Bod Pod Analysis The Bod Pod is a system in which the body’s density is calculated. This density is then transferred to see how much of a person’s overall weight is fat and how much is muscle. My experience in testing was both interesting and insightful. Beginning, I met with Mrs. Megan Windham, the registered dietician at Beutel Health services. I was then told to change into clothing with minimal additional weight and stepped into the Pod system. The Pod changed the air pressure around me and took three consecutive readings to ensure accuracy. I then changed into my normal clothing and followed Mrs. Windham to discuss my results. Following, I was able to sit down one on one with Mrs. Windham to see my results. She told me that I had …show more content…
She said that by watching my diet combined with a healthy workout regimen should help me. She also informed me that she is interested in see me lower the fat percentage, not my overall weight. By lifting weights and gaining muscle, I would see an increase on the scale but it would actually be for my benefit because I would have a higher ratio of lean muscle in my body. Moreover, I have always struggled with a fluctuating weight so it was nice to see a measurement of my actual composition of my body as opposed to seeing just the number of pounds on a scale at home. I now have a place to start to work towards improvement. I know that I need to integrate weight lifting into my workout routine and eat a more balanced diet. Now that I have a goal in mind, I feel more value behind the changes that I plan to make in my lifestyle. Overall, I would say that the Bod Pod taught me a lot more than I had originally expected to learn about my body. The process was very quick and easy, the dietician was friendly and informative, and I now have goals on where I would like to improve. I would gladly do this test again and would recommend it to anyone wishing to live a healthier
My freshmen year, surprisingly, passed by quickly. I was so busy with volleyball, basketball, track, and new school rules that I did not have much time to pick apart my body. There was still a part of me obsessing over my weight . I really started picking out my flaws my summer going into my sophomore year. I worked out every day in the summer. I started out by running the bike path that circles through my town once a day. The path’s distance was about 4 miles. Midway through the summer I started running the path once in the morning and once at night. I still was not satisfied with how I looked.

Answer: On a scale of 1-10, I currently feel like a 5 about my body. I feel like a 5 since I’m not necessarily satisfied about my current body but, I also do not feel miserable towards my body. I just feel stuck in the middle since I know that there is improvement that I could do towards my body for my own happiness and health. I also feel neutral because I know that my current weight is not how I want my body to look like but, the weight is something I am currently working
NHS Tayside have adapted their MUST Tool from BAPEN.Bapen is a multi-professional association with its members consisting of the healthcare professionals found in a multi-disiplinary team.(the explanary booklet). The purpose of the MUST Tool is to ‘identify adults who are underweight and at risk of malnutrition,as well as those who are obese.’ There are five steps to using the MUST tool, which can help when completing a careplan.nutrition plays an important role in the assessment of pressure ulcers as inadequate nutrition can lead to delayed recovery and healing time leading to a longer stay in hospital(MUST report 10 key points). There should only be about ten percent or less of calories that are from saturated fats. Referring back to my food log I can see that I exceed the value about 8%. Throughout my diet I increased the intake of green leafy foods to help balance out my diet along with mixed vegetables. One thing that I did not add on to my diet is fruit. Fruits play a major role with digestion of foods, which should have incorporated in my diet to balance it. I really need to increase my physical activity level, including both cardio and interval training. I know that the carbs that I consumed really puts on a lot of weight and makes me bloated. Also the juices that I drank were full of sugar. After reading through the book and discussion in class I have realized that I need to stay far away from food with added sugar. Moreover, I should be consuming food low in saturated fats, and has no added
The Army Body Composition Program (ABCP) relies on a basic form of body circumference measurements to determine a soldier’s body fat composition. Many people believe this standard of measuring is an unfair and inaccurate representation of their true body composition. There are several options that could provide a more accurate measurement such as hydrostatic testing, skin fold method, Bioelectric Impedance Analysis (BIA) only to name a few. There are many factors that influence the decisions of leaders such as availability, cost, reliability and accuracy of the method in which method they decide to use.
