When growing up, most kids want to be a doctor, a rockstar, or in Rebecca’s case-a vet. But, when junior year of high school came around, Rebecca reevaluated her plans, like many do. This time Rebecca decided to follow a career in physical therapy. She figured this way she could get a bachelor’s degree, get a job, then go back to school. Since then, Rebecca has fallen in love with athletic training and all it’s aspects. She is now in her final year here at Michigan State University.

When asked to reflect on her years here at MSU, Rebecca describes her time working with Michigan State football, baseball, and gymnastic team, as well as Haslett High School. She described working with football as “a lot of fun to travel and talk to the players, but there was a lot of pressure and long hours. I want to have a family someday, so it’d be difficult.” She then went on to talk about how different the high school setting was. Rebecca said, “the kids were fun, but you can’t do as much since they are minors.” But, she said that Michigan State has prepared her well for different settings. She expresses that “I still have a lot to learn, but it is a solid program, and the staff is super great at mentoring and being there for students. I was comfortable asking any my classmates or member of the staff any question I had.” When I asked Rebecca to reflect on her biggest challenge while here at MSU, she again brought up being able to talk to her mentors and peers.
