Psy 270 Week 4 Communication Analysis

To all,

I have talked with both of you over the past 24-hours regarding communication between the three of us, and it appears there are some shared concerns present.

First and foremost, I think it is safe to say we have been doing great work this semester so far. We have a great staff to work with, and little conflict between members. Our stories so far have been top-notch, and I expect the next few weeks will produce pieces of similar quality. I look forward to wrapping out the year with both of you.

Yet there has been one issue which has been a thorn in our side this semester: communication. While we certainly are not isolated from each other, everyone seems to agree there is a problem which needs to be addressed. It is like we are all …show more content…

Changes can come out of nowhere and, to be honest, this makes us unable to better serve our staff and our show. In talking with Adam earlier this morning, I made note of changes to the show regarding the Final Four. While I am perfectly fine with the addition of extra stories to better fit our audience, I feel any additions and changes should have been discussed between the three of us prior to Wednesday’s class. Stephanie and I should have been leading the charge on what should and should not be added, and instead it was a decision primarily left to Adam. This does not train us in understanding how to plan a news program.

From Adam’s perspective, Stephanie and I are not taking a significant charge in leading meetings. Rather than proposing new ideas to keep up with what is going on, we are sticking by what is on the story list. This puts Adam in an awkward position because instead of guiding the show from behind, he has to drag the show to the final destination. His job is to assist the producers, but instead the producers have taken a back seat towards addressing issues and planning out a show.
