It's easy for people to hate what they don't understand. Imagine if you were learning how to play the guitar, and no matter how many times you practice and study the right chords, you just can't seem to grasp the concept, and there is nothing wrong with that. Plenty of people happen to have this mindset when it comes to transgender people. There is this constant debate concerning transgender men and women and their rights. In some cases, they are expected to abide by certain requirements in order to full change their gender and aren't granted the right to use the bathroom based on their gender identity. The problem with transgender rights is that they are not treated as basic human rights. The main cause of this problem is that some people look at it as "not in the norm" or "out of the ordinary" and as a result, transgender people are either out casted, bullied, beaten, killed or denied certain rights. A human male wanting to transition into a human female and vice versa should not make them less than exactly what they are, a human-being. A possible solution would be for people to take the time to research and educate or interact with more transgender people and learn something about their decision instead of going into the problem blind with the assumption that all transgender people are not normal. As I continue on with my essay, I want to elaborate more on to some the causes that effect the transgender community and their rights as people. Scott Skinner-Thompson
Transgenders have rights just like the rest of us. Some people freak out because they use the same restrooms as us, or they “are not using that correct restroom.” Other people oppose of their kids going to the same school as a transgenders just because the parents think that they “are not normal.” Transgender people also have rights to go into the military, Trump has banned any transgender from going into the military. Honestly transgender people don't have a title at all unless we give them a title.
Just because it’s not right doesn't mean there is a perfect solution for it. People can’t dictate how other people feel. Since there are so many rebuttals for every argument on either side, it can be difficult to resolve. The only resolution is to get used to it. As people learn, hear, and observe things around them constantly, it becomes normal to them. Since there are more and more people becoming transgender, people are getting more used to the idea. Hopefully, that will not influence other people to become transgender. Said by Emma Green, “As more Americans learn about what it means to be transgender or meet people who identify that way, it’s possible they’ll become more comfortable with the idea of transgender people using the bathroom that corresponds with their current gender identity.” Although there will be a lot of stubborn people not willing to get used to it, maybe the fact that no matter how hard someone tries, they can't change their sex. The sex of someone is in their genes, XX for females, and XY for males. Someone can get surgery and appear like a female or male, but if you were born a female, it’s impossible to change your sex (Ritchie, John). People on Debate.org say, “Everybody should feel happy and whether that is being transgender or not, who cares! Let them live their life in happiness and peace without having people against them” (“should-we-support-transgender-equality-in-schools”). Everyone wants to
Trans sexual people do not consider the sex they were born with to the the right one. So in order to be happy and free they change the opposite sex. This transition can be quite impactful as people start to discriminate and taking away their rights. A perfect example is the case of Re Kevin (Validity of Marriage of Transsexual) [2001] FamCa 1074. In this case Kevin was a transsexual man who wanted to get married but the attorney general refused to legally grant him a marriage certificate. Even though he could own a passport and other legal document, he still was not able to get legally married. After numerous trials, Kevin was able to obtain his marriage certificate. This case is a perfect example on how we humans have started to evolve, and have learned about accepting people for who they are. Even though transsexual people are not fully accepted, inevitably they all
In a lot of places around the world more and more people are coming out as “Transgender.” The term transgender means that the person’s gender identity does not correspond with the gender they were assigned as having at birth. From personally having a transgender boyfriend I have since realized that these people experience a lot of discrimination in and from society. Many people simply just do not understand what the term transgender means and they see it as someone just “wants to be a man” or “wants to be a woman.” While there may be people who present it this way, it is more so that the individual just “feels” different, and “feels” as if they are “in the wrong body.” Some people experience this feeling at a young age as my boyfriend did in his elementary age. We live in a world who put these people down for being who they truly are, and no human being wants or needs that.
Transgendered people in America have made many great strides since the 1990s. They have encountered violence, lack of health care, and the loss of homes, jobs, family and friends. There have been many phases of the struggle of being transgendered in America over the years. The current phase we must be in now is equal rights. There are many variations of discrimination against the transgendered community. In our society we simply do not like what we do not understand. It is easier to discriminate than to try and understand. We are all created different and we should appreciate our differences. The change must come by addressing the views of the public. There is much justification in the unequal rights of transgendered peoples. The Human
Coming out as a transgender, identifying with a gender expression that differs from the assigned sex, has proven to be quite difficult through the ages. While the acceptance of transgender people has grown significantly higher throughout the years, people’s stance on them are still quite divided, and the uphill battle for transgender rights has proven this. Just giving transgenders the right to simply go to the bathroom they identify with has shown to be controversial according to the TIME cover Battle of the Bathroom. The TIME magazine makes sure to note the problem defiantly “far more than public facilities” (Scherer par. 9). Transgender rights are a problem that Jamison Green, president for World Professional Association for Transgender Health, thoroughly addresses in a report written by Alan Greenblatt for CQ Researcher. Jamison Green’s specific purpose in that report is to justify why transgender people deserve basic human rights like everybody else, as shown in society, through his use of facts, qualifiers, figurative language, counterarguments, and appeals to logic and values.
From the time they are brought into this world their parents as well as themselves must struggle to find their sexual identity. Now on there other hand transgender people are born with either male sexual organs or female sexual organs. They feel as if they are one stuck in the other one 's body, but nonetheless it is a psychological desire within the person 's conscious which seeks to become the other gender. It 's perfectly fine to push for what you believe in but it 's a totally different ball game trying to get everyone else to believe to.
