I Leslie Garrera would like use this portfolio as an opportunity to have the two English courses at Marywood fulfilled. After high school, I received my associates degree for medical assisting and graduated cum laude in which I took COM 1101 Interpersonal communications, ENG 1101 English Composition l, and SOC 1101 Information Literacy. These courses provided me with a high level of language skills. I also took American sport history my first semester at Marywood which included a fifteen-page research paper that I received a high grade on. I bring this to your attention as I was the only freshmen in the class all others were juniors or seniors and I was able to achieve an outstanding grade as they did after taking both English classes. I

Ognjen Svilicic's films a powerful naturalistic drama about bus driver Ivo (Emir Hadžihafizbegović) who lives with his wife Maja (Jasna Žalica). His mother becomes concerned about him, he is not eating or talking to them. Finally he emerges and his parents see that he has been badly beaten. His mother who is very worried tells Ivo to take him to the hospital. An unconcerned father takes him to the hospital and the doctor finds nothing wrong with him. The next day, they find their son on the bathroom floor. Through all of this, Ivo showed no emotion, it was like he was just going through the motions of life.
In this portfolio it will show a range of work that was completed in English 111. You will find a table of contents so you can locate each piece of work easily. There will be a sample of a writing from my religion class that I have previously taken. This writing is a research paper. The reason I chose this sample of writing is because research papers is not one of my strongest papers that I can complete but, this was an easier research paper because of the topic that it was on and I could use any source I wanted to as long as it was not Wikipedia. Also, you will find samples of each writing assignment that was completed in this course: Narration Essay, Comparison/Contrast Essay, and Argumentative Research Essay, along with some revisions
Please accept this letter of reference for Sabrina Valenti, as an applicant into your advance standing MSW program. I have known Sabrina in my role as faculty advisor and instructor for her field I and Field II practice courses at University of Saint Joseph (USJ). Sabrina performed well in her studies and I believe since she has been working for the past 2 years as a Human Service Worker, she is more than ready to take on the challenges of graduate school.
When I was 14 years old, I went into high school already struggling. I was caught sneaking out of my house when I was in seventh grade and had been accused of everything from drinking to doing drugs. I was the oldest of four girls and the pressure to be a role model was suffocating and I didn’t do well. No one trusted me.
When I originally was registering my class choices for the Fall 2016 semester, I considered English 111 to be an undemanding course that I could pass without a lot of effort on my behalf. I had no trouble passing prior English courses, years ago, so I felt this course would be similar. What I had not anticipated was how much I honestly could learn, such as: how you should properly cite sources, how you should suitably prove your thesis and how you can accurately set up the flow of a paper. Although, the most informative part of English 111, for me, has been absorbing all the information on the different styles of papers that can be written. I believe that recognizing the usefulness of distinctive varieties of papers will help me throughout
As I am entering into the final semester of my MLS studies I have the desire to gain more working knowledge of various library types and their practices. I would like to secure a practicum that will enable me the opportunity to gain practical hands on experience in a special library. Though this experience is not required for completion of my MLS degree I feel that the knowledge gained from this practicum placement will be invaluable. It will help create a more well-rounded and versatile professional base to draw from as I continue in the library profession.
First Year Seminar is a beneficial, getting started-like course provided by West Coast University during the first term of the program. Since the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program is very rigorous this course is helpful in adjusting new students, such as myself, to a very demanding, fast-pace program. This class focuses on topics that help students organize and understand oneself and the mission of WCU mission to achieve the greatest success as a student. In my Signature Assignment term paper I will focus on my experience with FYS and what information I’ve gained to help me understand my learning style, strengths and weaknesses I have as a student, how working collaboratively benefits me and how I will go about achieving success at WCU.
Having taken a combination of English and writing all through my high school career I have come to know myself as a writer, I was able to learn a vast majority of my capabilities and weaknesses. After thoroughly reading the description of all of the writing courses offered at Salem State University I have came to the decision that the writing course that best meets my needs is ENL 110.
