The Big five factors are Openness to Experience, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness, and Neuroticism. The Big Five structure was derived from statistical analyses of which traits tend to co-occur in people 's descriptions of themselves or other people. The underlying correlations are probabilistic, and exceptions are possible. People who score high on this dimension are empathetic, considerate, friendly, generous, helpful and more sensitive to the needs and perspectives of others. They also have an optimistic view of human nature. They tend to believe that most people are honest, decent, and trustworthy. Agreeable people also have an optimistic view of human nature. They believe people are basically honest, decent, and trustworthy. I got the highest score in this personality because of my empathiness and I’m a friendly person. I like to hang out with my friends and willing to do everything as long as I capable to doing so and I can felt the feeling of my friend or people around me.
Emotional stability also calls as neuroticism. Neuroticism is a fundamental personality trait in the study of psychology. Individuals high in this trait tend to experience emotional instability, anxiety, moodiness, irritability, and sadness. People who are get high score at neuroticism part they will more respond to environmental stress because they easily will fall at depressed mood. It also a risk factor for mental disorder such as phobia, panic disorder and other disorder. Openness refers to the degree in which a person is imaginative, independent, and prefers variety. Agreeableness depends on the individual’s level of compassion, trust, and good nature. Conscientiousness is the extent to which a person is organized, careful, and responsible. Lastly, neuroticism relates to a person’s emotional stability and negative emotions. If you experience this, you score higher in neuroticism. I personally took a survey on the Big Five and I would have to say that I agree with the results for the most part. The only component I disagreed with was openness because it put me in the 6th percentile. I think this is a little low, but not too far off. It is said that results in these five factors can vary based on culture.
I view myself as an agreeable person who is caring and sympathetic towards others. In addition, I put others feeling and well-being in front of mine to insure their happiness.

After taking the Big Five Personality Assessment, I was able to decode certain aspects of my personality and analyze whether different strengths and weaknesses. One strength I found was me openness to experience. Being open to others and their ideas has broadened my horizons. I have found that I have so much to learn from others. Whether their ideas are positive or negative, they provide feedback which overall has increased my communication skills. This is a recent strength for me. Emotional stability is defined as the extent to which a person lacks insecurity, possesses calmness, and is free from negative thoughts. When we look at John Mackey we can see that he is full of positive thoughts and he himself carries a positive attitude, which in turns gives people around him the positive energy and motivates them when he is around, or is going after a certain objective. He is considered at times very aggressive, and sometimes would almost be considered obnoxious. The one thing that we can see is that he believes in what he is doing, and has inner peace.

I found this information to be helpful knowledge and provide insight about myself, as well as being crucial in examining my personality traits. Recently we discussed the Myers Briggs types and how although these types are a very well known and popular measure of personality, that the Big 5 personality Types (OCEAN) are a more scientifically backed measure of personality. While the Myers Briggs types measure individuals based on four traits, on which individuals are usually generalized either to be at one extreme end of the scale or the other based on their placement on a scale. This allows individuals to be labeled as personalities such as “ENFJ” or “INTP”. However, The OCEAN model rates people on a scale of how much of a certain trait they possess. Learning the big five factors of personality helped me to better understand myself. I am an analytical person and I believe that the more I realize about myself the more successful I will be. My traits are neurotic, extroverted, and open. I have not yet come to a conclusion on if I am conscientious. Every so often, impulses get the best of me and I act rashly; on the other hand, discipline and organization are two of my strong suits. As much as I would love to say I am agreeable, I am not. I am typically difficult to please and I lack faith in others. Acknowledging the fact that I am typically neurotic and disagreeable helps me become self-aware. For example, the next time my volleyball coach asks me to put the ice chest on the bus, I am going to cooperate and do it without complaining under my breath and becoming angry. Self improvement starts with self understanding. This will benefit every aspect of my life, including relationships, school, and my job.