Many people from different countries and states travel and some cultures they do not allow such things like that. Other countries they would kill give you lashes and also incarcerate you just because you are being with the LGBTQ community well being who you want to be .Imagine how they would feel if they came to North Carolina .They are in the bathroom with a transgender and they notice that they are a man wanting to be a woman or a women wanting to be a male they would find it disrespectful and may try to do something to the person. They might would also disrespect the transgender to the point it might trigger to something else and
A man is a man, no matter how he dresses, so let him into the women's bathroom is absurd. 2. Male perverts and pedophiles disguised as women this is significant because it is said that if a male transition to a female does not matter what he is a male making him capable of thinking like a male and acting like a male it is saying not matter what you do to yourself you are still your biological sex and vice versa. transgender is trying to stop people from thinking like the previous statement because of that, in fact, is the wrong people are who they think they are not what they truly are and that's how a lot of people think.Transgenders are confident in themselves and believe that their struggle will be passed not matter how society thinks or feel about Transgenders it's really about what's in the law and what right they have a unity and what's for the best as a whole also for the future Transgenders to have it a better way than the current Transgenders do, they won't have to struggle so hard. this shows that just like the civil right movement, they want if better for themselves and for their kids or other Transgenders. Transgender believe it could hurt anybody to have a little bit more diverse and open minded.Transgender are gonna fight for what's right until the end not matter how far they
“The Human Rights Campaign, in 32 states an individual can be fired for being transgender and in 33 states an individual can be refused housing.” “In 2013, the state of California signed a bill in to legislation titled School Success and Opportunity Act giving transgender students the full rights and opportunities that their cisgender peers are granted.” “For individuals who are minors, if their parents’ consent, they are able to begin receiving puberty blockers at a young age and later receive cross sex hormones and then transitional surgeries upon turning 18 years of
I think it is a very relevant social and legal dilemma. This type of criminalization prevents transgender people from getting married, finding jobs, having correct gender identification for records, health benefits, and even prohibits them from using the bathroom that is correlated to their gender identity. Before I discuss the criminalization of the transgender community, I should describe what constitutes as a transgender person. A transgender person is someone who was born into a male or female sex, but identifies psychologically as the other sex. The transgender population is quite larger than one might think, it is estimated that between two and five percent of the world population identifies as transgender (Trotter,
When someone calls themself transgender, it means that they do not identify with the gender they were assigned at birth. For example, someone who was born as a man may later realize that they are in fact a woman; this person would be called a trans woman. There is much debate over transgenderism and, specifically, whether society should treat transgenders as their biological sex or their gender identity. For example, if a transgender man (biological sex being female) wants to use the men’s restroom, should he be able to? The laws that would allow this are known as transgender inclusion laws, and the debate over passing such laws has always been extremely heated. Transgender inclusion laws should be passed in all areas, as there has been no increase in crime rates as a result of transgender use of public facilities, transgenderism is absolutely real and should be recognized as such, and these laws only brings benefits for any trans-friendly environments.
The social issue that I chose which affects society today is transgender inequality. These issues are more recently gaining attention and becoming a prevalent topic of inequality within our country. A transgender person is someone whose gender identity, gender expression or behavior does not conform to that typically associated with the sex to which they were assigned at birth. As more and more transgender people share their stories in the media, the social problems that arise from these stories are discrimination within their everyday lives. They suffer from scrutiny and judgment from their peers, and thus many hide their gender identity from family and society. This social injustice can be as simple as a glance or staring, or offensive comments and questions to violent hate crimes. Transgender people are prone to violence and harassment, and often not feeling safe in any aspect of society. They are fired from jobs, denied medical insurance, and being murdered left and right solely for being transgender. “A staggering 41% of respondents reported attempting suicide compared to 1.6% of the general population, with rates rising for those who lost a job due to bias (55%), were harassed/bullied in school (51%), had low household income, or were the victim of physical assault (61%) or sexual assault (64%)” (National Center for Transgender Equality). The structure of this paper will consist of adding all the research that was gathered over the semester, news articles and peer
Many people have an idea in their head of what is normal. What is allowed to be normal, and who you should be. In this idea of normal they forget that normal doesn’t have rules and they say, “If you were born a girl, then you cannot be a boy.” I disagree. Why do we let ourselves be made by rules? Transgender people are just as normal as someone who was born into their gender. They should be allowed to have the rights someone who was born into their gender should. They should have these rights because, even if they are different from you and me, they are still people and should be treated as such. They are someone trapped inside a body, where the inside doesn’t match the outside, why should they be stripped of rights for trying to be the person they are? They should have rights because they aren’t crazy or psychotic. They are just as much as sane as you and I.
Beauty is “a combination of qualities, such as shape, color, or form, that pleases the aesthetic sense, especially the sight.” It no secret that transgenders in today society are getting noticed more than they use too. Vogue, which is a popular beauty magazine, released a cover shoot with a transgender model. Vogue even announces that transgenders are “ changing the face of fashion and deconstructing prejudice”. When transgender people don't fit the standards of beauty the backlash towards them can be violent. People need to learn that thought our diversity we can find the beauty in people. Due to the fact of transgenders being so diverse, many people have trouble accepting them in every day conditions.
