist state and mass industrialization. Its effect on the US was much different. The United States people, heavily diversified of all races, religions, and financial statuses, became extremely jingoistic as a result of competition with the USSR. This nationalism became unhealthy as citizens began determining what was “un-American.” The Communist Party USA was not successful in their primary objective of spreading communism to the US. What they did achieve however was hugely important. They showed that citizens of the United States could be scared out of their own freedom. That fear would lead them to give up “liberty and justice for all”. Still a highly misunderstood idea, it is important for citizens of the United States to understand what communism is and what impact the CPUSA and other communist organizations had on the country.
The Communist Manifesto was written by two world renowned philosophers, Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels. This book was produced in an era of great suffering and anguish of all workers in a socially distressed system. In a time when revolutions were spreading through Europe like wildfire, Marx organized his thoughts and views to produce the critical pamphlet “The Communist Manifesto”. Marx’s scrutiny illustrates his belief that unless change is to occur the constant outcome will repeatedly remain uniform. This is a novel that displays the differentiation between the Bourgeois and the Proletariat. Class relationships are defined by an era's means of production. Marx’s
The use of propaganda in wartime was not a common thing, but when it came to resources it did. Societies have used and lived with propaganda from the earliest civilizations like Ancient Greece. World War I marked a turning point for state use of propaganda both in war and during peace. One reason was That World War I was the first “Total War.” In the US many Americans were towards the use of propaganda because they needed supplies and men. So propaganda persuaded the audience with ethos or their emotions just so people can get or do what they want.
Communism has resulted in a poor quality of life, poor economy, and oppression of its people. In order to retain power, communist countries have needed to remove civil dissent and would result in imprisonment or murder of its citizens (Williams). In fact, more than sixty five million people were murdered by the USSR, nearly thirty five million were murdered by Communist China, and a number of Southeast Asian and Eastern European countries account for ninety seven million murders (Williams). The U.S which was founded on capitalism and free markets, protection of private property, and protection of individual rights has developed policies to oppose the spread of worldwide communism (Hughes). Consequently, the U.S has engaged directly in military
The Communist Manifesto, originally drafted as, “Manifesto of the Communist Party”, is a pamphlet written by Karl Marx, that in essence reflects an attempt to explain the goals and objectives of Communism, while also explaining the concrete theories about the nature of society in relation to the political ideology. The Communist Manifesto breaks down the relationship of socio-economic classes and specifically identifies the friction between those classes. Karl Marx essentially presents a well analyzed understanding of class struggles and the issues concerning capitalism, the means and modes of production and how those means affect the classes as a whole.
Communism is a system of social organisation which formerly consumed almost a third of countries in the entire world, having originated in Russia. The first official communist state was founded during the Russian revolutions in 1917, due to the inaugural communist political party ‘Bolsheviks’ gaining primal power. Afterwards, the influence of communism spread to other countries with the likes of Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia and East Germany to name a few. These countries that were governed on communist principles were known as the ‘Eastern Bloc’. Even countries in Asia were persuaded into the theoretically human equality system such as China, Laos and Vietnam. Communism was gathering strength to strength every year in the mid 20th century, but eventually its impact was wiped off in the late 20th century when the Berlin War was knocked down in 1989, ending the barrier between the Eastern and Western blocs. Communism arguably was the most influential social experiment in history, but also the most flawed and its failure to change the world permanently will always remain significant in history.
Drafted in 1848 by Karl Marx and Frederick Engels, the “Manifesto of the Communist Party” outlines the views, tendencies, and aims of the communist party through the so-called philosophy of historical materialism (Distante). These views were expressed throughout four distinct sections of the “Manifesto of the Communist Party.” The first section describes the relationship between the bourgeois and the proletarians. The next section depicts the relationship between the proletarians and the communists. The third section of the document presents socialist and communist literature. The “Manifesto…” is ended with a section stating the position of the communists in relation to opposition
Communism was based more on society and the state and the cooperation thereof. All of that being said, I believe terrorism is the new enemy. Which is something America has been looking for ever since the end of the cold war. At first it was racism and those who sexually harass, then it was the kids who shot up schools and now its terrorism.
One fear that has plagued our world since 1848 is the political ideology of communism. Ever since the publication of the Communist Manifesto by Karl Marx, communism has been the fear of many world leaders as they have watched great countries fall into the hands of revolutionist. Yet, some fail to realize is how easily some revolutions compare to others and how some do not. Although the revolutions discussed in the lecture did not seem to relate to each other, the similarities and differences are striking.
The Communist Manifesto is a political pamphlet outlining the primary principles and goals of communism along with a comprehensive critique of capitalism. Primary to their argument is the proposition that class struggles and exploitation ultimately fuel
China has been a communist country since the communist revolution took place in 1949, since then China has been ruled by the dictator Mao Tse-Tung. However the Chinese dictator died in September 1976, he was hailed abroad as one of the worlds’ great leaders. Certainly one of the more impressive aspects of the Chinese communist government, has been the willingness of the people to protest against it (3, pg. 4).
