In Buzz Bissinger's article, Caitlyn Jenner: The Full Story, Bissinger interviews an iconic American Olympian who shocked many people when she came out as a transgender woman. This article is a prime example of the issues we face around gender today, both from people who identify as cisgender and those who are outside the gender binary.

I understand that beauty is in the eye of the beholder; however, in my opinion, Bruce Jenner looks like Hilary Farr from a distance and up close he looks like a client on the television show botched. As for Serena Williams, I think that she is a very attractive woman, but her body builder like features ruin her overall sex appeal. Aili also introduces the show of the reality star. Jenner’s momentous journey. Jenner’s family reaction to the life-changing physical alterations were positive and agree to the decision to what makes him happy. It was also stated in the article that Jenner is now happy with his self and ready to come out to the world.

In a lot of places around the world more and more people are coming out as “Transgender.” The term transgender means that the person’s gender identity does not correspond with the gender they were assigned as having at birth. From personally having a transgender boyfriend I have since realized that these people experience a lot of discrimination in and from society. Many people simply just do not understand what the term transgender means and they see it as someone just “wants to be a man” or “wants to be a woman.” While there may be people who present it this way, it is more so that the individual just “feels” different, and “feels” as if they are “in the wrong body.” Some people experience this feeling at a young age as my boyfriend did in his elementary age. We live in a world who put these people down for being who they truly are, and no human being wants or needs that.

An Olympic champion to the public, but behind closed doors, he enjoyed cross-dressing and created plans to transform into a woman. Miserably living a lie for the majority of his life accepting awards and titles that were not befitting. Jenner kept his secret taboo because of the lack of support and acceptance of Transgenders (relating to a person who does not conform to societal gender norms or roles) in the late 1970 's. The most I’ve seen about this topic was what I would see in movies and TV shows. I realized that this topic is only now somewhat becoming more accepting to society. Those individuals of older generations find this topic and this transformation to be completely wrong. The problem with transgender rights is that they are not treated as basic human rights. The main cause of this problem is that some people look at it as "not in the norm" or "out of the ordinary" and as a result, transgender people are either out casted, bullied, beaten, killed or denied certain rights. A human male wanting to transition into a human female and vice versa should not make them less than exactly what they are, a human-being. A possible solution would be for people to take the time to research and educate or interact with more transgender people and learn something about their decision instead of going into the problem blind with the assumption that all transgender people are not normal.
