College Preparations As I approach the end of my high school career, I start thinking if I am prepared and ready to face the next step in my life. College is known to test a man’s responsibility in order to prepare him to face the world alone. Jesuit High School has changed my life throughout the years I have attended the school. Jesuit has prepared me for college and taught me how to become a more responsible man. When I was thinking of where I should apply to high school, Jesuit was not my first option; however, coming from a family of Jesuit alumni, I knew it was the only school for me. Throughout my earlier years at Jesuit, I struggled and was miserable due to the overwhelming work and rules I was required to follow. However, I soon realized what the school was about in its mission in turning its students into men for others. I have found that Jesuit High School has transformed me educationally, has made me a more responsible man, and has taught me to be a man for others. Jesuit has been an educational challenge throughout the years I have attended the school. Jesuit is known as being one of the leading academic schools in the city of New Orleans. Jesuit teaches their students to be respectful, and also makes them participate in many activities helping those in need. For example, activities such as the Thanksgiving drive, community service activities, and the mission drive, are all events that put the less fortunate before Jesuit students. One of my most memorable experiences at Jesuit is when I went to deliver food baskets, to the less fortunate, for the Thanksgiving drive. Delivering the baskets was an amazing experience and made me thankful for the many things I am blessed with. Jesuit also encouraged me to join a parish CYO group in which we do voluntary work serving others. Jesuit goes the extra mile in order to transform its students into respectful young
My greatest desire is to not only receive an outstanding technical education but also grow as a conscientious and socially responsible individual. In the next four years, I envision myself in an environment that fosters a genuine sense of family among motivated peers. I want to belong to a school where I can development in my character as well as my Catholic faith, even in the midst of rigorous academic work. I look
I believe that Northwest Catholic High School will be beneficial to me. I will develop interpersonal skills, emotional resilience, and have diverse experiences. I feel that these skills will pave the way to my goal of attending UCONN, UCLA, or Walden University in Minnesota. I know that Northwest has teachers and staff who will help me boost my self-esteem and confidence levels. By attending NWC, I will achieve a keen and steadfast mindset, and grow in my future profession as a counselor. I am persuaded that I will reach absolute educational greatness at Northwest Catholic High
The mission of Siena Heights University, a Catholic University founded and sponsored by the Adrian Dominican Sisters, is to assist people to become more competent, purposeful, and ethical through a teaching and learning environment which respects the dignity of all (Mission and vision, n.d.).
Our task is to choose two Jesuit secondary schools and to learn about their approach to the Jesuit teachings and beliefs. The first school, Fordham Preparatory School, is located in the United States. The second school Loyola High School is located in Canada. These schools wouldn 't be here today if it wasn 't for St. Ignatius of Loyola and his creation of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) in 1540. We will explain the dual purpose of Jesuit education and how both schools incorporate it, the history and general information of both schools, how they compare to Fairfield Prep, and how both schools show compassion.
After years of hard work in high school, I have prepared myself for the final milestones in achieving adulthood. The key to any great success is extreme preparation, be it in athletics, academics, or personal growth. Duquesne University is an obvious choice for me, as it not only has the vast resources to achieve educational success but also has the academic programs which interest me. Duquesne University will also align me with the core values that any young adult would want to pursue and ultimately achieve. Duquesne University’s values and beliefs are built on Catholic principles, which guide me to consider, my body, mind, and soul.
