We are going on a road trip everybody! Let’s go to the Chain Rock in Kentucky; it will be so thrilling and it’s only a half mile walk there. Doesn’t that sound exciting? No, it isn’t exciting, the walk is more like a hike and it is challenging. No one that rarely hikes can even make it to the Chain Rock, because there is a massive boulder in the way so the trip is pointless, if you have those circumstances. Never go to Chain Rock, it is not worth the gas, money, or time. The trail of the half of a mile hike consisted of woods, heat, and disappointment. First, going into the trail of Chain Rock, there is an outstanding amount of stairs that seem to never end. Then at the end of the stairs starts the trail of the dusty, dirty and slippery rocks. The trail had bumpy, hills; long, stairs; and treacherous, slopes. About every five feet there is a chance of almost falling, because of all the dangerously large obstacles there is to overcome. Along the way, there is a tree with an enormous buzzing bee. People who are highly allergic to bees would probably scream and …show more content…
Never wear boots, flip-flops, shorts, or jeans on this trip because there will be no point of going. And if this attire is worn venturing out on this trip will not be a very intriguing one. Never hiking will make this quest extremely tough for anyone. With the temperature being about ninety degrees anyone would get parched, famished, and exhausted. They would also smell terrible and complain the entire hike about the aches and pains. Maybe if a person was in shape and had the proper attire, hiking the trail may be fun. But, someone who isn’t any of that would have a terrible experience. If one is not fit never do this unless a person would want to feel like they were dying or challenge their self. Even if a person is young they would still feel the aches and pains of the strenuous
One day in his new hometown of New Hampshire, Bill Bryson discovers a path that leads to the Appalachian Trail. Despite his knowledge of the trail’s intimidating features and warnings from friends, who illustrate horror stories of snake and bear attacks, Bryson reminisces about hiking trips from his youth. He decides to try and hike the entire Appalachian Trail, over six weeks, beginning in early spring. Bryson buys all of the equipment he will need on his journey and to kill time before his trek, he reads books about the trail.

A year later, in 1960, nine-year-old Ruby Bridges became the first black child to attend the William Frantz Elementary School in New Orleans, Louisiana. Similar to the experience of the Little Rock Nine, The National Guard had to escort Bridges into the school. White parents yanked their children out of William Frantz Elementary, and only one teacher agreed to teach Bridges.
Oil spills are a major problem in america, but the government doesn’t want you to know that. Just like how they didn’t want you to know that “People that worked on the 2010 oil spill cleanup have reported eye, nose, and throat problems, blood in the urine, seizures, vomiting, nausea, respiratory issues, skin problems, liver and kidney problems, nervous system damage, miscarriages, and other health problems.”(SoftSchools). Now imagine what will happen to the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe once their drinking water becomes toxic after putting in the Dakota Access pipeline. Although Trump and the big banks are supporting the Dakota Access Pipeline, activists like the Native Americans and stars like Shailene Woodley are standing up for what is right, such as clean water and peace.
Taking on a journey stretching well over 2,100 miles, covering fourteen states (from Maine to Georgia) by foot is no simple stroll where at the end of the day a comfortable bed and hot meal would await you. Instead, hiking the Appalachian Trail can be an endless battle with all the elements of mother nature: whereas in one state spring would have sprung already with wildflowers dressing the forest floors and insects buzzing through crisp air, on other parts of the trail it [the weather conditions] would be smothering heat, but meanwhile a few states north the rain would fall endlessly with gusts of cold wind, and snow would blanket the pathways of the trail and more than likely blizzards
Our backing group had for some time hiked all over the Sierra’s, and because our leader Mario Bonura made it easy on us, the trips were always circular. That is we ended up where we started from. So we talked about a backpacking trip which combined other trips but began and ended up elsewhere. With this in mind we devised this trip which began in Toulumne Meadows
Pine needles and underbrush crunched underfoot as I climbed uphill on the mountainside. The forest canopy acted as a strainer, blocking all but the most lucky rays of sunlight. Sweat rappelled down my face and jumped off the tip of my nose, falling to the soft earth. My body commanded me to stop, to rest, to give up. For days I had already hiked and camped among the Blue Ridge Mountains with no sense of accomplishment, and I hungered for satisfaction. Rain and constant change in elevation broke my spirit, and encouraged me to go home. I felt as if nature itself taunted me, pushing me to give up. It became my worst enemy.