Based on my past experiences, I have learned that making decisions, especially big important ones, such as getting married, making a job or career change, deciding which church to attend, and even deciding where to spend my holidays, are best made with sure guidance from the Holy Spirit, the scripture, Godly counsel, and prayer, or else I could be in for major disappointment and setbacks. I have also come to learn that even if all the factors are present and point to “yes” (i.e. the scripture approves, and my spiritual advisors approve), if I do not have the inner peace of the Holy Spirit, it likely means that I should not move forward with that decision. It could be that although the logic all around me makes the decision seem safe, there are factors that I cannot see that God can see which make it the wrong decision, since He sees further into the future than we do, and He is all-knowing. This can also work in the reverse. Everything I see may make me want to go in a different direction, even the advice of my spiritual advisors, but the Holy Spirit and the scripture may say walk by faith, not by sight, in the direction that does not seem as likely to be right (2 Corinthians 5:7). Most of all, what I have learned from past experiences, is that even with all the careful precaution I take to make the right choice, I will inevitably make the wrong choices sometimes in life, and God is aware, and has made a way that even my wrong choices can still help put me in the place to
Every fourth-year teacher trainees will have to conduct practicum and will work under the guideline of their associate teachers and supervisors. The purpose of doing the practicum are to put training into practice, to become accustomed to teaching in the tertiary school settings, and to develop and expand each trainee’s teaching expertise and confidence. In the following paragraph, I will express what I have learnt from doing practicum to reflect on my past teaching strengths and weaknesses from the teaching practicum.
Since I have been doing the weekly reflections in my Reading Methods class, I have truly learned information that will be beneficial to me in the near future. So it is safe to say that I have truly grown in my reflections. For example, when I first did a reflection for this class, I did not really know what all to include in it, even though my teacher gave the directions. Once I went to visit her, she did a really good job of explaining it to me. So I just limited my self to only including the information that she required in it. Then the second week came around and I remembered everything that I had done the week before. So when it was time to do the reflection for week two, I included everything she wanted and also reflected on what I thought
Upon asking my Grammy to be my interviewee for this final project, I was relatively apprehensive- questioning if I have ever even said the word sex in front of her. A few hours after Thanksgiving lunch, I tried to bite the bullet as casually as possible, “by the way, Grammy, could I interview you for one of my history classes, I have to write a paper on a conversation?” “Sure”, she replied, “about what?” “It’s actually supposed to be your opinion about the Sexual Revolution and your experiences in it, it’s no big deal”, I quickly added. “Sure honey, I don’t know how helpful I’ll be though, I must have slept through that,” she wittily answered.
Imagine living in a country, where the average life expectancy for men and women in the year 2017 is 49 years old. Imagine living in a country where electricity is one of the hardest things to obtain. Imagine living in a country with over 60% of the country’s population living below the poverty line. Imagine living in a country that has suffered greatly through civil wars, epidemics, and environmental climate disasters. Just imagine being from a country that is rich in the world’s most precious minerals but still classified as a third world country. What country is that you ask? Its Sierra Leone of course, named the 11th poorest country in the world located in West Africa. A country who has been going through economic, political, and social challenges for over two decades now.
My grandparents still live in the house built by my grandfather in a farming village in the outskirts of Lianyuan in central China. To this day, my grandma still carries home two large buckets of well water balanced by a beam across her back. My impression of my grandparents was that of stoic figures able to tolerate significant physical hardships. During my most recent trip to the village, my grandmother revealed that my grandfather had been struggling with extreme itching all over his body. Based on their geographical location, access to health care was poor and my grandfather compensated with folk remedies that were of little efficacy. Additionally, grandfather was severely restricting his food intake out of fear that certain foods would worsen the itching. At that time, I just completed my first year of medical school. I had just learned about pruritis and the histamine cascade. Was it an allergic reaction, or was it something more insidous, such as kidney failure? I had a few Benedryl pills in my backpack and I gave the instruction to my grandfather to take as needed for symptomatic relief. I was not sure if it will work and made a note to look more into it once I arrive in Canada. After a few days of leaving Lianyuan, I received a call from my grandparents that for the first time in two years, my grandfather finally had relief from his itching and was able to tolerate the foods he had previously enjoyed.
