Civil Service should be something that is mandatory for every 18 year old after high school. Something that should be mandatory for every American after high school is civil service because it teaches people to appreciate the work others do every day, it also teaches Americans to cooperate with other ethnicities and people of other religious beliefs, teaching them tolerance and teamwork, finally it can also teach them important or needed skills like leadership and endurance. One of the many reasons 18 year olds should have at least one year in civil service is because they would be able to appreciate the work of people that chose to that kind of job in the first place because nowadays Americans just take everything for granted and become indifferent to the things around them, there is thousand of people being executed in the Middle East but almost no Americans do anything, back when 9/11 happened Americans got real upset and a lot of them decided to join the army nowadays we have less than 500,000 soldier in the army, all in all …show more content…
Some people haven't even met a person of some kind of color whether it be african-american or latino, it would be a good way to introduce Americans to different ethnicities and groups and teaching them how to work together. Some people may think that this would take away precious college/career time, but do you really need that one year? The military offers scholarships and pays your school debt, you can even serve in the military and be in school at the same time or alternate, it could also be good for people that don’t know what they want to do with their life’s to go, to see what they want to do. Overall it could a total gain in a social way and help break down boundaries between races and get people more
Many high schools around the country have made community service hours mandatory in order for the seniors to graduate. Not everyone agrees that this should be a requirement because seniors already have enough on their plate. When seniors are about to graduate, it does not matter how many tasks they have to complete as a requirement if they do not feel like doing it and they have no motivation they will not complete
Mandatory Public service is a topic that has been debated for years. Joanne Levy-Prewitt, an independent college admission counselor, is in favor of making Public Services a requirement for graduated students. The relationship between service and education is significant and benefit from each other.
After World War two the draft was no longer a option for the American Army. Compulsory conscription is today’s version of the draft, and the draft played a large part in World War two. Over seventy percent of men that were the between the ages of 18 and 35 were in the army and because of all the time they spent together and their similar ages many of these guys became lifelong friends. Since world war two the only tragedy that has brought our people together as a nation was the 9/11 terrorists attacks. The difference between todays army and the traditional army is the participation.
Many countries require young people to serve two years of military service, and as we continue to have military conflicts across the world, some people have proposed that the united states adopt a similar type of policy of mandatory conscription. I believe that a two-year period of national service should be obligatory for all 18 year olds. It’ll help strengthen the character of youth, and will help increase the collective conscience of a nation and the restraint of leaders when considering military action. As we have 18 year olds go into the military, they should get the option in whatever kind of public service that suits his or her interest. Different genders across the world are frequently given different responsibilities. For example,
People may be old enough to vote and fight for our country, but at the age of eighteen,
Considering the fact that eighteen year-olds are perceived to be mature enough to have privileges and opportunities such as voting and enlisting to fight for our
Abstract: Imperial examination in ancient China was developing based on the nine-rank system. From Sui and Tang dynasties to Guangxu year, Qing dynasty, it took more than 1300 years to evolve. The Imperial Examination is officially called Keju Examination in China, which was an important part of education system of feudal society in ancient China. In the mean time, it was a kind of officer-selecting system as well. It played a significant role in cultivating, selecting, and making use of talents. There are many students cannot go to college because of the cost of college tuition. Some students work hard at the fast food places, restaurant to pay off their tuition. The government of the United State gives the opportunities for the young Americans that if they participate in national service to the country, they will be able to exchange for free colleges or technical school tuition. The government also gives students many options such as working at an urban library for library major; working in a homeless shelter for social work major; working in the juvenile justice system or prisons for criminal justice majors; working in hospitals for pre-med students and nursing majors. Young Americans should participate in national services in
Young adults at this age are given the option to join the military and vote for our president. Young men and women go to war every day with no assurance that they will return.
The topic of mandatory national service has been around for years now, and there will always be arguments on whether it should be enforced or not. Some may say that it takes away our freedom, but is it not what gives us freedom in the first place? The United States’ military, national service, as well as community service is based on volunteers. That is what makes this country great, but there are less volunteers as years go by. Crime increases, streets are not safe anymore, Americans are oblivious to what is happening around the world. There are so many opportunities to give back to the country, yet, not many care. Today’s generation is based on social trends, and self-gratification. There is also the fact that many young people do not know what to do with their life after high school, some continue to college or focus on work, others do not work nor study. Therefore, all young men and women should be required to give two years to national service because it can help solve problems as well as build the community back together.
This would make the military have more dropouts to train and fight. One cannot deny that a high school drop may struggle with success, but really they could be productive members of the military if they are forced to join the military. High School dropouts would have an opportunity to be useful in the army and it would benefit the
Civil service is a great thing for America, however, all future United State high school graduates should not be forced to spend one year after high school in service. The reasons I think this include these high school graduates should be able to make their own decisions, college is a great path immediately following high school and finally forced service would lead to lack of motivation for workers. These points argue that joining the civil services is an obstacle, preventing these kids from pursuing their dreams.
The U.S. Congress is considering a requirement of one year of civil service by either participating in the military, or contributing to a civilian service program, a mandate that would be imposed on high school graduates prior to them entering college. Consequently, this is directed towards all high school students in the U.S. In my opinion, this requirement would be in direct conflict with all that we value as citizens of the United States of America. Moreover, I feel that this move towards mandated civil service aimed at all high school graduates would infringe on our basic freedom of choice and our right to "The American Dream", the ability to choose what we do and have the freedom to try to achieve our dreams.
Most people have, at one point or another, considered what they were going to do with their lives. Whether a person would like to become an activist, an artisan or a business professional, the military has something for everyone. Finding a path in life is often filled with uncertainty and procrastination. The United States military is a path in itself, should one wish to retire from it; however, should a person wish to make their own path, there are benefits for that as well that can remove all doubt and curb procrastination. Due to these many benefits, I believe that it should be mandatory for all adults to enlist for a minimum of twenty-four months.
As many other countries mandate young adults partaking in the military for two years, the United States should follow suit. Many beneficial consequences would be rendered as a result of the increase in service. This would also be a great commencement into the real world for any young adult. These statements can be explored by discussing the benefits of free college tuition, disciplined young adults who are ready to follow orders, and the sheer power of numbers.
