Throughout much of this era, Irishman Bram Stoker lived his life. He was born Abraham Stoker on November 8, 1847 in Dublin, Ireland. In 1864, he started to attend the University of Dublin. He graduated with a mathematics degree in 1870. Later, he was hired as a civil servant at Dublin Castle, where he worked for nearly 10 years while also being an unpaid writer for a local newspaper writing reviews of theatrical productions. In the late 1870s, Stoker gave up his civil service position and met the famous actor Sir Henry Irving. Stoker even worked with Irving by being a manager at the Lyceum Theatre in London for nearly 30 years. It was during this time that he wrote his most well known novel, Dracula.
