There is nothing like spending the day outdoors and having quality time with my dad. He is an avid sportsman and has been sharing his passion with me since I was young. Hunting and fishing allow me to get away from my daily pressures while experiencing the great outdoors. The Eastern Shore is perfect for waterfowl and deer hunting. We get up before the sun, hike to the blind and set out decoys before the birds start to fly. The hunting blind is an interesting place to spend the day. I am often the only girl but they treat me like one of the guys, never holding back the colorful jokes and storytelling. While we watch the skies, the camaraderie we share is priceless. There is advice about business deals and family issues, sharing of each other’s hopes and problems. You really get to know one another being confined in such a small space. Deer hunting is very different. It is a time of self reflection, well, if awake. My dad stays with me while deer hunting since I am not ready to go solo. He leads the way through the woods in the dark to the double tree stand. I put on a harness and climb …show more content…
In recent years his interest has turned toward deep sea fishing. While bay fishing is fun and relaxing, there is nothing like being off shore with no land in sight. The water is so crystal clear making it easy to view the sea life; such as sea turtles, whales, giant sunfish and porpoises. There is a lot of down time on the boat when everyone on board is carrying on and telling jokes and stories. But when that rod goes down and the reel starts screaming, it gets crazy. We have to make sure the hook is set and move other lines out of the way, which can get tricky if we have hooked more than one. You can feel the excitement. Reeling in a fish can take hours making my arms ache. There is nothing like watching a marlin dance and jump across the water or eating fresh tuna, sushi style, on the back of the
As far as rods go, you have the choice of getting an actual rod with a reel on it that you are going to have to tend to and watch while fishing, or you could get yourself something called a tip-up. This nifty little device is just a lever mechanism that tips up when ever you get a bite. There are excellent because you can have multiple lines in the water and still have your hands free for a hot coffee, or cold beer.
Wiping sweat off my forehead, I stand up excitedly. The paw-prints on the ground are fresh—I have almost located them. Jumping back into the beat-up pick-up truck, I follow the increasingly loud beeping of the radio telemetry set until I spot the pack just fifty yards in front of me. Quietly, I climb out of the vehicle, and momentarily stare in awe at the small pack of gray wolves I have been tracking for hours in the wilderness of Montana. My field pants are speckled with briars and a few stray leaves cling to my backpack and one even dangles at the end of my braided hair. I observe the wolves, noticing the behavior of each member, record various data of the current area, and save the point in my GPS. Having successfully completed the
Hunting and fishing are my two favorite outdoor activities. There is a certain level of competition that involves hunting and fishing. I learned to have a great deal of patience; I understand the wait is well worth the reward. Shooting that big buck or catching that trophy fish are a couple things that make me admire the outdoors and the creatures in nature. Every day is a new adventure because nature changes every day. Sitting 20 feet up in the tree or floating on the water continuously for countless hours is a couple things that make people think differently of my choice in
Fishing is a fun way for me to spend some time with my family members and just relax feeling the refreshing breeze hit my face. I enjoy going with my older brother to the lake here in Newton or Out in other towns. One time me and my brother went to a lake outside of Newton in a different town and stayed there for most of the day. We hardly caught anything but it was fun being out there with only my older brother. And the fish we did catch were all to small to take home to cook and man I wish we did catch a big one.
It was the middle of October, and it was finally time for my long awaited moose hunt. I have waited ever since I was a little girl for this opportunity, and it was finally here. So, my father and I packed up our stuff and left the warmth of Phoenix. We were leaving the "Valley of the Sun" and headed for a place called Wyoming. After two days and fourteen long hours of driving, we made it to our hunting unit.
As with Tyler Hurd’s involvement in the sport of fishing, it is not just the awe-inspiring loot he may catch that drives his persistence to keep fishing, it’s also about the fishing ventures he takes alone that satisfies his curiosity as well. While Hurd’s many fishing expeditions occur in the fishing areas of Galveston, his accompanying friends or relatives seem to limit his eagerness to try various different ways of fishing other than occupying fishing piers that contain crowds or charter boats that carry packs of people. Unlike the regular ways of his companions, Hurd particularly uses one of many available canoes within a bay area whenever the chance for him doing so arises.
Growing up, my dad worked hard and did not leave much time to bring us fishing. Now that I can drive the amount of time spent on the lake each summer has increased dramatically, and I am never on the lake alone. My brother, who also loves fishing, and I make a great team. There are times Jackson and I will head out to the lake by ourselves. Even though he is younger brother, I like fishing with him more than any of my friends who are my own age.
My grandpa loved to be outdoors no matter what he was doing. He loved to take anyone fishing, whether that be family or friends. He used to
We woke up and i was so happy to get out there that i had 30min to spare so i sat there on the couch waiting for my family to get ready. After they got ready we all went to are blinds but i wasn't old enough to hunt
My father has been taking my brother and I hunting since we were very tiny. My family owns a cabin down in Beardstown, Illinois, where we have a lot of hunting ground and it’s also a place we can all hang out and ride fourwheelers at. Usually, when we are down there, my Grandfather and the rest of our friends and family are also there too, so we always have a lot of fun times when we are with them.
I have personally been catching various species of fish using various forms of bait for more than a quarter of a century and in that time have learned many tips and tricks relating to the types of bait as well as tips and tricks to help me when fishing with bait. When you are new to the world of fishing with bait, getting of on the right foot is of the utmost importance and that is exactly what this simple article will do. Truth be told, the information that I will outline below isn't just for beginners, as even experienced fishermen will probably find a "nugget" or two that will help them to catch more fish as well.
When I am not out in the woods playing with my friends, I am home bonding with my entertaining family. My large, happy family lives
Chance Jones-For the fishing opener my family is heading to the cabin. My cabin is located in elk lake When it's warm out my awesome family go out on the lake and fish. My grandparent will probably come with us too. My family goes on a fishing trip this year. My family goes up to the cabin every weekend over the summer or if it nice that weekend. Me and my dad every weekend we took the boat out and find a good fishing spot. Me and my brother when we go fishing we see who catch the biggest fish. But I win every time.we fished for bass, northern pike, crappies. If they are small we let them go back in the water. On a hot day we take the boat out and go tubing with my family. Or me and my brother go swimming in our lake.
These are the fundamental techniques and steps that impact the odds of having a successful fishing experience. There are many essential items one must have in order to go fishing. Using the right setting up techniques and learning how to cast your line out, is just as important as knowing what equipment to have. However, by far the most important key to having a successful fishing trip, is proper casting of the rod.
My cousins always push me into things I don’t want to do. In the past they have pushed me or convinced me to do something that I don’t want to do. They love to go boating and so do I, but when it comes to one of them driving the boat while we are tubing. I want to stay as far away from the water as possible. Or else they will jump from tube to tube, or go 50 miles an hour and give me a huge migraine from yelling at them to slow the boat down. I’m like them in many ways but at the same time not so much. I don’t go hike up the side of a mountain for fun, or jump off a cliff without a life jacket.. A lot of the older ones are crazier than us young ones. Especially when they are trying something new that can be dangerous sometimes. Especially when they tried to push me into some dangerous stunts a couple vacations ago. It was like a gust of exhilaration as I started my descent off the cliff. It was like a gust of adrenaline as I fell almost 50 feet in the air only to reach a dangerous deep whirlpool of murky lake water at the bottom. I felt as If I was floating on top of a still pool and the nice refreshing feel of water giving me chills from the tip of my toes ,through my spine, and to the outside of my head. I had to get used to it though. But that is just a small part
