The participative decision-making approach is “involving staff either formally or informally, directly or indirectly, in the decision process” (Leewis, 2014, p. 155). The SCI Alberta management structure is very similar to participative decision making (PDM) approach. There is participation or inputs from the clients, staff, leadership team, and boards of directors before a decision is made. For example, during they design strategic plan, first data collected through the consultation sessions held with the board of directors and staff members. One of my primary interests in this program is the opportunity that gives us the opportunity to work with members of the community that no longer have insurance coverage to fulfill their physical therapy needs. In my opinion, this allows us the unique chance to have a positive impact on the people around us that would otherwise go without care. I have made a personal commitment to give back to the community and to extend a hand up to those in need, that
One of my first questions to Amber Dujay, my liaison and the volunteer coordinator was: what does CNIB stand for? I intended for this question to be interpreted as a request for the meaning of the acronym, as well as an inquiry into the values and mission of CNIB. The Canadian National Institute for the Blind is a non-profit, community-based organization that prefers to be known as their acronym for two reasons: the first is their intentions to distance themselves from the negative connotations of the word ‘institute’, which on its own presents problematic associations with restriction and “being locked up” (A. Dujay, personal communication, 9 February 2017). Secondly, the word ‘blind’ is misleading and does not encompass the scope of the populations

Decision-making in the workforce is a process of responsibilities used by upper management to implement, enforce rules, regulations, and maintain a successful environment. Decision-making implemented more effectively by making a plan, thinking it through, accepting more than one opinion and determining what is best. However, decision-making often utilized more effectively by opening doors of opportunities for a suggestion, question, discussion, and feedback. Although, more involvement helps improve understanding, utilize behavior skills and present opportunities for better communication. Everyday life consists of decision-making, the right decision may not always be applied, but ensure room for improvement and opportunity. Individuals approached decision-making in many different ways. As stated by (Jones, Graham, & Bateman, 2006) decision making is a procedure used to recognize a problem, weigh the alternatives and evaluate a solution in which, certain situations will require different approaches to become effective.

It is a joy to work for a company who takes care of their client’s needs. They go above and beyond their way to make sure that the kids are comfortable and well taken care of. I have always had a heart for service especially for the underprivileged. I used to go on medical missions with doctors in the Philippines to educate people of the benefits of physical therapy and working at this facility has helped me in a way to continue serving the disadvantaged