This made me think differently about my health choices and meet me want to become healthier for myself. This is important to talk about because a lot of women struggle with their body no matter how skinny or big they are. There’s always going to be someone talking about your body whether it be negatively or positively and we need to learn to only listen to our own opinions because those are the ones that
The weather was glorious. About 90 degrees, with nothing but sun shine! Not even a cloud in sight. I jumped out of bed, and made my way to the bathroom down the hall. As I was finishing with brushing my teeth, I spit in the sink, looked at myself in the mirror with a stern glance and said, “You made it”. After all, I was only 2 short hours from making my way to the Minnesota Vikings first training camp practice of the 2001 NFL season, located near the hotel I was staying in, in Mankato. Although, that wasn’t the only reason why I credited myself. I have been known to struggle with my weight in the past, but I felt good
All patients regardless of healthy BMI or not should have their BMI check by a healthcare worker at least yearly. Patients that are noted to have one co morbidity and a BMI of 25 should be counseled on weight loss. Patients that are noted to be obese have a suggested weight loss goal of anywhere from 3% to 10%. Obesity is a lifestyle disease so it would only be right to have the next point beginning at changing your diet, and physical activity while still counseled by your healthcare worker. When dieting an individual’s diet should be tailored to their co morbidities if any present. Patient that need to be counseled will need to be advised on how to reduce their caloric intake while gradually starting toincreasetheirworkouts and physical activity. A caloric restriction of 1800 kcal for men and 1500 kcal a day for women is usually recommended. Some patients may also benefit from different workout programs like group sessions or one to one sessions with a personal trainer. If those intervention fail and the patient has a BMI of 40 or more or a BMI of 35 or more with one or more comorbidities some form of bariatric surgery may be suggested. There are not many pharmaceutical treatments available for weight loss management. Many of these drugs on the market are known to have severe side effects such as cardiac
Two hundred and ten pounds, was that all I could do after a whole summer of strength camp. I felt as though I was sinking in quicksand, all this effort yet only for a loss in my strength. I remembered then of all that I have done to get this far starting at one hundred and thirty-five pounds. After a whole two years, I trained not missing a workout nor a day of strength camp. To reach what I now believed to be my plateau,
Obesity has dramatically increased in the United States over the past two decades. Along with obesity come many serious, preventable health conditions. Currently, more than one-third of adults in the United States are obese (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 2015). If current trends continue, experts predict that half of all Americans will be obese by the year 2030 (CDC, 2015). Body mass index (BMI) is said to provide the most useful population-level measure of overweight and obesity (National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), 2015). Using tools such as the adult BMI assessment, health care providers can identify problems and work with patients on a solution to decrease the incidence of obesity and maintain
Within “Famine, Affluence, and Morality” Peter Singer delves into the topic of famine; specifically, the moral obligations individuals in affluent countries have to those who are suffering. In his example, Singer focuses on the population of East Bengal, and their struggle with famine and extreme poverty. Singer proposes that with enough aid from both individuals and various governments extreme poverty can be eradicated. Therefore, the question he presents is why poor people are dying while affluent people are spending excess money on luxuries? Singer argues that affluent people, living in affluent countries, are not helping developing countries by failing to give enough to alleviate extreme poverty.
I did not expect to see any real tangible evidence to be perfectly honest. I have tried to lose weight before, however, I was never able to tell when I look in the mirror. Secretly I hoped to lose weight since I have some body image issues, but, I did not realistically expect to see a change.
At the outset of treatment, the patient and health care provider should discuss and agree upon goals. The goals must take into account the food habits, exercise behaviors, psychological outlook and support systems of the individual. Realistic expectations, short- and long-term, may be promoted by a discussion of a healthy weight versus an ideal body weight. Features of weight management
I will be making sure to eat more fibrous foods to meet my target. In regards to the macronutrients I was very surprised that I had not met the target on many of the nutrients. Upon looking at the report it seems that I fell shy of meeting my target consumption of these nutrients by very little. Unfortunately I noticed that my potassium intake was low, it seems that I only ate about half of what I should be consuming. This surprised me especially since we always have bananas on hand at my house. I will try to make an effort to incorporate more foods into my diet that have potassium like bananas and prunes.
