Persuasive Speech
Reduce Landfill Waste by Reduce, Reuse and Recycling and the financial benefits
I. Introduction A. Attention Getter: Over half of the waste that ends up in the landfill does not belong there because it could have been recycled or reused.
B. Credibility Statement: Not only do I religiously practice reducing, reusing, and recycling, but I have done a great deal of research for this speech, also research for a recycling project in my Human Concerns Class.
C. Significance/Identification Statement: The survey that I conducted with this class concluded that every one of us acknowledges that recycling is beneficial, yet only 60%, a little

For example, using a leftover coffee can for loose nails or screws, or even washing and reusing a plastic zip-loc bag instead of throwing it in the garbage. Thrift shopping is a way of reusing someone else’s unwanted goods. As I spoke about in an earlier speech about thrifting, I included many locations and ways to thrift, also the benefits to the shopper and the donator. One place in particular was shopping at the local boys and girls club. I personally shop there, keeping my eyes open for a good deal. For example, the pair of jeans that I am wearing today was purchased from this store just a few months ago. I paid only $8.00 for this pair of Lucky Jeans and according to buckle.com, a retailer for lucky jeans the retail price is $99.00 that is a savings to me of $91.00.I am not the type to worry about name brands, but quality usually does cost more. If I can get a quality pair of jeans at a fraction on the price, I am glad to shop at the thrift store. I am thankful to the person that made the donation of the lucky jeans and they can benefit from that donation. According to the IRS webpage, IRS. Gov it explains that an individual can donate items like clothing, household furniture and furnishings, a car or boat, even taxidermy. The donations are appraised, by the donator, and recorded. At the time of filing taxes if the donation equals at least $500 for the year, the donator may take advantage of the
A. Soon after giving blood you will receive a copy of your blood type, in case you do not know it, in the mail.
“ Great shot Breanna, great shot” said a fan congratulating her on winning the game with a buzzer beater shot, with a second left to play. After the game was done, she went into the locker room to change and get ready to go home. Once she got finished changing she starting walking outside towards her car.
Speaker Credibility: My family has recycle for over the past 10 years. I believe it is something important that everyone should be apart of and do. Too many people are not recycling, which is harmful to the environment.
In an article written by Jared Fleisher “[The US] is home to 262 billionaires, ten times that of its nearest competitor, and an astounding 3.8 million of its households hold assets valued in the millions” (Fleisher). Though the number of billionaires in the U.S. is quite promising, the selfish pecunious are barely sacrificing much for their fellow Americans; some of those in poverty are the men and women who fight for our freedom and aren't getting much for their sacrifice. Approximately 3.5 million instances of homelessness occur per year and surprising to some Americans; more than half of the 3.5 are children. The children on the streets could find a home again if the rapacious wealthy could be humbled and use their “garbage” to clothe and provide for the indigent. In an article called “One Man’s Junk,” Li Wuzhou describes a path along the jingmi Canal that holds a place where the people in the area can go to collect garbage and reuse or repurpose these materials. “Various types of scrap are piled in rows scores of meters long: old furniture, old garments, old electric appliances, scrap paper, scrap metals, and plastic bottles” (Wuzhou). Here in Highland Park the materials that are thrown into the garbage can also be worth something to the less fortunate, but the torpid rich are too indolent to provide for the men
I am sure that everyone of you have heard about aliens and UFOs. Indeed, we all have heard about the famous case of aliens and UFOs in Roswell, New Mexico. Most people might be interested in the topic of aliens, but I know that the majority of you just think of it as rumours and the existence of them are impossible. Therefore, I am standing here in front all of you to make you change your perspective. I am strongly confident that I have found the evidence of their real existence to convince all of you.
B. Child abuse does not go away on its own, but 90 percent of child abuse is preventable.
An American literary theorist and novelist, Kenneth Burke, once said, “Wherever there is persuasion, there is rhetoric, and wherever there is rhetoric, there is meaning.” (Burke) Barack Obama, Martin Luther King Jr. and Fannie Lou Hamer all delivered powerful persuasive speeches that will go down in history. The use of these motivational individuals’ language and persuasion played a pivotal role within the civil rights movement, the movement that achieved the most important breakthrough in the equal rights legislation. We can observe this in the speakers’ rhetoric devices like ethos, logos and pathos.
