Cold War is defined as a state of political hostility existing between countries, characterized by threats, violent propaganda, subversive activities, and other measures short of open warfare, in particular. In 1947, the Cold War had started, named after how both of the disputing sides did not fight but only threatened each other with new technologies. The U.S and Soviet Union disagreements on political systems and also questioned war reparation, show how they cause the Cold War with their mistrust and technological issues.

1.     How NSC-68 influenced America’s response to Communist North Korea’s invasion of South Korea in June 1950 and to Communist expansion in Southeast Asia in the 1960s. The NSC-68 called for military assistance programs that would meet the requirements of our allies. Since South Korea was an ally, we assisted them in repelling the invasion of another communist nation. This help for South Korea meant that a communist nation would be weakened and therefore possibly cripple a potential ally for the Soviet Union. Also, South Korea would then respond to a call for aid if the Soviet Union ever attacked

After World War II, the Eastern and Western Allies started to grow apart. The Eastern Bloc was led by the Soviet Union and promoted communism, while the Western Bloc was led by the United States and promoted capitalism, through democracy. Both wanted their country’s ideals to spread throughout the world, and at the same time, prevent the opposing superpower from taking over. In an attempt to stop the spread of communism, the United States created NATO and the Truman Doctrine, while the Soviet Union tried to stop democracy by creating the Warsaw Pact. At this point, the world was divided, and most third world countries became pawns in the fight of communism versus capitalism.

After the World War 2 between powers in the Eastern Bloc and powers in the Western Bloc, the relationship developed primarily between the USA and USSR; eventually leading up to a war called the Cold War. Although the Cold War was between the United States and the Soviet Union; ultimately, the Cold War was mainly caused by the USSR because of Stalin’s dominating behavior, the USSR’s military and territory expansion, and USSR’s aim of spreading world communism or USSR’s dislike of capitalism.

During 1948-1961, the American people became overwhelmed with calamity regarding fear of the Cold War, as well as the impacts of WWII. The president at the time, Dwight Eisenhower; a former U.S General won the election of 1952 and described his ideology as “modern Republicanism”. Ike and his administration believed in a balanced budget, as well as conservative government spending; “Conservative with money and liberal with humans”. Eisenhower time as president would allow the middle class to thrive economically; by adding social security, minimum wage, and Departments of Education, Health, and Welfare. Eisenhower's strategy to promote the “good times” of the 50’s economic success, stand against Communism and create his “Brinkmanship” allowed American society to prosper, and address the nation’s fears.

Throughout history, Russia and the United States have had many relations, and one of those were the Cold War. Following World War I, allies Russia and the United States went into a Cold War. The Cold War lasted from 1945 until 1991 over ideology and arms race. Both parties competed for world domination, bringing them to the brink of a nuclear war. Because the Soviets had an agenda to spread communism, the Cold War was started because Russia brought the world economic toil and a disruption to world peace.

Europe after the capitulation of Nazi Germany and the subsequent Allied victory in World War II was in ruins from years of fighting and bombing. Cities and infrastructure lay flattened and shortages of vital consumer products of food and fuel persisted across Europe. The economic situation of Europe was also in tatters; many countries suffered from severe inflation, debt, trade deficits, and depleted gold supplies. The United States having remained virtually untouched by the destruction had emerged from World War II stronger than ever before both an industrial economic, and military powerhouse. The Soviet Union though also suffering from the wounds of the war began to establish pro-Soviet communist governments in the Eastern European countries

The 46 year struggle known as the Cold War all started over a disagreement at Potsdam. Stalin refused to allow what the Allies wanted. They wanted to give free election to countries in easter Europe like Poland, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Romania, and Bulgaria. All these countries became satellite rates controlled by the Soviet Union. This made Truman believe that Stalin was planning to conquer the world and that the former alliance was falling apart. This turned into a battle between Communism and Democracy. Throughout almost all of the Cold War the United States adopted a foreign policy called “containment”.The United States contained Communism in Berlin, Korea, and Cuba by not allowing the Soviet Union to gain anymore land or power.

The Cold war was a rivalry between two states that was led by the United States, Great Britain, and Communist being involved and led by the Soviet Union. The Cold War’s impact shaped up our lives into becoming something new and something different, World War II made us realize how horrible such things can become and lead up to if we keep our mouths shut and don’t say a word after what happened to the millions of Jews, Communist, and more died due to Hitler’s power overcoming, The Cold War has shaped up our lives in every country to becoming something new and to have a different kind of mindset and to keep allies with other countries with one another in case something as horrible as World War II ever comes to happen again.

The Cold War was a very important time in the history of the United States. It was a war between the U.S. and the U.S.S.R or otherwise known as the Soviet Union. This was was a fight between capitalism and communism. There were many deaths in crises that were caused by the Cold War. Some of these crises include the Cuban Missile Crisis, Vietnam, Hungary, and the Berlin Wall. Like all wars go, there are many consequences and sometimes tragic things that can happen to the countries that are participating in the war. Economies could collapse and then after the war one country could just be stuck in a large hole of debt. After the in the World War II, there was a power division of the world into two axes of power that created the United Soviet Socialist Republics or only the Soviet Union.  The axis of power and the scramble for the control of the world led to the making of the Berlin wall and division of eastern and western Germany each with either ideology. The allies which included the USA, Great Britain and France formed allied forces. Although the cold war was in itself not a war, it was an economic sanction and led to the development of world deadliest weapons. It is also the exodus of the deadly Cuban missile and the rise of China.

The Cold War was the name given to the non-aggressive conflict between The United States and Russia that began after World War II. However, there is disagreement over the exact dates of the Cold War. Nevertheless, it took place somewhere between the end of World War II and the early 1989 (Wendt n.d). The Cold War brought about a number of crises in the decades that it lasted. These crises include: Vietnam, the Berlin Wall, and the Cuban Missile Crisis. The Cold War itself was the result of the United States and Russia having two different ideologies when it came to running their respective countries.

The Cold War changed the world in several ways. It all started off as a war between two countries, the United States and the Soviet Union but it quickly ended up affecting practically every country in the world some how. The world split into two sides either countries went with the ideology of the U.S.’s or the Soviet Union’s.
