Introduction
Communication is defined as the imparting or interchange of thoughts, opinions, or information by speech, writing, or signs. One study states that 93% of communication is more affected by body language, attitude, and tone, leaving only 7% of the meaning and intent based on the actual words (Hughes, 2008). Communication is not just a verbal form; when the practice managers are facing difficulties communicating with physicians, they consider nonverbal communication. To avoid confrontation, critical information can be transmitted via handwritten notes, e-mails, or text messages.

Effective communication skills are essential to creating credibility to implement ideas. There are numerous employees all working toward a common goal in the healthcare setting. To achieve this goal, everyone must work together to figure out how to accomplish it. Nurses, physicians, clerks, receptionists and managers all rely on each other’s communication to complete tasks. Some recurring themes are differences of values and culture, learning from each other, and managers and leaders as interpreters. Every individual has a different perspective on the way they carry out tasks. This can also occur between physicians and managers or leaders. Physicians deal with patients on a more personal level and being “more interested in the wellbeing of individual patients” while managers deal with them and “administer resources on a corporate level” (Poddar, 2013, p. 194). Differing in views can lead to a “negative impact on the quality of services” (Poddar, 2013, p. 194). Both parties know the goals that they need to meet each day and one common goal is “delivery of care” even though their “thinking and priorities are different” (Poddar, 2013, p. 194).
