On June 1st, 2015, Bruce Jenner announced that he would now be known as Caitlyn Jenner, a woman. She said, “I'm so happy after such a long struggle to be living my true self. Welcome to the world, Caitlyn. Can't wait for you to get to know her/me” (“Caitlyn Jenner Biography.com”). That day, the world changed forever. When Bruce changed into Caitlyn, a large controversy arose. The debate on the right to become transgender is still discussed from two years ago when Bruce became Caitlyn. The reason behind why Caitlin's story turned into a big discussion is because when Caitlyn was a male, he was a famous athlete married to Kris Jenner. The transition was so unexpected and inspirational to a lot of people followed after her. The supporting argument …show more content…
Young adults are making these decisions to become transgender (Rivas, Jorge). As noted in one article, “There are two genders, male and female, and confusion between the two should not be encouraged” (“Transgender Rights: Should federal...”). For example, If a girl likes a boy’s shirt, she might believe she is supposed to be a guy due to the fact it is so common to have those feelings, and because of this, it is easy to get feelings and ideas confused. Teenagers are still maturing into adults and they need guidance. If people think their mind is in the wrong body, there might be a chain reaction of everyone thinking they were born wrong and with the media being a pig part of the twenty-first century, it has taken over everything, even people’s minds. Information spreads very quickly now and if a new norm is to become the opposite sex, a lot of people will be influenced. Media is extremely powerful, and it can convince people that they are too fat, skinny, ugly, or that they wear too much makeup. The media is now making people question if they were born in the wrong body or not. As said in the article, “is transgender morally wrong”, “...The media has made people think that they are in the wrong bodies. The human body is magnificent and beautiful. It is wrong to change your sex because of thoughts that have been influenced by the media. We will no longer be a part of nature, …show more content…
Just because it’s not right doesn't mean there is a perfect solution for it. People can’t dictate how other people feel. Since there are so many rebuttals for every argument on either side, it can be difficult to resolve. The only resolution is to get used to it. As people learn, hear, and observe things around them constantly, it becomes normal to them. Since there are more and more people becoming transgender, people are getting more used to the idea. Hopefully, that will not influence other people to become transgender. Said by Emma Green, “As more Americans learn about what it means to be transgender or meet people who identify that way, it’s possible they’ll become more comfortable with the idea of transgender people using the bathroom that corresponds with their current gender identity.” Although there will be a lot of stubborn people not willing to get used to it, maybe the fact that no matter how hard someone tries, they can't change their sex. The sex of someone is in their genes, XX for females, and XY for males. Someone can get surgery and appear like a female or male, but if you were born a female, it’s impossible to change your sex (Ritchie, John). People on Debate.org say, “Everybody should feel happy and whether that is being transgender or not, who cares! Let them live their life in happiness and peace without having people against them” (“should-we-support-transgender-equality-in-schools”). Everyone wants to
After finalizing the divorce of him and Kris Jenner in early 2015, a 20/20 interview with Diane Sawyer came out in April of 2015, releasing the news that Bruce came out as a transgender woman. Caitlyn said that she had dealt with gender dysphoria since her youth and that, she cross dressed for many years and also took hormone replacement therapy, but stopped after her relationship with Kris Jenner in the early 1990s became more serious. Caitlyn recounts having permission to explore her gender identity on her own from Kris, but because of not knowing the best way to talk about the issues they faced about this situation of wanting to become a woman, it lead to the deterioration of the 23-year-long
In Buzz Bissinger's article, Caitlyn Jenner: The Full Story, Bissinger interviews an iconic American Olympian who shocked many people when she came out as a transgender woman. This article is a prime example of the issues we face around gender today, both from people who identify as cisgender and those who are outside the gender binary.
I understand that beauty is in the eye of the beholder; however, in my opinion, Bruce Jenner looks like Hilary Farr from a distance and up close he looks like a client on the television show botched. As for Serena Williams, I think that she is a very attractive woman, but her body builder like features ruin her overall sex appeal. DL Hughley stated in his interview on “The View” that he also did not see Caitlyn Jenner as attractive, and then compared him to Laverne Cox by saying she went all out and Caitlyn gave up in the process. I completely agree with DL Hughley because the fact is Bruce Jenner has not completed his transformation, and is debating on if he should finish it. I have nothing against LGBT people, but as long as Bruce Jenner
by Sarah Lyall and Jacob Bernstein both writing for The New York Post, is a noteworthy look at the transition of Bruce Jenner to Caitlyn Jenner. The journalists Sarah Lyall and Jacob Bernstein wrote this piece to illustrate the peculiar life of Bruce Jenner, from his sports accolades in the 70's thru his bazaar marriage to Kris Kardashian and her bazaar lifestyle, and his subsequent coming out as a Trans woman. Although Lyall and Bernstein wrote this for the New York Times in February of 2015, Lyall and Bernstein indicated in their piece that Jenner’s transformation was unfolding before our very eyes since his days as a professional
Cait Jenner is making it her mission to have a voice for people all over the world who are struggling to be their real self. Just recently, Cait rushed to be by the side of a family who had a young boy struggling with his own process. She had to change cars 3 times to avoid the paparazzi, and often hiding down in the seats to keep from having her picture snapped. Cait’s photos could easily pull in $250,000 to the paparazzi with the best photos. Cait explained how she hopes that her story and being in the public eye will help other people, and their families accept the changes that are or taking place in their life. It is important that other people realize that they are not alone in the journey. Jenner is on a mission to share and be the Universal
Drug trafficking, a multi-billion dollar global business, is of growing concern to almost all countries around the world. To be specific, it has been a concern to all governments, as part of their job is the protection of the citizens. With the interference of drugs, it is not helping because it leads to many diseases, crimes and the death of many people. Drug trafficking is mainly the global illicit trade involving the cultivation, manufacture, distribution and sale of substances which are subject to drug prohibition laws; and illegal drug trade which is considered a global black market.
