Taking a look at the Columbine high school shooting and the Virginia Tech University shooting, they followed different and similar situations. When these events occurred they both reached the record of worst mass shootings in U.S. history. On April 20, 1999, the Columbine shooting occurred early morning in which most of the students had already filled the school. The columbine shooters intentions to murder the students at the school were pre-meditated and were determined to destroy as much lives as possible. As for the Virginia tech shooting, it occurred 4 days before the 8th anniversary of the columbine shooting in which the shooter also referenced the two columbine shooters, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold. As the events developed throughout the morning, they both conquered one goal, fear amongst all students and faculty. On the morning of April 20, 1999 Eric and Dylan took the lives of 13 innocent people, 12 students and 1 teacher and needless to say wounded dozens. Their plans began just a year before the massacre and it possibly could have been prevented. The duo had gotten arrested the previous year due to them stealing electronics from a van. Throughout the year they recorded all of their plans in videos, journals and established signs in their school work. In these videos they also included an apology to their parents for the pain they were going to bring. As their time came to unravel their raged expressions, they purchased guns and ammo and created homemade bombs to
The Columbine school shooting happened at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado on April 21, 1999. Two students, Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris, went into their school with guns and explosives with the intentions of killing as many people as possible. The two students killed twelve students, one teacher, and injured many more students before each of the shooters committed suicide (Curtis 3). If a teacher was given the right training and carrying a firearm, they could have stopped Klebold and Harris sooner and less students would have been wounded and murdered.

On April 20, 1999, the unimaginable occurred at Columbine High School in the small town of Littleton, Colorado. With 15 deaths, including the perpetrators, and 24 non-fatal injuries, the memories of this horrific massacre will forever resonate in minds of all. With a meticulously, thought out plan, the two shooters prepared guns and bombs before performing the sickening act. Families, the FBI, local officials, psychologists,
Eric and Dylan had just fired their guns at Rachel Scott and Richard Castaldo. Eric was the first person to kill one of the students who was Rachel Scott. Sources say that Eric had asked Rachel if she believed in god and when she said yes he told her “then go be with him” and shot her in the head. Eric and Dylan made there way to the cafeteria where they had injured some students, soon later they headed to the school library to continue. When they stopped their shooting at the library, witness heard them talking about how it was no longer fun shooting their victims and then Dylan mentioned that they should start knifing people to make it more fun since they were equipped with knifes. At 12:08 pm when the shooting had stopped, Eric and Harris had both committed suicide by shooting themselves which meant the massacre was
On April 20th 1999, Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris committed a planned mass murder at their high school killing 13 people and injuring 20 in just an hour (XxSlenderMotorX, 2012). They planted bombs throughout the school, but they did not detonate. Sadly, they also took guns to kill people, so even when the bombs did not go off they were able to go through with their act. There original goal was to kill plenty more people than they did. They wrote journals and claimed to want to be like the LA Riots, the Oklahoma Bombing, Vietnam, etc (XxSlenderMotorX, 2012).. They named there desired massacre after a movie called Named Born Killer or NBK, they felt like they related to these boys in the movie and felt superior to their other students (XxSlenderMotorX, 2012). Sadly, a lot of their problem stemmed from kids not letting the boys participate in social events. These boys felt shut out and unwanted, but also felt better than anyone else. In the end, Dylan and Eric also ended up killing themselves. So, who were these boys and what potentially caused them to attack their school?

The first misconception is that the social cliques that occur in high schools across the nation has a role in this tragedy. Columbine is not simply a school shooting but is rather a shooting that the gunmen chose the school as their tool. School shooters tend to act impulsively and attack the targets of their rage mainly the students and faculty. Harris and Klebold planned for a year and dreamed much bigger. The school served as a means to a grander end, to terrorize the entire nation by attacking a symbol of American life. The shooters talk in numerous video tapes about their act being bigger than the Oklahoma city bombings. They boasted about making sure there bloody performance was bigger and more memorable. Klebold is particular was quoted as bragging about inflicting “the most deaths in U.S. history. Columbine was

For a very long time, women were not allowed to vote because they were just women, they were not “capable” for the things men could do.
Recently there have been many school shootings throughout the United States and the world. Most of these shooting were all connected with the shooter being on anti-depressant medications. In an article called “Medicated to death: by SSRI’s and mass killings” by Lisa Arbercheski, she writes that SSRI’s are linked to the cause of most shootings. Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRI) is one of the most popular medications taken for depression in many countries. Some are known by their popular names like Prozac, Zoloft, Celexa, and Paxil. These medications have many tests done and none of them prove that they cure depression or mood swings. Could these medications be connected to some of the most recent shootings like the one in Newton, Connecticut? The case is that these medications are causing adolescents to go on suicidal rampage shootings and the United States is trying to play it off like the medications have no connection.
Dressed in trench coats Eric and Dylan went to Columbine High School, of which they attended with intent to blow the whole place up. Mimicking the Oklahoma shootings in 1995. After placing the bombs throughout the school, they went to their cars to wait for the explosions. Neither Eric or Dylan were knowledgeable when it came to wiring explosives so they did not detonate. It was then they armed up and started the massacre at Columbine High on April 20, 1999. They would go on to kill 13 people, and wounding over 20 people; as well as, spraying bullets as they walked through the halls, no remorse or hesitation just complete anililation.