Ever since I was six years old, the year I was baptized, I have been on fire for the Lord. I attended a Christian school for eight years and have always been very involved at my church. My first experience outside of my “Christian bubble” was when I went to a public high school. For the first time in my life, I was out of my comfort zone. Being at a public school challenged my faith, strengthened my leadership skills, and forced me to branch out and meet people I would have never encountered otherwise. However, even though being at a public school helped strengthen my faith in ways I would have never guessed, I believe attending a Christian university—like Liberty—is the best choice to further my education. Going to college is new and exciting, but it can also be a demanding and intimidating experience. Being so far away from home, in a different environment,
My name is Asia Harvey. I am eighteen years old. I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. I am a freshman in college majoring in communications. Worldview to me means how everyone in the world interprets reality. I believe everyone has a worldview and it is influenced by our ethics, morals, and family values. It can also be influenced by what we hear, what we read, what we see or who we associate with. Worldview is mostly influenced by religion and science even though, a worldview can and do change. I believe the Christian worldview deals with the belief in the Bible. It leads me to believe that God created the universe in six days and on the last day he rested and that I am God's creation put on earth to fellowship with him and govern
Attending my Catholic school is a gift as well as a privilege and I have gratitude for the opportunity. Because I see my school as a gift, I have academic goals and put 100% effort into them. An academic goal that I have is to work hard for superior grades while continuing to become proficient with educational skills such as writing, reading, oral and written communication, science, and mathematics. Additionally, I plan to continue to get to know myself and to learn about possible careers that might interest me. A career that I am currently interested in involves the fields of dentistry and surgery. Plus at my school, we learn about personal responsibility and personal initiative in our morals and behaviors. Another goal is that I want to
In today’s extremely competitive, job-scarce economy, having a college degree is now a steadfast requirement when applying to even entry-level professional jobs. Choosing a college has always been a challenging task for high school seniors, but it is now fraught with stress and anxiety for nearly every adult who seeks to further their education. Questions abound: what school offers the exact program I desire? What school is in the best location, or has the best campus? What school feels ‘right’?
None of us were expected to do anything great in life - or so we thought until we met our middle school teacher, Ms. Livingston, notorious for assigning “mountains” of homework. Despite the limited resources available, she pushed her students to strive for excellence. Ms. Livingston picked a handful of her top students including me to mentor. She made us apply to private schools, helped with test and interview preparation and guided us throughout the process. After months of hard work, I was accepted into Friends Seminary, one of the most rigorous private schools in Manhattan..
It is important for me to attend Bishop McNamara Catholic High School because I want the best possible education I can get in high school. I need to be prepared for college and Bishop McNamara is the school that I feel would best prepare me for my college years. Bishop McNamara is also my ideal school because of the Catholic education I will receive and is very appealing because of the small size, allowing more one-on-one with the teachers.
My desire to work in the Catholic School system stems primarily from the ability to share my faith openly in such an environment, however, the Catholic School’s focus on the growth of the whole person, spiritual and academic and its commitment to service in the community and the world are also very important to me.
Earning my undergraduate degree from Seattle University has opened a lot of doors and has expanded my ability to reflect on my life, my intellectual progress and my purpose to find direction. My persistence and determination to advance my education is to increase my knowledge, to become a successful leader and to enhance my contribution to society. In order for me to have a true academic rigor, I believe having the integrity of the Jesuit teaching could help me understand and guide me through the process. I have always found a personal and a professional sense of purpose from a Jesuit tradition.
As I take this chance to reflect, I discovered a truth, the sky is the limit. During my years at St. Luke, I have developed as a student, an athlete, and as a member of the Catholic Church. I believe that everyone brings something special gift to the world, and I believe my gift is that of determination to become a great man through faith and education. I have been an alter server for about two years. Being an alter server has brought me closer to God and my Catholic community. Education has been a big part of my life. I can truly say I am grateful for the opportunity I have had to attend St. Luke. After St. Luke, my plans are to use my education and become prepared to take on the challenges and rewards of high school.
I think that St. Francis is a much harder school than Jesuit. St.Francis teacher's, hand out a heavier load of homework than Jesuit teachers do. When the Troubies get together and work on academics they mix individual study with collaboration. Working together makes it all so much more fun. This isn’t surprising but it is an important point. When asked about their studies Amber said “I know that I will be prepared much better for college.” “Some students complain but I think working hard is much more important than having lots of downtime.” Some teachers at St. Francis suggest that girls should offer to tutor their male friends it is an idea that has some merit but it hasn’t been too popular among the busy stressed students. No matter what