Caitlyn Jenner, once known as Bruce Jenner, went through gender reassignment surgery to finally become who she has always felt she was inside. Society – although infatuated with the transition of Bruce into Caitlyn – has given mixed feelings toward her. Introduced as Caitlyn, she became the center of attention after her announcement of being transgender in April 2015; despite the fact that Caitlyn has been the recipient of many degrading comments, those who admire her have made some very uplifting remarks about her controversial choice. These people have gone against societal judgements and have supported her throughout her transformation from Bruce to Caitlyn. Caitlyn Jenner’s situation connects to a common theme found in both Whitman and

In a lot of places around the world more and more people are coming out as “Transgender.” The term transgender means that the person’s gender identity does not correspond with the gender they were assigned as having at birth. From personally having a transgender boyfriend I have since realized that these people experience a lot of discrimination in and from society. Many people simply just do not understand what the term transgender means and they see it as someone just “wants to be a man” or “wants to be a woman.” While there may be people who present it this way, it is more so that the individual just “feels” different, and “feels” as if they are “in the wrong body.” Some people experience this feeling at a young age as my boyfriend did in his elementary age. We live in a world who put these people down for being who they truly are, and no human being wants or needs that.
Throughout history, Bruce Jenner remained one of the greatest athletes in the 1970 's. Notable for being “a man’s man”. An Olympic champion to the public, but behind closed doors, he enjoyed cross-dressing and created plans to transform into a woman. Miserably living a lie for the majority of his life accepting awards and titles that were not befitting. Jenner kept his secret taboo because of the lack of support and acceptance of Transgenders (relating to a person who does not conform to societal gender norms or roles) in the late 1970 's. Three marriages, and six children later, Bruce Jenner, now “Caitlyn Jenner” has publicly come forth and announced his deepest secret.
The most I’ve seen about this topic was what I would see in movies and TV shows. I realized that this topic is only now somewhat becoming more accepting to society. Those individuals of older generations find this topic and this transformation to be completely wrong. I haven’t spoken to my parents about this topic but know them they would find this to be unholy and unnatural. They grew up in a different generation and in a different country. I hear about transgender and homosexuality being here in the United States but when I go back to my home country, Egypt, it is as if this is a nonexistent topic. Everyone is different and everyone has his or her own personal views on such
Caitlyn Jenner is formally known as Bruce Jenner and is recognised as a famous athlete and father figure to the Kardashian girls. A few months after the separation between Kris and Bruce Jenner in June 2013, rumours hit news headlines regarding the gender transition for Bruce. After watching the two hour Kardashian TV special, viewers became exposed to the inner conflict Bruce Jenner was subject to throughout his life as a male feeling out of place. Caitlyn Jenner's introduction to 'break the Internet' is considered socially heroic. Caitlyn is social media's newest and most famous idol, especially for young people going through similar predicaments of a transgender debate. Caitlyn Jenner isn’t recognised by society as a positive leader with regards to her personality traits or qualities such as charity work, but instead for the confidence and bravery which she displayed when introducing herself as a woman after being associated as an ‘alpha male.’ Huffington Post published an article that acknowledges the daily discrimination, bullying and ostracizing that transgenders go though. The article also discusses the positive example that Caitlyn Jenner has set for others, but also urges readers to ‘remind ourselves that validity as a female should not depend on, for lack of a better word, hotness.’ The author explains the challenges faced by Bruce Jenner in his financial position, to
From my opinion transgender individuals should go to the washroom of the gender they were born with, it is reasonable where originally they had the opposite gender of what they have right now and there shouldn’t be any problem on going to the washroom that they used to go to before they changed gender. Some people also are opposed and some are uncomfortable to transgender individuals going to the opposite washroom of their birth gender things could get worse, like when a transgender goes to the men’s washroom and someone who doesn’t like transgenders going to the washroom of the opposite gender they used to have could get physical and could hurt them. Instead they should just go to
Jenner is going through the process of changing her body.”Jenner’s public shift from a male gender identity to a female one became a cultural touchstone”. She doesn’t care about what people thought about her and how she is happy in her life. She doesn’t let people’s opinion of her change who she wants to be. Jenner is trying to find her role in life. Jenner expressed herself and didn’t care about what people thought of her. She questions herself a lot through the process of her change but came to a conclusion that people should be happy with themselves.People can’t be happy in live pretending to be someone else that they are not. Jenner came out with her own tv show to show the real Caitlyn Jenner. “I Am Cait, a reality series documenting her transition” (Caitlyn Jenner).Jenner isn’t afraid to show her true self on T.V. She knows that there are going to be haters that don’t approve of what she is doing to herself, but she doesn’t let that stop her from being herself. Caitlyn Jenner is a great example that people should never waste their life being something/someone they are not. She changed for herself and not for other people, even though she knows that people are going to start looking at her differently
The problem with transgender rights is that they are not treated as basic human rights. The main cause of this problem is that some people look at it as "not in the norm" or "out of the ordinary" and as a result, transgender people are either out casted, bullied, beaten, killed or denied certain rights. A human male wanting to transition into a human female and vice versa should not make them less than exactly what they are, a human-being. A possible solution would be for people to take the time to research and educate or interact with more transgender people and learn something about their decision instead of going into the problem blind with the assumption that all transgender people are not normal.
