Communication with professors, classmates, and faculty within a college program is vital, mainly because students have many questions and need answers as soon as possible. The Bachelors of Social Work (BSW) program at East Tennessee State University (ETSU) while great, has some communication flaws for both sides: student and faculty. Also, many of the classes offered are only hybrid or online classes; this puts a damper on communication because it eliminates time for face to face communication. Toth said in a post-implementation of hybrid degree program study, "when multiple hybrid courses are linked, the hybrid degree program has the potential to accommodate the needs of today's students by offering instruction that is accessible and flexible"
My main reason for applying to the Simmons School of Social Work is that it is an accredited university with an excellent reputation as an educational institution and offers an MSW program that is predominantly online. I attended Thomas Edison State University online and earned my bachelor’s degree with a GPA of 3.9. Once I made the decision to continue my education, I searched for MSW programs that were available online with CSWE accreditation in compliance with New Jersey State social work licensure. I found that Simmons’s specialized program in clinical social work is well suited for my educational needs.

As college students, we as students must have a fierce ambition to accomplish a balance between a healthy, steady social life and a bright academic future. Communication is an important tool in life, not just inside college that broadens our horizons and makes us more intelligent generally.
I have talked with both of you over the past 24-hours regarding communication between the three of us, and it appears there are some shared concerns present.
I am interested in the Master of Social Work program with Walden University because I have always had an interest in the various aspects and components of the profession. I am interested the opportunities that a job in human services and helping profession will allow. A social work degree is accepted for a mass variety of careers and organizations. I have researched a multitude of programs that focus on Master of Social Work. After a lot of consideration Walden has my number one choice due to its accreditation with the Council of Social Work Education, and the option to study online. The accreditation that is offered through Walden is accepted in my home state of Alabama. Being able to study online was a major influence on my decision because I am a full-time working mother. Time is valuable and Walden’s flexibility allows me to further my education.
Perhaps, the biggest concern among Miami Dade College students is the lack of consistency and uniformity in the student services the center provides, like Financial Aid, Advisement and Admission Services. Students report that this existing division is preventing them from making decisions on time and achieving their goals. Even though new students are required to meet with an advisor right after admission, they do not always find help. Only a small number of these students report having their IEP created by an advisor in the institution. Many of them have to resort to the institutions where they plan to transfer after completing their degree, or rely on the experience of their friends to map out a plan of study. As the result of miscommunication, students often have to come
BFDC shows one communication weakness during difficult times when uncomfortable feelings are caused by the parent because of the tone that is shared in a conversation. BFDC need to reflect on what might have occurred for a parent to feel a certain way and develop a different way of communicating between one another. Another communication weakness is not accepting all the opinions and values about children from Bright from the Start and QR. BFDC needs to recognize that change is good by acknowledging and respecting their perspective of seeing things different. The third communication weakness is when BFDC feels hesitant on approaching a parent because of their non-verbal communication. BFDC needs to make sure that they are mindful of how their nonverbal communication is perceived and to be aware of their tone of voice and the way they cross their arms when talking to parents. “People may express meaning with affect displays by using facial expressions to communicate disgust, hostility, or joy” (Waldeck, Kearney, and Plax, p.39).
Brian Watson talks about the communication problems that Information Technology professionals have to deal with in his article named, “Failure to Communicate”. Watson also presents his ideas on the communication skills of chief information officers (CIO) of companies and he mentions that there are several intrinsic obstacles in the quest of a CIO to become a better communicator. The author also goes on to say that most CIO’s have career paths that are not built on strong communication skills. He then suggests that CIO’s should think of innovative ways to mingle with their team and pay attention to the communication problems troubling their bosses.
I intend to earn my Bachelor's and Master's of Social Work so I can pursue a career in clinical private practice with the elderly. In addition, I will double minor in gerontology and sociology to further prepare me for my future career. Because of my credits from high school and work ethic, I will be able to graduate with my Bachelor’s in just three years, which will result in significant savings of college expenses. Due to my past experiences with bullying in which my supposed good friends over a three-year period, I always knew I wanted to work in the social work field. Since Rhode Island College has one of the top social work programs in the country, I was sure this school would be a great fit for me.
I have grown as a student in the area of skills for academic success. Before this semester I couldn’t make a phone call speaking in Chinese. I couldn’t say what I wanted. I didn't know how to greet them when answering the phone. I couldn’t tell them why I was calling and I wasn’t able to communicate with them. I wasn’t able to tell them when we could hang out. Now I can call someone and speak Chinese. I can communicate with them. I can now tell them why I'm calling. I get to tell the person I could make a plan with them that we could both attend. I can ask if they are home if not I would ask when would they be home. My skills for academic success is evidence of my growth. It is a phone call that we make, but no only any phone call. It is

There is a significant difference between my perception of communication at the beginning of this course compared to now. Initially, I was aware communication was an important skill people needed to have, but I wasn’t fully aware of the depth of communication. I never realized there were such a variety of behaviors and characteristics that impacted the ability for people to communicate effectively. Once I started completing the self-assessments my perspective was broaden and I gained helpful insight into my own communication strengths and weaknesses. With each self-assessment I truly felt I was getting to know myself better.
Is anyone wrong in this situation? By what other means could Randell have requested the information from Tom Ballard? What do you think of Tom Ballard’s reaction? Why?