If you believe in the real underground of Rock 'N' Roll, then now is the time to do something about it. The time is now to overthrow the current situations and declare war on the record companies, radio stations, publications, clubs, and anyone who promotes the whole so called "scene" as it now stands. We need to destroy it all and take it back from the corporate phonies and conformist. But action must be taken now and blood must be spilled. First let me tell you who I am.
Although Classic Rock is beloved by a lot of people, some people think that Classic Rock is dead or isn’t what it used to be. This statement is untrue because classic rock is getting introduced to younger and younger generations, it’s being put on clothing, and it is being played on radio stations. This statement is untrue because classic rock is getting introduced to younger and younger generations and its being carried on through clothing and radio stations. When the radio stations stop playing classic rock and clothing companies stop producing classic rock symbol on their products, than classic rock will be dead, but until then it is safe to say that the genre of Classic Rock is going nowhere. The day had just begin. I was ready for another day of heaven. I live in Cincinnati, Ohio where it doesn’t matter what skin color you are you’re treated exactly the same. I was interrupted in my thoughts by the school announcements buzzing through the microphone saying…
In my opinion, the slasher film “Scream” is one of my favorite horror films of all time. While there are better ones out, Scream is still such a good movie. A lot of people consider this film to be more of a spoof of horror films, or a Parody like “Scary Movie”, but I still think it’s extremely effective. This is a story that really destroyed many of the usual clichés in typical horror films, and it had interesting characters which the audience could get behind and was just overall really fun to watch. Today I want to talk about the opening scene with Casey played by the niece of Steven Spielberg Drew Barrymore and how it conveys Wes Craven’s filming style. Everyone probably thought Casey would be the hero of the story, but she is killed almost
Hello Erica, That sounds like an incredible hike. I like that you have an appreciation for the beauty of nature you can see so many breath taking views on hikes. It takes a lot of bravery to go to an abandoned ghost town that is not something that I would be able to do. You seem very enthusiastic about this trip. I think that is really cool because it allowed you and your friends to bond while doing something enjoyable.
For example, using a leftover coffee can for loose nails or screws, or even washing and reusing a plastic zip-loc bag instead of throwing it in the garbage. Thrift shopping is a way of reusing someone else’s unwanted goods. As I spoke about in an earlier speech about thrifting, I included many locations and ways to thrift, also the benefits to the shopper and the donator. One place in particular was shopping at the local boys and girls club. I personally shop there, keeping my eyes open for a good deal. For example, the pair of jeans that I am wearing today was purchased from this store just a few months ago. I paid only $8.00 for this pair of Lucky Jeans and according to buckle.com, a retailer for lucky jeans the retail price is $99.00 that is a savings to me of $91.00.I am not the type to worry about name brands, but quality usually does cost more. If I can get a quality pair of jeans at a fraction on the price, I am glad to shop at the thrift store. I am thankful to the person that made the donation of the lucky jeans and they can benefit from that donation. According to the IRS webpage, IRS. Gov it explains that an individual can donate items like clothing, household furniture and furnishings, a car or boat, even taxidermy. The donations are appraised, by the donator, and recorded. At the time of filing taxes if the donation equals at least $500 for the year, the donator may take advantage of the
Hiking to the summit of Black Mountain is not an easy hike. The hike is plagued with boulders, slippery rocks, and a steep incline, which makes the hike feel like walking up an infinite flight of stairs. However, the pain in my thighs and the burning in my lungs is a tiny price to pay to experience the summit of Black Mountain. My first experience with Black Mountain’s summit occurred when I was only five years old. My aunt used to be a hiking fanatic, and she loved to take me on new hikes that she discovered. When my aunt and I reached the summit of Black Mountain for the first time, I was captivated by the place. My captivation has continued throughout the years. The summit of Black Mountain is captivating because of its environment, view, and weather.
