“It is important for me to attend Bishop McNamara Catholic High School because….”
It is important for me to attend Bishop McNamara Catholic High School because I want the best possible education I can get in high school. I need to be prepared for college and Bishop McNamara is the school that I feel would best prepare me for my college years. Bishop McNamara is also my ideal school because of the Catholic education I will receive and is very appealing because of the small size, allowing more one-on-one with the teachers. I have achieved straight As all year at St. Anne Grade School. I work hard to turn in all my work on time even though I have a very busy schedule with sports and school activities, including softball, cheer
Three years ago I went to an International House of Prayer (IHOP) convention in Kansas City, KS and it changed my life. The experience involved three days of prayer, fellowship, worship, witnessing, and healing. Prophesying was taking place and I was there to witness it. The Holy Spirit was alive in that place and the energy was almost overwhelming. Miracles were happening all around me. Children were getting up out of their wheelchairs and walking. Some people were blind. Through prayer they could suddenly see. The weak became strong, and the broken became healed. I thought to myself “What a magnificent God”! That moment changed my perspective completely. The truth is, the power of God is in each of us Christians and the same God that was
in just the sophomore class due to stress, repugnance, or isolation. A copious amount of students at the school complain about stress and ridiculous rules. As a matter of fact, about 75 percent of students are disinterested with the school. The students believe that the school needs to progress in order to keep interest. Advancement in rules, a time for community every day, and the reduction in homework can significantly adjust a student’s perspective on school. Likewise, it illustrates how Christians should behave. To improve Northwest Christian School, one should make the lunchroom into a cafe before school, allow students to wear their school shirts any day of the week, and assign no homework on Wednesdays or weekends.
My academic drive and diligence as a student are manifested in my scholastic achievements. I was presented with the Most Outstanding Student Achievement Award when I graduated 8th grade from Mountain Home School. I currently have a grade point average of 4.0, which has been sustained throughout my years of high school thus far. Last year, as a sophomore, I received three Academic Achievement Awards for Religion, Chemistry, and Spanish 1. I also took three senior classes, and I was on the Principal’s List for every quarter. This year, I am taking two dual-credit classes and excelling in both. I believe that the main reasons I am a straight-A student are because I am self-disciplined, I have a strong work ethic, and I strive for academic excellence. Mediocrity is never an option for me.
England was one of the main contributors to the hatred of Irish Catholics in the America. This is clearly demonstrated as the Know-Nothing Party campaigned against Irish immigration and laws limiting their freedom analogous to British suppression. “... critics branded Irish as lazy, thieving, drunkards, poor material for either labor or citizenry.” This quote sounds very similar to how the British saw Irish Catholics, indicating where these nativists got their prejudices and bias from. Discrimination was evident on signs like, “No Irish Need Apply” hung on many employers’ windows.
Jesuit has been an educational challenge throughout the years I have attended the school. Jesuit is known as being one of the leading academic schools in the city of New Orleans. Before I arrived
There are all sorts of variations around this theme of being too poor to help. Most of us have had times in our lives when money was tight, and giving to the Lord was difficult and a real sacrifice. Invariably though, we can find enough for some of the other things that are not essential—it’s usually a matter of priority and whether we value what the Lord has done for us enough to make giving work.
Faith and reason have been a pillar of the Catholic Intellectual Tradition. This is within the 2000-year-old historical conversation that has and continues to encourage the Catholic community to ask fundamental questions focused on God, society, humanity, and nature based on faith tradition.
"It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not." This scripture represents the grace and mercy we all live under as believers. Many times throughout my life, weather looking back or trying to project forward. I realize that it is only by God’s Grace; that I am able to make it. And it is with this mindset, that I have the reasoning to want to attend Colorado Christian Univ. As a soon to be 35 year old man, I have seen a lot of life’s highs and lows. I was raised in a Christian home, by both my Mother and Father. I come from a long line of ministers my father pastored for 25 years in Denver, Co. at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, my brother is currently pastoring in Topeka, Ks. at Antioch Baptist church. So I am used to being
Over the course of decades, thousands of catholic priests and bishops sexually abused thousands of children. The Catholic Church attempted to cover up these incidents by re-positioning church leaders and has spent nearly 4 billion dollars over 65 years to redeem the church's name.
A catholic church is one of the most well known places of worship around the world. Specifically, Our Lady Of Victories church is a place where anyone can have and celebrate any sacraments. In contrast to St Paul’s Lutheran Church, they also offer to get baptised, married, etc.. Both churches believe in many things such as, God is the one and only creator of everything, they also believe and how what God guides them to do in life. Lutheran worshippers believe that the Bible is one of the most important sources of religious teaching and aspirations. Along with Catholic worshippers, they believe in such things as following the Ten Commandments and also if you follow in the word of God, your life will become a common practice to act the way as
When I went into Grade 9 religion, I thought that it was going to be one of the most useless and boring courses that I took as religion is not significant in my life. About a quarter in to the semester, I was surprised when I realized that I actually enjoyed going to religion class every day. The heated discussions about controversial topics, the interesting lessons and the captivating movies were all responsible for the best hour and fifteen minutes of my weekdays. I was raised by parents who didn’t believe in any religion, but they never forced their belief on me. Until a year ago, I was completely uneducated about the Catholic faith. However, I learned a lot about Catholicism during religion class. That’s when I realized that just because
This curriculum is designed to familiarize church members with leaders of the Protestant Reformation who sought to reform the church, by promoting religious, intellectual, political and cultural upheaval that splintered the Catholic Church, setting in place structures and beliefs that would define the Church in the modern era. The decline and corruption of the papacy convinced many thoughtful Christians that the teachings of the church had gone astray, therefore, reformers like Luther, Calvin, Wesley and others sought to reform the old church from within, while others lost all hope for suck reformation, and openly broke with the papacy.
Catholic beliefs are a major value in my family that will all cherish and look up to. To gain the happiness of heaven we must know, love, and serve God in this world. I always value a supervisor or any authority figure, mainly because we have so much to learn and grow from them. They guide us to the right things in life and certain decision’s. Media has the power to influence our values. Media helps in so many ways for us to make the right decisions. My school values have taught me to explore and expand my interest, reach my fullest potential and to develop the skills that I need in this
Catholic schools enjoy the reputation of providing an excellent education in all core subjects while also educating students in their faith and in the Gospel values. Furthermore, Catholic schools seek to serve all students, regardless of financial circumstances or cultural background. However, this recognition and stature did not come easily. The success of the Catholic school system is the product of the ongoing efforts of the leaders in the field. Beginning with the missionaries in the New World and continuing through today, Catholic educators have overcome great odds.
My Catholic education has been a huge part of my life. There are so many things St. Cecilia has taught me through the nine years I have been there. My Catholic education helps me to learn about my faith. It also helps me to grow closer to God and develop a stronger personal relationship with him. It also allows me to express myself by serving others.
