April 23, 2015 Business Model and Strategic Plan Part III: Balanced Scorecard and Communication Plan The new Walt-Mart division’s vision and mission “make everything a customer wants to buy universally available, accessible, and socially active” is possible with a proper strategic plan.
With a balanced scorecard and an adequate communication plan, the proposed strategies will result in successful implementation.

Customer Objectives It is crucial to the vitality of the new division for the Walmart brand be viewed as what the customer expects. Customers are the company and the objectives match their importance. Evaluating market share offers insight to the position of the company. Increase in segment sales such as apparel, home, hardliners, health & wellness, entertainments, and groceries after the new division implementation is a result of success in market share (Soni, 2015). Evaluating customer feedback using the research company Customer Service Scoreboard provides a way to measure the promised vision, mission, and appreciation (CustomerServiceScoreboard.com, 2015). In the competitive market where corporations vie for customers, customer satisfaction is an integral element of the organizational business strategy. Wal-Mart customers’ satisfaction ratings have powerful effects on the organization’s bottom line. If Wal-Mart’s customer satisfaction rate drops, this tells the organization that there are problems in areas of the organization that affects the customer satisfaction rating. Wal-Mart will have to correct these problems to ensure the organization customer satisfaction rate improves. A drop in satisfaction ratings for the organization affects sales and profit. Wal-Mart always ensures that their customer satisfaction rating is high enough to keep current customers and to attract new customers. Cambridge Behavioral Hospital currently uses a Change Theory. Strategy for most organizations is about change and focus. A firm strategy starts with knowing the external and internal forces that impact the organization’s ability to achieve its most important goals, and then steadily making the necessary changes to direct those forces. “A validation (or invalidation) of the strategic assumptions reinvigorates strategic thinking and provides a basis for investigating whether to change the strategy” (Swayne, Duncan & Ginter, 2008).
Strategic planning can dictate the success of any organization if properly planned as well as the failure of an organization if not implemented as planned. Strategic planning is all about making choices. It is a process designed to support leaders in being intentional about their goals and methods. Simply stated, strategic planning is a management tool, and like any management tool, it is used for one purpose only—to help an organization do a better job. WalMart's (NYSE:WMT) expertise in discount retailing is globally recognized, as is their supply chain and extensive logistics capabilities. What differentiates WalMart from the many other discount retailers is their extensive reliance on buyer personas or representations of their customers. All aspects of the WalMart value chain are predicated on serving their customers as cost-effectively and efficiently as possible. WalMart has also created an extensive information systems network that includes satellite uploads of data on a daily basis from their thousands of retail locations to their Bentonville, Arkansas headquarters (WalMart Investor Relations, 2013). Our world is constantly in flux and change is a permanent feature of the environment for workers as well as organizations. Rapidly changing technological capabilities as well as advances have radically changed the nature of work and communication over the last 150 years. The average office or retail clerk would find many of the changes in how business is conducted from the early 20th century to today almost incomprehensible. Furthermore, rapid cultural changes and expectations have also changed how we interact and what our expectations are. In order for organizations to remain relevant in today’s business environment they must be able to adapt quickly to the changing needs of their customers as well as identify and implement appropriate technological advances to the their business strategy and model. Accomplishing these changes effectively requires that organizations implement these changes in a manner that achieves employee or associate, buy in and support. Walmart is currently in the midst of a major roll out of new technology, as well as significant process changes. These changes are in response to technological advances, and customer expectations. Successful implementation of these programs will improve the company’s position relative to competitors as well as in the eyes of consumers.
