College Admissions Essay: Two Truths And A Lie

If we were playing “Two Truths and a Lie,” I’d say the following: actor Samuel L. Jackson refused to take a selfie with me at the Oscars because I did not say “please,” my family lost me in Disneyland, and I got accepted at CSUDH in the school’s MBA program. The last, of course, is the lie. But, let me give you a few reasons why to make it a truth.

After one year working as a marketing and transaction coordinator at Marcus & Millichap for the Boeve Investment Services team, I feel very comfortable here, but I want to broaden my horizons. I started my college career by enrolling at a local community college to earn my associate degree in graphic design. During my two years, I experimented with different techniques in regards to art and design: from sculpture to two-dimensional design. However, I did not feel like I was done with my education after receiving my degree. I wanted to learn about promoting the overall brand of an organization. My degrees overlap with marketing because all three professions want to see a happy client at the end of day. The professions start with the client’s objective. You have to know the specific outcome the client seeks as well as the audience preferred.

Even though there is overlap, there are differences in the majors. Marketers are taught to measure and track conversions. At my current position as a marketing and transactions coordinator, I can honestly say I cannot tell my boss the nitty-gritty details of how every part of a campaign or site performed.
