In the words of civil rights great Mahatma Gandhi, “Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.” Receiving an education, in my opinion, is the foremost responsibility of every individual who walks this Earth. Education, however, has different meanings for different people. In some cultures, an education may include learning agrarian or farming techniques. In many other cultures, an education consists of attending primary school, secondary school and later attending college. No matter how the concept of education is prescribed in a given society, this fact remains true: everyone desires to have learned more when they leave this world than they did when they came in. Personally, I desire to receive a college education because I believe that by receiving such an …show more content…
Throughout my life and educational career, I have always been the person who was “called on” to be the Master of Ceremonies for a program or to speak at an event. Like most people, I often changed my career goals—wanting to be a dentist one day, an educator the next. One thing remained constant, however—I talked and people listened. Since elementary school until present, I have been an anchor on my schools’ news teams. Currently, I function as anchor and producer of my school’s news team which I helped begin from the “bottom up”. I now realize that creativity and media are my passions, so now I am determined to pursue them as career goals. Aspiring to become a high-profile individual in the media, I intend on revolutionizing how individuals are portrayed in the media—particularly African Americans. Without a college education, I would not be able to become the media professional that I intend to become thus not being able to make an
My education has served as a critical role in influencing who I am as a person and has taught me valuable lessons in living a prosperous and happy life. My teachers and professors have created an environment where it was possible for me to grow intellectually while developing a positive mindset. As a result, I feel intellectually prepared for my envisioned career in medicine because I have gained essential qualities, such as diligence, determination, integrity, and consistency all the while motivating me to overcome any obstacle that I may face. In addition, my education has allowed me to positively adjust my attitude to the demands of the ever-changing world and inundate me with new life experiences that shape who I am. As a result, I have
Following graduating from The College of Charleston, I want to be remembered as a young man who always put his best foot forward and gave his all in every situation. I would like my work to reflect all the effort that I put in. This is work not only in the classroom, but any activities and obligations outside of that as well. I want my accomplishments to show that I was not just another student walking on this campus seeking a degree, but that I came to serve a purpose. Although I’m still trying to find that purpose, I believe that I will know it definitely by the time that I walk the Cistern.
I am actively searching for an undergraduate school in which it is possible for me to encounter numerous people of various beliefs, races, and backgrounds. Therefore, the quality that attracts me most to the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts is the high regard to diversity. The other thing that attracts me to the College of Literature, Science and the Arts, is the academic standard. I am really interested in being in a hands on program that involves innovative thinking so that I can be both challenged and transformed by my experiences.
I’ve always been interested in the field of medicine. When I was being born, I almost died, being saved only by the ingenuity of a Nurse Day for whom my middle name is dedicated to. Above all else, I want to have an impact on the quality of life for others, and I think the University of Pennsylvania is one of, if not the, best ways to do that. Its bioengineering department is consistently ranked to be the most rigorous in the field, and I can handle rigor.
When considering what college I want to go to, a big aspect for me is location. I want my college education to be more than what I learn in the classroom. It would be an honor to attend this school and not only receive a great education, but also experience all that Los Angeles has to offer. I want to study Psychology at the University of Southern California because I believe the outlook one has on life can greatly affect the way they live it. Today, our society has the tendency to focus on the negative.
of reference, I realized I needed fraternity. I realized I needed camaraderie. I realized I needed to be a Whiffenpoof.
School has always been a place where I am capable of feeling at ease, despite having a vast array of tests and assignments on any given day. School is a place where I am free to learn and challenge myself, and the farther I’ve progressed into high school the greater the amount of choices I am required to make. Last year, I dealt with planning my schedule around classes I enjoy like Latin, Spanish, and English, and one class I am very passionate about: biology. This year I am destined to make a far more difficult decision, determining which college is best suited for me. I firmly believe the University of Pennsylvania is a school in which I would excell.
This would be my first year here at Colorado Christian University if accepted. I have been to different colleges and have really enjoyed I have to continue my studies online because I have kids. I graduated in 2012 from Ultimate Medical Academy in Medical Administrative Assistant diploma program it was a little challenged but I managed to achieve my goal in all my studies so with that being said my academic here would not be a problem because if I have a problem or get stuck on something I will contact my advisor for some help if needed. Now at Everest college this was my last college I had a 3.0 GPA but I withdrew from this school didn’t work out
As I am nearing the end of my undergraduate journey, I find that I am being asked more frequently as to what my plans are after graduation. When I respond that I am applying to graduate school and I am really excited about continuing my education, I often receive the same reaction: a look of utter confusion and the question “Why?” The answer is simple: I love learning. I think that knowledge gives one more power than possessing riches, fame, or an army ever could. To quote the Doctor in my favorite TV show, Doctor Who, he says “You want weapons? We’re in a library! Books! The best weapons in the world! This room’s the greatest arsenal we could have – arm yourselves!” This quote illustrates exactly how I feel about possessing knowledge. There isn’t a problem in this world that a little bit of erudition can’t solve. However,
If someone asked me where I am going to be in ten years, this would be my answer. I will have a great, high-paying job, and beautiful wife and family, and a nice sports car parked in front of my lovely house. When I look into the future, I see myself being successful and happy. Even though I always pictured myself this way, I never worried too much about how I would get there. I feel the Suffolk University can lay the groundwork for making these dreams into reality.
I’m drawn to design because it is everywhere and has the potential to affect so much of how people feel about a certain space or about an experience. From a young age, I was fortunate to be exposed to art; my parents would constantly take my brother and me to museums and galleries and at home, my grandmother would teach me skills such as crocheting, needlepoint and how to replicate food out of playdough. In both elementary school and middle school I drew and created little things such as bookmarks and stuffed animals, but I was never known as the “art kid”. I loved art and I understood that there was so much potential to create something original and to express an idea, but I just didn't understand how. Early eighth grade I found out about
I grew up in Joliet, Illinois with the loving support I always received from my parents and family. My father was born in Michoacán, Mexico. As parents, you want the absolute best for your children, my grandparents made the decision to move to the United States to give their children and themselves a better future. My mother was born here in the United States. Both of my parents never went to college and because of that, my parents always tell me that they want me to go to college so I can avoid the struggle in the future. In addition, they always wanted to give us everything they never had. My biggest goal in life is to be successful and genuinely happy with my life. I enjoy many things such as spending time with my family and friends, giving back to my community through service projects, and learning new things.
Growing up in Philadelphia, I am well acquainted with University of Pennsylvania and its campus. I am a frequent flier of Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, so walking through the campus nearly every day, gave me some insight. I remember seeing students sitting and eating lunch on a giant, broken button that is located in the middle of the campus, and I remember the beautiful red library that students would rush in and out of during finals week. I sat on the button statue, and realized, “Yeah, I want to go here.” From that day on, I was determined to enter your institution.
I am writing this because I urge you to reconsider my admission to the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I was recently denied admission in March, which has truly affected me in a number of ways. My top goal in life has been to attend UW-Madison since a very young age. However, I am currently questioning Madison’s ethics and protocols considering that a friend with much lower credentials than me was offered admission and I was not. I know for a fact that her ACT score was three points lower than mine, her GPA is a little higher than mine, but relatively the same. I also participate in a lot more extracurriculars than her and hold much more leadership positions. I am currently questioning if her race played a role in her acceptance since she is Hispanic and I am Caucasian. I truly hope that I was not denied acceptance to my dream school due to affirmative action.
Twenty years commercial experience within the creative industries has taught me that the process of creative interaction is often collaborative and has allowed me