Students at Palmyra Area High School should not be allowed to display information supporting the display of the Confederate Flag in the atrium. The flag is seen as a controversial symbol, and can allow disruption to happen throughout the school. Supporting the flag is seen as a something throughout heritage, however, the flag can also be seen as racist. Throughout school hours, the school has the privilege to monitor the student's free speech, attempting to make the school a place that all the students want to be.
The speech I listened to was from Ted.com and it was approximately ten minutes and thirty-eight seconds long. I realize it’s a little longer, but I really wanted to share it with the class. The speaker is Gill Hicks. It was taken at TedxSydney and was filmed in May of 2016.
We had just got back from ice cream express,Since we walked there from school, because it was sorta a special day it was Caledonia’s homecoming game! And after we got back we went down to the basement and started to play around, like with slime Bailey showed us some dance routines she did for church, and we made an American ninja warrior court. Then we went back up and got something from our bags, we ate a little bit of peanuts, just then I had a great idea I said... “let's go ding-dong-ditch Ky!” Bailey yelled “YES.” So Bailey went over and asked her mom, we were thrilled when she said yes.
"He has strengthened your Utopia for you as God instructed. He will grant you peace, safety, and prosperity. He comes to you from the throne of God with answers to all the problems of the world and to end all suffering. He has reminded you of Jesus' words and teachings and has taken the wonders of God and revealed them to you. Rejoice, for the Messenger of the Covenant has come to His temple. He was hidden in the shadow of the Lord's hand so that God could display His splendor. He is a messenger from God so that salvation would be possible for mankind. He has come to restore what was stained, Jew and Gentile. He comes to offer a pardon and the fullness of salvation for those weary. He is the hope of the world, the foundation of full and everlasting deliverance. He comes to proclaim freedom for the captives. You are the captive ones. Captive of the veil Satan has placed on your minds. He comes to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, to comfort all you who mourn. He is the living will of God. See how the sheep are separated from the goats. What greater a blessing could there be for you and your children? You need to be saved from the weeds that have choked the life from the seeds of salvation. You need to be saved from the traumatizing evil winds that have blown you into the mire. You need the fullness of what Jesus had sown, the completeness of salvation. It will be as if sparkling jewels entered your soul to shine forth from your pores, eyes, and mouth. I proclaim a
It’s been half a month since Connor killed himself. Believe it or not, I think the kids at school are starting to forget. Starting to move on, like some new movie release or concert tour outweighs the death of a fellow student. It’s kind of frustrating, you know? It’s hard to believe that something so relevant and big can be dropped so easily. I don’t think it’s right.
Life is a beautiful thing. However, it is not always easy. There will be difficulties and challenges along the way. There is no human being on earth who has not encounter struggles, suffering, or failure in life. Sometimes the challenges we experience can be the pathway to self realization. A wake up call that alter our own perspectives and outlook in life. These hardships test the courage, perseverance and true character of a human being. In the ted talk I have watched titled “3 things I learned as my plane crashed”, I am amazed by how brave the speaker was in facing life again. Ric Elias, speaker of the ted talk video, and a front row seater of flight 1549 had survived a plane crashed. Despite that, he still views life in a positive way and uses this unforgettable experience as a motivation to become a better person. He shared his experience in order to to enlighten the audience’s mind and persuade them to live life meaningfully and with a purpose.
What if you knew how much time you had left what would you do how would you act? To live longer they’d do anything. The poor grabbing at each other's throats, threatening, yelling, stealing each others time, we’d take another’s life to save our own. While the riches are drinking and governors are watching.
I never traveled on a flight before I boarded one for the USA. I used to ask everyone that did, what the experience was like. How it felt to be travelling through the clouds, how it felt to look down at the planet, tracts of lands, hills and mountains, forests and concrete. Many opined, it felt like travelling on a bus, hurtling down uneven roads. Some said, it was boring, more boring than it may seem or you may expect. You can’t move much, can’t take a walk if your knees ache. Sitting in the same position for long hours is never enjoyable, they said. Someone shared with me a more terrible fact—fluctuating air pressure may rupture one’s eardrums. So, I took unconfident steps onto the first aircraft of my life that took me to Doha, from where I boarded another flight to Boston. I tried to appear confident until I was asked to fasten the seatbelt. I looked around and tried to see how people did that but failed. I didn’t want to ask for my husband’s help—we were still new to each other and I had been consciously trying to maintain a confident and street-wise facade, which he later told me he never thought I was. My husband caught me struggling with the belt and waited for a few seconds just to make a how-can-one-be-so-stupid face while buckling up the seatbelt around my waist.
