In class we read 3 Cinderella stories and one poem. Ashenputtle is German, Yeh Shen is Chinese, The Algonquin is Native America, and the Interview is a poem. There are over 900 different Cinderella stories in every cultures. I am going to compare and contrast the ones we read in class.
They are all pretty similar because they all have the same components of marrying the prince. Ashenputtle is similar to the Interview because they both have a step mother and two step sisters. Ashenputtle is also similar to Yeh Shen because they have a festival where they can meet people and they can marry the prince, and they have golden shoes. They are also all similar because they have step sisters/stepsister who is mean to them. They are also similar
My paragraphs are going to be about 4 of the Cinderella stories. They will be comparing in one paragraph and contrasting in the other. The 4 stories are Ashenputtel, Yeh-shen, Algonquin, and Interview. My favorite story was Yeh-shen.
The poem “To This Day” written by Shane Koyczan, the symbolism is the black things grabbing the kid. This is showing that words do hurt and it stays with you this is shown through the whole story of the pain and suffering of the kid. This is said " who used to say that rhyme sticks and stones as if broken bones hurt more than the names we got called" this is showing word do hurt and the black things grabbing him is showing that like a broken bone it still hurts over time just like words do. With this evidence it shows that if you don't want to be called that don't say it at all.
The central focus of this unit is to identify the elements of stories and how their themes may relate to each other in a variety of ways. Students will be guided in a variety of comparison and contrasting activities in order to gain understanding of main ideas, characters, and cultural themes across similar fairy tales from different cultures. This unit focuses on three different versions of Cinderella from different cultures. I chose to focus on the common elements of the fairy tales and the cultural differences because this was something the students were struggling with previously.
Chances are, you have seen or read a Cinderella story at some point. After all, it’s quite widespread. While there are many different versions, they all follow the same pattern of events and happenings. That’s how we know that it’s a Cinderella story! Two examples of this would be the French version of Cinderella and Little Burnt Face, the Native American version. Today I will be comparing how the two solved their conflicts, which will reveal some social necessities, and how the location affected the story in the conflict’s resolution.
There are certain similarities in two variants of the story. Main characters are the same and basic plot is repeated in two versions with slight differences. Cinderella is a classical story, which exists, in many different cultures and countries. It reflects the story of poor girls who suffers different privations but finds the way out from different situations and becomes happy. The story about Cinderella is a story of hope and many people are fond of this story. It does not lose its popularity with the flow of time and light changes in the plot and depiction of the characters only reflect cultural and historical differences. The story of Cinderella passes
Another similarity they have is that each tale is full of culture. In each tale the magical aspects are culturally based. In Tam and Cam it is shown in reincarnation. It is a Buddhist based tale, it brings Buddha as the magic helping tool. As well as in The Algonquin Cinderella culture plays a major role. In the Native American culture they viewed innocence as goodness. They looked upon it as a life decision that was to be used. These also created the
Dawe in his poem ‘Drifters’ presents the inevitable nature of change, particularly change that is unwanted. Poetry is a beautiful way to express the subtext within it, using literary devices which enhances the poem 's beauty. Poetry is considered to take distorted ideas and transforms it into beautiful words. Therefore, resulting the harsh truth being displayed in a form of a poem for readers to sink into another point of view. These creators called poets, are a group of people with a wide variety of experiences that an average person does not usually experience. They can create a more unified meaning in their masterpiece, without taking up 300 pages to exhibit their meaning, and still hold different interpretations by different readers. Poets are known to uncover the truth, which could be their experiences or reality based ideas, by beautifying the reality with literary devices to make it more relatable and enjoyable but still hold that very core of the meaning behind the poem. Poetry is a powerful vessel, between creator and reader, to change a person’s outlook of life or one’s surroundings. A poem can change moods, enhances one’s personality, gain a sense of people knowledge and become a bit more sensitive around one 's world. Even if poets are not aware of the power poetry holds, they still do it to convey an experience, a lesson or a journey. All of this relates to 'Love and Roses ' by Tracy Marshall, where the speaker is telling the reader a journey of their blinding love. The abusive relationship exists in the speaker 's life but is distracted by the idea of the
Psalm 126:2-3 says, “Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy. Then it was said among nations, “ The Lord has done great things for them”. The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy.” Allen Temple Ame was the epitome of joy. The atmosphere was lively and far from mundane. Everyone was loquacious and cordial. God was very much present in that service.
Concentration takes its form in the little beads of sweat collecting on my upper lip. My mom’s finger dances along the words in one of those colorful children’s books for beginning readers. The turquoise sleeve of her blouse puddles across the page as if it were melting under the morning rays. I know this word. It pounds inside my head, but I continue to struggle with the blankness, silence resting on the tip of my tongue where the word should be.

Night is filled with so many wonderful things, wouldn’t you say? Darkness slinking into the sky, emergent with madness and power—I always liked to think that Night was a character with assorted natures. Her beauty of an aurora, the grace of shaded streaks, peppered stars, then monsters and malevolent creatures, demons under your bed, waiting patiently for an arm or a leg to drop over the edge so they may drag you down to the depths of hell, masked figures of men gaping at your sleeping body with a leer, unseen white noises that seem to mock you, and so many more enchanting gears. Alone, your eyes are bolted and you’re clutching your bedsheets in hopes that the demons find you too unappealing to eat, but with friends? Spitting in their faces you laugh, and stride away hand in hand, not realizing you’re playing the demon.
Have you ever felt like you were born to do something? Since I was born I felt like I was born to play baseball, but after that I would love to be a broadcaster. That is why I have chosen to analyze “The Broadcaster’s Poem” by Alden Nowlan. Analyzing a poem is not an easy thing to accomplish for me. As I very rarely analyze anything I read, but you should try everything once.
